Update: Unfortunately, neither ASUS nor NVIDIA had anything of value to say about this device:

NVIDIA's response:

Officially, no comment on unannounced products.

ASUS' response:

First I have heard of it, especially since the next tablets up on the roadmap are Windows based.

As many readers have already pointed out in the comments, perhaps this will be a Windows RT tablet. Time will tell.

This is a curious one; a mysterious ASUS tablet has shown up out of the blue at the FCC today, with the model name 'TF500T'.

We've received some interesting information from an insider at Carphone Warehouse suggesting that a black version of Samsung's Galaxy S III is in the works, and we're inclined to trust it. Here's our evidence, from the company's internal product database:

If you recall, way back when the Galaxy S III was but a rumor-laden twinkle in our collective eyes, GSMArena received a similar leak from inside Carphone Warehouse confirming the white and blue colors the phone was launched in.

A leaked image of an upcoming device for T-Mobile, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze Q (a name that violates no less than three commandments) just surfaced over at TmoNews. As its [awful] name suggests, this appears to be a QWERTY-fied version of the Galaxy S Blaze, though the rumored specs actually point to a bit of an upgrade in the display department, as well:

  • 720p display (size not mentioned)
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB storage
  • HSPA+ 42
  • Slide-out QWERTY
  • Android 4.0

By comparison, the Blaze 4G packs similar specs (sans keyboard), but with a meager 480x800 display and slower Snapdragon S3 (as opposed to the S4 in the Blaze Q).

HTC Rezound owners may have a reason to get excited in the very, very near future. According to a leaked document, the Rezound may be seeing an update to Ice Cream Sandwich starting as soon as tomorrow, July 29th. The document says the OTA update should be about 292MB, so be sure to have your WiFi handy before you download.

As we mentioned before, there is a decent chance that the tip was fabricated.

Google I/O is coming and we already expect a bevy of Android related announcements. Furthermore, rumours of a Google-branded Android tablet have been swirling around for some time now, and last month a benchmark report indicated that the 7-inch tablet would be manufactured by Asus.

  • 1.3Ghz quad-core Tegra 3 processor
  • nVidia GeForce 12-core GPU
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8GB or 16GB of internal storage
  • 1.2 MP front-facing camera, no rear camera
  • NFC with Google Wallet

Aside from the specs, which are quite impressive, there are two pieces of news that are especially interesting.

In a Bluetooth SIG listing (a trade certification group), LG has officially confirmed the existence of the E970 and LS970. The former is possibly headed for AT&T (it has AT&T GSM and LTE bands - which could mean Rogers as well) and is packing a quad-core Qualcomm S4 Krait chip, complete with the latest Adreno 320 GPU goes toe-for-toe with the Galaxy SIII in GLBencmark. The 1280x768 resolution is something of an oddity - why the extra 48 pixels?

Influential tech personality, and sometimes well-meaning rumormonger Robert Scoble kicked up some controversy earlier today when he reported via Google+ that Google's Andy Rubin was preparing to make an exit. Rubin, Scoble claimed, was planning to leave Google to take charge of a new startup called CloudCar. Andy Rubin has always been in charge of Android, so his departure would have cast an undeniable pallor over the upcoming Google I/O.

Just a few hours after Scoble posted his thoughts on the matter, Andy Rubin came out of the woodwork on Twitter to make it clear he was not leaving Google.

It seems like we've been hearing about a Motorola device headed to AT&T codenamed "Dinara" for eons now. A new press shot of this elusive device has now fallen into the hands of The Verge, and it shows a very different handset than the one sharing the same codenamed that was released in China last year.

As you can see, this device is definitely running Ice Cream Sandwich, with a seemingly tolerable version of Motoblur (or whatever they're calling it these days) slapped on top of it.
