Rumors Confirmed? Image Of Sprint XOOM Pops Up Online

Just yesterday, we first heard word that Motorola may be launching versions of the XOOM (and the Atrix) on Sprint's network next month. Today it looks even more probable, as an image of a Sprint-branded XOOM has been posted by SprintUsers forum member r0fl.

The tablet looks identical to the Verizon model, aside from a Sprint logo. While something like this could easily be Photoshopped, keep in mind that the poster of the image "has a proven track record when it comes to unreleased Sprint hardware," according to BGR.

As we had not even heard wind of this two days ago, nothing else is known at this point.

[Rumor] Sprint Set To Launch Versions Of Atrix And XOOM Next Month

A pretty wild (but completely plausible) rumor has arisen that Motorola's Atrix 4G phone (along with its Webtop dock) and XOOM tablet will be launching on Sprint's network next month. There had not previously been any indication that either of these phones would be tied to any network other than their current carriers (respectively) AT&T and Verizon.

This could potentially be announced at CTIA next week, but the source specifically said that the devices would be announced next month - so perhaps Sprint is focusing more on the EVO 3D for the time being. If true, these would likely serve as the biggest Android releases on Sprint since the original HTC EVO last summer.

LG's G-Slate And G2x (Also Known As The Optimus Pad And Optimus 2X) Reportedly Launching At T-Mobile On April 20

Remember that onslaught of dual-core smartphones and Honeycomb-running tablets we have been anticipating for a while now? It has already begun - and it is only going to keep on growing. The latest rumored release is for the LG G-Slate and G2X, which, according to TmoNews, are both set to launch at T-Mobile stores on April 20.

The dual-core G-Slate (also known as Optimus Pad) will be, along with the upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1, the first Honeycomb-running rivals to give the Motorola XOOM a run for its money. LG's 8.9" tab will be the first to incorporate 3D technology, and is rumored to be priced at $699 (let's just hope that's off-contract).

Device Info For "HTC Shooter" Pops Up On GLBenchmark - It's Possibly The EVO 3D

Site GLBenchmark showed a very interesting log of a phone, dubbed the HTC Shooter, checking in recently. As this is the device's development codename, the speculation is that this could be Sprint's sequel to the EVO - the EVO 3D - that we will likely hear about at CTIA next week.

As you can see in the screenshot taken below, the Shooter sports 960 x 540 (qHD) resolution (the same as the Atrix) and is running Android 2.3.2 'Gingerbread.' The model is listed as PG86100 and it is clearly setup for Sprint's network.

The phone also sports a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor (probably - this is based on the known Qualcomm chipsets with the Adreno 220 GPU that the benchmark indicates) and looks to be nearly identical to the HTC Pyramid, renders of which turned up just yesterday.

Pre-orders For Wi-Fi-only XOOM Live On B&H For $599

A couple of weeks ago, word popped up of a UK site starting to take pre-orders for the Wi-Fi-only version of the Motorola XOOM, being available in early April. Not long after that images leaked of the same model showing up in a Sam's Club training center with a price tag of $539. Not to be outdone, yet another story arose saying office retailer Staples would be supplying the slate for $600 with employee training starting on March 23. Today the rumors take another step into becoming reality, as site B&H is now taking pre-orders for the Wi-Fi model of the Honeycomb debut for $599, making them the first American site (to our knowledge) to offer pre-orders on the carrier-free model.

All Signs Pointing To HTC Launching A 10" Honeycomb Tablet In June?

After HTC's upcoming Flyer tablet was announced and previewed, many were bewildered that their debut offering in the tablet game was a 7" single-core slate that runs Gingerbread and totes a stylus. If recent leaks from retailers hold any water, then the Taiwanese manufacturer may have something else (much better?) in store. Two leaked internal document show a 10" Honeycomb tablet from HTC launching in June.

Two leaks from separate outlets show different versions of the same list. Droid Life cites the document coming from Staples, while Pre Central describes their similar document as originating from "a major retailer." The majority of the slates listed are nothing new (including the XOOM and the Galaxy Tab), but HTC's June release of a Honeycomb tablet with a "TBD" price certainly jumps out as new.

[Updated] Did AT&T Just (Sort Of) Address Capped Uploads On Atrix And Inspire?

Update: In response to a Better Business Bureau complaint against AT&T for capping upload speeds, the wireless carrier has acknowledged that HSUPA is not currently available and insists that customers "will continue to have a world class experience" (obviously dismissing the fact that some customers' experiences are far from world class).

AT&T points out that the speeds were not "capped," but are simply not HSUPA-capable. While this does accurately reflect that the carrier was not intentionally throttling data speeds, it seems to only distract from the fact that, on the customer's end, the result is the same.

They say they are currently in the process of testing HSUPA, which will enable high-speed uploads that many customers were led to believe they would have from the beginning.

Flyer Surfaces Showing Wifi Galaxy Tab Launching April 4 For $399

Take it as you wish, but a flyer that (according to Droid Life) was passed out by Samsung representatives at a technology fair today clearly shows that a Wifi-only version of the original 7" Galaxy Tab is set to hit store shelves on April 4 at $399.

If this turns out to be legit, it may be viewed as a mixed bag by Android users. On the one hand, it's a quality tablet from a major manufacturer offered for $100 less than the iPad, but on the other hand, this isn't November and the original Tab's specs are easily dwarfed by the current generation of Tegra 2 slates that are becoming available.

Droid X2 Is Looking A Lot Like The Droid X - Available "This Week?"

In an internal memo leaked from SCK (the Radio Shack subsidiary that sets up wireless kiosks at Sam's Club) it appears that the Droid X2 is on its way very soon, and it may not be much of an upgrade over the original. The note to employees says that kiosks can expect to see the Droid X2 (which showed up at the FCC recently) "this week."

So surely Motorola's sequel is an exciting upgrade over the original, right? Well, according to the memo, it will sport a 2GB SD card and sell for the same price as last year's version. As the current model now ships with a 2GB SD card as well (unlike the memo, which has the old information of it shipping with a 16GB card) that leaves us to figure out the rest of the changes.

Razor-thin 8.9" Galaxy Tab Teased Again By Samsung

We know Samsung will be unveiling a new tablet at CTIA later this month, and all signs point to their showcasing an 8.9" Galaxy Tab. The same number, 78910, which was displayed in a promo last week, has appeared again on a new image posted on the manufacturer's Facebook page. It will almost certainly be measured at 8.9" because Samsung debuted the first major Android tab at 7" (the original Galaxy Tab), and has announced a 10.1" model (the Galaxy Tab 10.1) - leaving 8.9" as the likely proportion of the upcoming slate.

Asking us again "What's your Tab life?", the visual shows an extreme closeup of a tablet with a cross-hatched texture that looks quite thin.
