Google Announces Android 4.4 KitKat Along With Nexus 7 Giveaway

As soon as Android head Sundar Pichai tweeted the image of a KitKat-themed Android statue on the lawn at Google, it was on. The official KitKat twitter account got in on the fun, and the Android KitKat website went live with a confirmation that it was indeed going to be Android KitKat. What's more, this is not Android 5.0. This is 4.4.

[New Game] Super Psycho Cycle Is A Game Where You Shoot Bullets At Things And Then They Die

Some video games are true works of art, immersing the player in deep, believable worlds, surrounding them with thoughtful characters, and tying it all together with organic gameplay to create truly immersive experiences. Some video games strap an AK-47 on a motorcycle and let you make "vroom vroom" noises while shooting more lead than the annual NRA duck hunt. Guess which category Super Psycho Cycle falls into.

Acer's Extend Concept Is A New Smartphone-Workstation Prototype That Looks Kind Of Familiar

Part of the reason I was drawn to the Chromebook Pixel is that it's essentially a thin client for accessing the same content I interact with using my phones and tablets. Having to move and maintain files between separate machines is a chore I no longer wish to deal with, so I'm happy to see that this issue may soon be a thing of the past. Today at IFA, Acer demoed its Extend prototype, a laptop-dock that could enable you to use a smartphone as a your primary computer.

[Editorial] Microsoft Buys Nokia: What It Means (And Doesn't Mean) For Android

If you're a dedicated follower of tech news, you've probably heard the big story from late last night: Microsoft is buying Nokia. Holy cow, Redmond has an end-to-end distribution model! This could finally make Windows Phone a competitor! The phone and tablet market is getting its first major shakeup since the rise of Android!

Well, yes, and then again no. While it's true that the upcoming acquisition is a huge deal for Microsoft, and an even bigger deal for Nokia and anyone who's invested in the company (either in a monetary sense or as a customer), I can't see it having a huge impact on Android.

Android Police Live At IFA 2013: What To Expect From One Of The Year's Biggest Electronics Shows

Hello, dear readers. I'm sitting here at Los Angeles International Airport waiting for my flight to Berlin to board (and probably grabbing a beer before I do), and I thought now would be a good time to give you a quick look at what we'll be up to at IFA 2013.

What is IFA, exactly? Think of it like Europe's CES. While us mobile gadget bloggers focus in on the smartphone / tablet / connected stuff aspect of the IFA show, it's actually a huge event encompassing many categories of consumer electronics.
