It's prime football season, and it seems Gameloft's looking to take advantage of that with the release of NFL Pro 2013, one of only three fully NFL-licensed complete football experience games on the Play Store.

Presumably looking to take on the likes of EA's Madden franchise, NFL Pro 2013 claims to be the only free-to-play football simulation (kind of a niche, am I right?) currently available. Compared to last year's version, you're getting better graphics, a brand-new team management system, and a rather interesting first-person play mode (not sure how that's going to work out).

If you use Tapatalk for your forum-browsing needs on Android, you've probably lamented the lack of a proper tablet client for some time. After all, reading forums is one of those tasks you might actually want to do with a big screen capable of displaying significantly larger amounts of information than your phone.

You'll be relieved to hear, then, that Tapatalk now has an open beta for Tapatalk HD, the upcoming slate-specific version of the app.

In the ongoing effort to make apps better on Android, Google has released another new guide for the developers who may be looking for guidance on just how to build a great tablet-oriented app. The piece has some fairly detailed information, including how much to adjust padding of UI elements and how to target different screen sizes and resolutions. There is also more broad guidance on how to make the most of larger screen real-estate.

head-of-google-wallet-says-negotiations-with-other-carriers-are-underway-hopes-to-announce-new-partnerships-soon

It's time to go APK spelunking again. Today's target is Google Wallet!

Remember this Google Wallet Q&A? The Wallet team took to YouTube and fielded user-submitted questions ranging from "When will Wallet work on my carrier?" to "When will Wallet work in my country?" with the answer to just about everything being "we're looking into it." One exception in the non-committal answer-fest was person to person transactions, with the Walleteers saying to "stay tuned" and hinting that an announcement would be coming soon.

Update: AllThingsD, reaching out to Motorola, and received the following response:

“As we have previously stated Motorola Mobility is focusing on fewer mobile devices ... As a result we have phased out some of our lower tier devices in Europe/Germany.”

Sounds like we won't be seeing any of those devices return.

-- Original Story --

I haven't been following Motorola's ongoing patent spats in Germany particularly closely in the last year, but I do know the company hasn't been doing well there.

Google TV is about to get a whole lot more useful. As of today, Google is pushing Play Movies, TV Shows, and Music to GTV. The rollout is going to take a few weeks to complete, so don't stress if it's not available on your box just yet.

With this update, you'll be able to rent or buy content directly from the Play Store and stream it to your TV. You'll also be able to discover movies and shows via the TV & Movies app, which will also provide recommendations for content available on Netflix and Amazon, along with Google Play.

We've been waiting on Wild Blood for a while now, and it's finally arrived. Gameloft's first game built on the Unreal engine tells the story of Sir Lancelot and his quest to defeat the evil Morgana and save Guinevere. Sounds fancy, huh? The retelling of the classic story even features an 8-person multiplayer mode. We'll leave you to make your own round table jokes.

The visuals look fantastic right off the bat.

While the US variants of the XOOM 2 (known as the Xyboard/Droid Xyboard in the States) have been sitting on ICS for a while now, the lonely European versions have been idly waiting for their update to roll in. Good news: today's the day!

Motorola announced via its Facebook page that not only are the XOOM 2 variants getting the bump to ICS, but the XOOM Family Edition is receiving the update, as well.

Earlier this month, we saw a leaked image of the LG Optimus L9 for T-Mobile, and now Team Magenta has made the mid-range handset official. Availability details are still scant, with the press release stating it will hit shelves sometime "later this fall."

For those who may not remember this somewhat forgettable handset, here's a spec-refresher:

  • 4.5" qHD display with Gorilla Glass 2
  • 1GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB storage
  • 2,150mAh battery
  • Android 4.0

The L9 also features some LG proprietary software, like QuickMemo and "Cheese Shot" (which has to be one of the worst names of all time).

n7storage

Well, that's one way to announce a new device. Today on Twitter, Japanese user @oppese posted two photos of a Nexus 7 tablet. The first photo shows the storage screen displaying 27.58GB of usable space (indicating a 32GB model), and the second shows packaging for a 16GB Nexus 7. We've heard before that some stores are setting up a place for the higher capacity Nexus 7 on their shelves, but it appears this unit was mistakenly sent to a customer ahead of the full launch.
