Sprint's Nexus 5 Pops Up On Amazon, Costs Just $49.99 With A New Two-Year Contract - But Is A Whopping $499.99 Without A Plan [Update: 449.99]

The Nexus 5 is a ground-breaking device. For Android fans, this is the first high-end handset that customers can buy unsubsidized and activate on all but one of the major American carriers. This isn't a big deal with AT&T and T-Mobile, as Nexus 4 buyers could already use their networks last year, but the addition of Sprint is reason to take notice. If they can do it, it stands to reason that so could Verizon.

[APK Download] Google Maps Updated To 7.4: Adjusted Gestures, New Icons, And Not Much Else

You might just be seeing a new version of Google Maps in your Play Store downloads today - Google has updated the app from version 7.3 to 7.4. There's not a whole lot of new stuff going on inside, certainly not compared to the cavalcade of UI changes that happened earlier this year. A few tuned gestures, a few refreshed UI elements, and that's about it. APK downloads below.

If you're a regular Maps user, you'll notice that the one-finger zoom gestures have been reversed.

[New Game] Gameloft Releases Tank Battles – Customize Your Tank And Start Blowing Stuff Up

The newest title out of Gameloft is pretty self-explanatory. Tank Battles is about, you guessed it, tank battles. This game invites you to design and control your own custom war machine and fight your way through 80 top-down missions of increasing difficulty. Fighting computers not doing it for you? There's multiplayer too.

Tank Battles doesn't take a photo-realistic approach to the whole military warfare thing – it's a bit wacky and over-the-top.

Moto X Developer Edition (Verizon And GSM) Gets A $100 Price Drop To $549

The Moto X got a price drop on all American carriers late last month, bringing the on-contract price down to $100 for all American carriers (though you can find it cheaper at some retailers). It looks like Motorola is following suit with the unlockable developer versions of the phone, which are sold directly from the manufacturer and without subsidy. Previously the Developer Editions were $649.99, but you can now pick one up for $549.99.

Google Keyboard 2.0 Hits The Play Store, Brings Over Most Of The New Features Found On The Nexus 5

An updated version of Google Keyboard has made its way into the Play Store, taking most of the previously Nexus 5-exclusive features and expanding them out to other devices. We've covered the improvements in-depth before (and provided an APK), but in short, the swiping trail is now white, emoji are built-in, and users can swipe multiple words without having to lift up their finger. Unfortunately, some features still require KitKat, such as full-color emoji.

SwiftKey Developers Are Now Working On Adding Emoji Support And An Optional Dedicated Number Row

The SwiftKey team just rolled out a massive update to their popular Android keyboard, introducing various layouts suitable for a wide range of screen sizes. Now they're moving on to tackle other long-awaited, user-requested features. Two responses on the app's idea suggestion page show that the developers are currently working on adding support for emojis and the ability to enable a dedicated number row.

Neither of these features are particularly groundbreaking in the grand scheme of things, but that is precisely what makes the demand for them so strong.

[New Game] Bulkypix Launches Meltdown, A Free Top-Down Shooter With Nifty Point-And-Click Controls And Online Co-Op

Bulkypix's last game was a first-person shooter featuring zombies running amok on a spaceship. It wasn't the most original premise out there, but at least it was somewhat of a visual treat. Yet if that offering was just too mindless for your tastes, the team is at it again with Meltdown, a top-down shooter with a tad more creativity, much more charm, and even a semblance of depth.

In Meltdown, players assume the role of a red headband-wearing blondie clad in bulky blue armor.

Google Voice Gets Support For MMS From T-Mobile Customers

Google Voice was a hugely exciting service when it launched a few years back, but it seems like Google has put it on the back burner recently. Maybe things are picking up, though. Just last week Google announced that Voice was finally adding support for MMS, and now there's more news on that front. T-Mobile has opted to allow MMS messages sent from its users to be delivered to Google Voice numbers (sort of).

[Deal Alert] Grab A 32GB 2012 Nexus 7 For $99 From GameStop Or Staples Till Stock Is Gone

Guys, this is pretty nuts. GameStop is apparently trying to get rid of its remaining 2012 Nexus 7 stock, so it's slashing the price down to a Benjamin till they're all gone. That's a hell of a deal, especially considering KitKat is just around the corner for this device. And it'll probably run better than ever on KK thanks to Project Svelte.

If your local GameStop is already out of stock (they're all running low apparently), we're hearing that Staples will price match, so you should be able to grab it for a hundred spot at either place.
