The Grand Theft Auto series is a veritable gaming classic, spanning 14 games and numerous clones. The games are all highly addictive with enthralling storylines, and Rockstar has been able to replicate this magic formula with GTA III for Android.

The game normally retails for $4.99, however in celebration of the Memorial Day weekend, Rockstar has decided to massively discount it by 80%. Starting today you can pick up the game from the Google Play store for just $0.99, but hurry, the offer is only valid till Monday, May 28th.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus users, you finally have the Android 4.0.4 OTA update coming your way. You were one of the first to own a Galaxy Nexus (see our detailed review) and experience Ice Cream Sandwich, and yet now you're one of the last to receive updates (after GSM and Sprint LTE). Yup, the previous update, ICL53F, was in... December of last year. I know how bitter it makes you, and I don't really have excuses on Verizon's behalf, so let's just get down to business.

Hot on the heels of blurry-cam shots of the upcoming LS970, a rumored upcoming Sprint LG device, today we've heard that the carrier has yet another phone from the other Korean electronics giant waiting in the wings - though this one's a little less exciting.

If you recall, the LG Viper is essentially Sprint's take on the LG Lucid, found at Verizon - a mid-range device with highly capable, if slightly dated, specifications.

Google and Oracle have been going at it for weeks now over both patent and copyright infringement claims made by the latter company. At least one issue is settled, though, as the jury on the case has decided that Google did not infringe any of Oracle's patents with Android. This is only a small part of Oracle's assault on Google. The larger issue is on the matter of copyright infringement, but at least on the patent issue, Google seems to be in the clear.

You know that guy "sources"? BGR does. The tech blog has heard from Sources that Microsoft is working on a tablet-optimized version of the Office suite, which is expected to land in November of this year. According to BGR, their source actually saw the app working on an iPad, and insisted it looked nearly identical to a leaked shot that Microsoft has since disavowed.

To be clear, Microsoft has said that the above image is fake.

Well, this might be one of the most (potentially) awesome stories we cover this week. GameFly, the company best known for setting up a Netflix-style gaming rental service, has announced that it plans to open up a third-party gaming store on iOS and Android (think TegraZone, but with less hardware tie-ins). This would, presumably, be in addition to the already-existing GameFly app. Additionally, the company has "set aside a game development fund" that it will use to fund game developers with great ideas, but less cash flow.

Samsung-Galaxy-Note

Samsung recently began pushing the Ice Cream Sandwich update to unlocked Galaxy Notes across the globe. Now, much to the delight of Android modders and hackers, the company has also released the source code for the Note's Ice Cream Sandwich kernel to the Open Source Release Center.

The kernel source code allows developers to tweak different aspects of the device in question, including overclocking, undervolting, overall performance improvements, and more.

To get the download and start tinkering, hit the source link below and grab "GT-N7000_ICS_Opensource_Update3.zip."

Back at CES, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang rocked the house when he briefly showed off a new 7" quad-core tablet that was said to be introing with a price tag of $250. Since then, he publicly stated that $199 Tegra 3 tablets could become a reality sometime this summer. We're now hearing more details of how these budget powerhouses will become a reality: a new platform call Kai.

Little is known about Kai right now, only that it's based on the Tegra 3 chip, but is developed at a much lower cost.

Been thinking about switching over to Big Red? Amazon Wireless has a good deal for you: the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX for $150. Aside from the Galaxy Nexus, the MAXX is the only other device on VZW at the moment I feel comfortable recommending to people looking for an upgrade, and $150 is a pretty good deal.

If you want to make it an even better deal, though, you should buy it today.
