V-Moda has been climbing the accessory maker charts lately with stylish (if divisive) designs for headphones and phone cases. The company's first foray into Android is the METALLO case for the Galaxy S III. The all-metal design (probably high-density aluminum) is unique, changing the shape of the phone and making it dockable with an extra amplifier/battery pack accessory. It's also one of the more expensive case options out there, starting at $101 for the frame, backplate and screen protector.

How many times have you been browsing around eBay on your mobile device, only to find about half-a-dozen things you intend on buying? Gone are the days of repeated transactions, because today the official eBay app has been updated to version 2.2, which brings the long-awaited shopping cart feature to mobile, at least in the US and UK.

With this new feature, you'll be able to add items to the cart to save for later, pay for multiple items in a single transaction (even those from different sellers!), and even be notified when an item in your cart is ending soon.

There is no denying that real-time strategy games are a hard nut to crack on mobile devices. It's tough to fit all of the intricate play mechanics, complicated strategy, and extensive storyline into a touchscreen. Planets Defense does a great job of making the controls work for high-speed gameplay and micro-management, but it still isn't quite a fully realized strategy experience. All things considered, it's still lot of fun and one of the best efforts I've seen.

Last Updated: April 24th, 2013

If the phones that Pantech has released in America thus far have been your sole exposure to the South Korean manufacturer, you might be surprised to learn that the company has some legitimately awesome hardware in its home territory. The Pantech Perception... isn't. While it competes with the likes of the Galaxy S III on paper, at least in some respects, a combination of old software and expensive hardware makes this new Verizon phone a hard sell to anyone who wants a high-powered device.

One of the best things about Android is its nearly-infinite customizability for users who are willing to put in the effort it takes to make it happen. The thing is, in order to get some of this functionality, less-than-savvy users are daunted by the task of doing things like flashing custom kernels. On the other side, some users just don't want to be troubled with kernel tweaks, but still want the advanced functionality that they can bring.

Hey Stratosphere owners – think Verizon forgot about you? That doesn't seem to be the case, as the company has just updated its i405 support docs with details of a new OTA update that should begin rolling out shortly. It's mostly a bug fixer, which looks to fine-tune the experience after the most recent OTA.

Post-update, you should find that voice calls sound better, emails should send more reliably when using Outlook, and some of the Verizon-specific apps (like My Verizon and VZtones) have been updated.

Back in August of '12, Sony teamed up with Google to make the Xperia S an officially supported AOSP device. The project initially got off to a decent start, but after an issue with some proprietary software binaries that couldn't be released by either Sony or Google, the project was canned on the official side and moved to Sony's GitHub, where it can still be found today.

Now, the company is doing something similar with the Xperia Z, minus Google's interaction from the get-go.

You may be familiar with Linden Lab as the folks behind the once very popular online world Second Life. The company also has a cross-platform mobile app called Creatorverse, which used to cost $4.99. Now, that app is free with in-app purchases, and users who paid for it are a bit confused.

Creatorverse is a sandbox-style app that lets you build various contraptions, machines, and puzzles with a wide array of tools.

Update: Some early pre-order folks are saying their devices are supposed to arrive on the 25th. It might only be newer pre-orders that are going out on the 30th.

If you're planning to pick up Samsung's latest and greatest on AT&T's LTE network the instant it's available, start checking your email for tracking numbers on April 30th. That's when pre-orders for the Galaxy S 4 will begin going out to customers.

I spent the better part of four years before the keyboard as a graphic designer, but when it comes to programming and development, I don't know Java from a small Indonesian island. If you're a designer who's been tasked with creating the visual elements for an Android app, you need to check out Peter Nohejl's Android cheatsheet for Graphic designers. It's got pretty much everything you'll need when preparing visual assets, plus bonus help when preparing promotional materials for the Play Store.
