Let's get something out of the way right from the start. The LG G Pad 7.0 isn't a particularly exciting piece of hardware. It's powered by a Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. That 7-inch display only provides 1280 by 800 pixels. On the software front, you're looking at Android 4.4.
But if you turn your eyes towards Woot, you will see that the site is offering a refurbished LG G Pad 7.0 LTE for only $89.99. Read More
Far be it from me to tell gigantic companies like Turner Broadcasting or Time Warner what to do with their Android apps. But when the last version of your official streaming app has what look like Froyo screenshots on the Play Store (from back when it wasn't even the Play Store), it might be time for an update. Adult Swim, the allegedly grown-up portion of Cartoon Network's programming block, now has a much more modern app for fans to watch new shows and back episodes. Read More
It's 2012 and WebMD, one of the web's leading medical information sources, has decided to get its affairs in order and finally brush up its Android application to implement those cool holo design ideas that Google unveiled back in October 2011. Waiiiiiit. Checks calendar. Refreshes time & date. Checks calendar again. I'll be damned, it's 2015!
But let's not call the Material Police just yet. I've attended medical lectures in this decade presented with the Comic Sans font — by comparison, Holo is the peak of modernism. And let's just say that the folks in the medical profession are more concerned with their cells than their pixels. Read More
A few weeks ago, WhatsApp's Call feature made a small appearance for a few users, but at the time almost no one was able to trigger it reliably and keep it activated. Read More
Before we continue, let's get a couple of things straight: this is the DROID Turbo (model number XT1250), a souped-up version of the Moto X 2014 that's exclusive to Verizon in the United States. It's ostensibly a sequel to the DROID Maxx from 2013, and like almost all Verizon-branded devices, it has a locked bootloader. No custom ROMs for the poor DROID Turbo. And this is the Moto Maxx (model number XT1225), the exact same phone released without the Verizon branding or a locked bootloader, and currently sold only in Latin America. Read More
The latest Humble PC & Android Bundle is a week old, and you know what that means. Yes, more games. Humble Bundle has added three more titles to the deal—Eufloria HD, Solar Flux, and Toast Time. If you want to try your luck, we've also got 10 free bundle codes to hand out below.
What's this? A current-generation AT&T phone and its year-old sibling getting updated on the same day? We have an embarrassment of riches, folks. Just a few hours after the Lollipop over-the-air update for the Galaxy Note 4 started on Ma Bell, the Galaxy Note 3 (from 2013) is getting the same treatment. AT&T's support page says that this is Android 5.0, build number N900AUCUEOC1.
As AT&T does with all their updates, the OTA will only start on Wi-Fi (and not that mobile connection that you're paying them to provide). Read More
Motorola has done great things for mid-range Android phones with the first and second generation Moto G. The pricing of these unlocked phones is usually very good, but it's even better today if you fancy the first gen Moto G with LTE. That device is $40 off today only, making it just $159.99.
Azure is Microsoft's answer to cloud computing, a back-end platform that powers services with general computer users knowing nothing of its role (or existence). Now the company is taking its offering mobile by announcing the Azure App Service.
This mobile-geared expansion of Microsoft's cloud platform lets developers create web apps using a framework of their choice, including .NET, Java, PHP, and Python. It supports the creation of native apps on mobile platforms, including Android. Read More
