Smart Lock in Lollipop encompasses both trusted face and trusted devices, but a new option is joining the party—trusted places. The latest Google Play Services for Lollipop devices is adding this option to the menu automagically. Just choose a trusted place, and your phone will remain unlocked when it's in that geographic area.

T-Mobile's VoLTE rollout is continuing full steam ahead, and today, the Uncarrier is giving more customers access to it thanks to a new software update for LG's mammoth G Flex.

Earlier this year, Nokia surprised everyone by developing an interesting Android app called Z Launcher. Back then, it was only available for beta participants as an APK download on Nokia's website. Today, along with its Android N1 tablet announcement at Slush 2014, the company has revealed that Z Launcher is making its official debut on the Play Store.

If you haven't tried Z Launcher before, you should think of it as Yahoo's Aviate with Google Gesture Search running on top.

Brazilian readers have had access to Google's music store and cloud song storage for only a couple of months, but it looks like they now have access to the subscription music service as well. Brazil has been added to the list of countries with access to, uh, All Access, and at least one Google+ user has been given the promotional message on the Google Play Music Android app. Hop to it, music fans.

Most of us don't want to think of Android without Google Play services. There's a good reason for that, without all of the tools Google offers, we would miss out on features like push notifications, integrated maps, and even newer things like Google Fit. Developers keep asking for more and Google is answering that call. With the latest release of Google Play services, new features are coming to Fit, Maps, Drive, And Wallet.

We know a good number of you rely heavily on microSD cards. Cloud storage is nice, but they serve as something different, perhaps supplementary to physical memory expansion. So if you're in the market for some more cards to stick into your phones or tablets, Amazon has no shortage of flash memory on sale as today's Deal of the Day. PNY MicroSD cards are ranging from $7.49 (16GB - 40MB/sec) to $29.99 (64GB - 90MB/sec), with varying sizes and speed classes to choose from between the two extremes.

Whenever Google announces a new version of Android, everyone wants to know when they'll get it. If you're an NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet owner, today is your day for Lollipop. That's pretty incredible, as this update comes just days after Google started sending the 5.0 update to most of its own devices. In fact, ST is the first non-Nexus tablet to land the Lollipop update. It's worth noting that, while the update is ready for both the LTE and Wi-Fi versions of the device, NVIDIA is waiting on carrier approval for the LTE update, so it'll be pushed back just a bit later.

If you've been following the gaming news at all, you know that the biggest release of the week is the latest iteration of Ubisoft's sandbox shooter Far Cry. The fourth game moves the action to the Himalayan country of "I Can't Believe It's Not Tibet," and tasks you with leading a ragtag army of rebels against an oppressive and tyrannical dictator. (Seriously, still not Tibet.) Ubisoft can't make a big-budget game without releasing a mobile counterpart, so say hello to Far Cry 4 Arena Master.

Samsung tablets usually don't do much for me - if I'm not discouraged by the software, then the physical navigation buttons are a major turn-off. But I must admit that the Super AMOLED screens on the Tab S series turn my head every time I see them. If you've been hunting for one of your own, the 10.5" Galaxy Tab S is on sale in refurbished form over on eBay. It's going for $334.99, a full $165 off of the retail price.

Now that Amazon has consolidated most of its Android offerings into a single Play Store app, the company will need to keep it updated and relatively interesting to remain relevant to users. The first major update since the redesign does just that, making sure that the Amazon app is compatible with the new Android 5.0 devices and software builds. But wait, there's more! The updated app now includes support for Android Wear.
