Update: Public Service Announcement: I'm an idiot. My sincere apologies to everyone. This post was totally wrong. I misread the PR and really had no idea an "Unlimited Value Plan" was special or cheaper.

So let's try this again.

T-Mobile is having a sale! "Magenta Saturday" is one day only, this Saturday, November 19th. You will save money, but it's complicated. Pay attention.

T-Mobile has two totally different sets of plans.

If you're the type who likes to keep their head deeply nuzzled in the stock market, then you probably already have a mobile phone full of apps to help you stay connected. If there's one thing I know about Android users, though, it's that we can never have too many apps - especially when they rub the belly of our favorite hobbies, obsessions, or other dependencies just right. So, for all you business, accounting, or other finance-minded folks, CNN Money just landed in the Android Market for phones and Google TV.

Fresh Google Voice update! GV got bumped to 0.4.2.38, and some of the most requested features are finally hitting Google Voice. Let's get to it:

  • Voicemail Prefetch will automatically download your voicemails as soon as they are available, so you can listen to them when you have no data coverage.
  • Group Messaging will let you spam all your friends at once with the same message, just comma separate numbers or names in the "To:" box.

While this app may not be useful to everyone out there, the concept is still pretty cool and could be quite useful for those who handle event management, ticket tracking, workshops, etc.

So, what is Eventbrite? It's a service that allows you to create and manage events, sell tickets, and keep track of attendees. The Eventbrite Easy Entry Android app is a key part of the service, as it allows you to scan the QR codes from tickets, essentially keeping up with who is there.

Of the many Honeycomb tablets currently on the market, we don't often talk about the Lenovo IdeaPad K1. To help Android developers automate some things and catch certain errors early on, the Android Tools team is pushing ahead with a new dev tool called Android Lint. Android Lint will be available in the next release of ADT (16) and Tools (r16).

If you're not familiar with the "lint" paradigm, a lint tool generally helps you validate your code using a certain set of rules in order to avoid common pitfalls.

Kairosoft, maker of the many popular Story games (such as Game Dev Story and Grand Prix Story), has released a new game called World Cruise Story. As with the other games, the title really says it all: your objective is to manage a cruise liner from top to bottom in order to meet objectives and make money, much like old-school games such as Sim City or Roller Coaster Tycoon.

While Netflix has had support (whether legit or not) for Android tablets for quite a while, there is one thing that can definitely be said about it: the interface was crap. Sure, it worked out great on the phone, but a lot of valuable screen real estate and key components of Android 3.1+ were going to waste on tablets. I guess the Netflix team realized this, because an update has been pushed to the tablet interface that fixes most of the aforementioned issues.

Thrive owners, grab your slate and start checking for updates -- Android 3.2 is now available. The bump in Android version is the nuts-and-bolts of this update, along with improved screen rotation speed.

The changelog also notes that the YouTube and Android Market widgets may disappear after installing the update due to "a change in the application naming convention," but they can simply be added back.

So, hit the update app, cross your fingers, and hope it all works out better for the Thrive than it did the Galaxy Tab 10.1

In case you were wondering or had any doubt at all, the CyanogenMod 9 wheels are now in motion (as promised), and in a few months (likely weeks for nightlies) delicious ICS will drip onto 68+ supported Android devices, some completely forgotten by carriers and manufacturers. If you ask me, that's the best thing that could happen to them anyway - what do carriers know about keeping their devices up-to-date with Android, right?
