Battery not working correctly? Well, just defrag it! It's all so obvious now. No, but really, there's an app in the Play Store that claims to repair your battery and basically looks like a hard drive defrag program. The weird part, it's been in the Play Store for a long time and people (some of them real) rate it quite highly. This is very sad.
AT&T customers with a regular need to dial numbers in Mexico are about to save some money. The wireless carrier announced today unlimited calling to our southern neighbor, available to anyone who adds the World Connect Value package to their postpaid plan. Folks who already have the $5 add-on will receive the benefit automatically.
This announcement comes after AT&T finished its $2.5 billion acquisition of lusacell, Mexico's third largest wireless provider, last week. Read More
With all the limited promotions, holiday sales, and convoluted pre-order schemes, you'd think that OnePlus would get it freakin' over with and just sell the flagship One phone directly to consumers already. And they will... for just one day. Considerably less than one day, in fact, since the promotion will actually only be available for two hours, 7-9PM Eastern Standard Time. That's in North America - in Europe it will go on sale at 7-9PM Greenwich Mean Time, and in Hong Kong and Taiwan it goes on sale from 7-9PM Hong Kong Time (presumably tomorrow, since it's already passed for the 20th). It's easy to forget, but T-Mobile USA is still owned by German firm Deutsche Telekom. In a recent speech given at the DLD conference in Munich, Germany, DT CEO Tim Höttges said that T-Mobile's un-carrier promotions won't be enough to keep T-Mobile going. The only long-term solution, apparently, is a merger.
The HTC One M8 on AT&T is getting an update starting today, and it makes a few significant changes. What it doesn't do is bring Lollipop to the device—it's 4.4.4. The wait for Lollipop shall continue, I'm afraid.
Xperia Z3 Tablet owners with a custom ROM addiction may be happy to know that CyanogenMod now has the hook up. If you're excited by this news, you can head over to CyanogenMod's crib, knock on the door, and ask for scorpion_windy. Just be careful. Scorpion_windy might not be in the mood.
On your way out, tell any DROID Maxx owners you know that CyanogenMod may have someone in the back working on obake again, because there are two freshly zipped files currently up for grabs. Read More
You will soon have fewer options for getting web content from your computer to your phone. Google is pulling the Chrome to Mobile browser extension and shutting down the "Print to my Phone" feature from Google Cloud Print in early February. Users are instructed to use tab sync instead.
There's a new Humble Mobile Bundle available, and you know what that means. Yes, tons of cheap games and more on the way. The bundle kicks off with a few awesome puzzlers, platformers, and tower defense games. And there's no DRM on any of it.
