Normally, we don't get very excited about leaked images of mid-range devices. This one is no exception.
Still, it is a first look at a new device, so that counts for something.
What you're looking at there is a Samsung device codenamed Jasper. It's a mid-ranger with specs to match:
- 1.5GHz Dual-core Snapdragon MSM8960
- 800x400 display (ewww)
It's hard to say how large the display is judging by the image, but we'd guess it's probably around four inches. Read More
Users of Motorola's Atrix 2 who have been yearning for a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich on their devices have something to be excited about today – earlier this morning, an official ICS OTA update was leaked, or rather discovered using CheeseCake, a tool that essentially allows individuals to check specialized Moto servers for updates, meaning no company personnel need be involved in the leak. Here's a quick explanation from our contact Manoj:
Almost all Motorola based Android distros are fist put through a planning then development stage.
Verizon announced the Droid Incredible 4G LTE back in May, and... well, that's it. We haven't heard anything else about the device since (on an official level, anyway), even though it was supposed to be available in "the coming weeks" after the announcement. In all fairness, "weeks" could be any range of time, but we generally think of that as two or three, not seven or nineteen.
Finally, though, a probably release date has leaked. Read More
About a month ago, Motorola updated its Ice Cream Sandwich update timeline. While we've already seen one update go live on schedule, we're still waiting on official word for the rest of the handsets on the list. Late last night, however, an ICS ROM for the Droid Bionic surfaced, and it seems to be a mostly-complete build.
Flashing this is extremely risky, and could potentially brick your device. You've been warned!
A couple images of the rumored Droid RAZR HD just landed on Droid Life, showing off the back and side the device; while that really isn't much, at least it's something.
For starters, it's pretty obvious that Motorola stuck with the distinct RAZR Kevlar backing, which is quite nice. Otherwise, there's a camera - rumored to be 13MP - a flash, a speaker, and of course, the 4G LTE logo and Verizon branding. Read More
It seems like we've been hearing about a Motorola device headed to AT&T codenamed "Dinara" for eons now. A new press shot of this elusive device has now fallen into the hands of The Verge, and it shows a very different handset than the one sharing the same codenamed that was released in China last year.
As you can see, this device is definitely running Ice Cream Sandwich, with a seemingly tolerable version of Motoblur (or whatever they're calling it these days) slapped on top of it. Read More
S Voice is Samsung's entry into the fledgling "virtual assistant" market currently occupied by Siri, Evi, Speaktoit Assistant, Vlingo, and a handful of others. The Galaxy S III rom leaked earlier today, and while most of the stuff in it is broken and completely useless without the version of Touchwiz it's meant to run on, S Voice is a perfect combination of being interesting AND working. So we're going to take a look at it on my Galaxy Nexus, which is currently running vanilla (well, AOKP) 4.0.4. Read More
Hey kids! Looking for an early taste of the new Touchwiz? Well you're in luck! A leaked Galaxy S III ROM is out in all it's bandwidth crushing glory! A whopping 800MB download awaits those eager to get their hands on Samsung's latest.
The Galaxy S III and its new version of Touchwiz will make about a million additions to Android. Somewhere in this download are things like S-Voice (a Siri-style virtual assistant), Pop-up Play (a floating video window), and Smart Stay (which uses the front facing camera to refresh the screen timeout), just to name a few. It's nothing new for images or specs of a device to leak prior to its announcement, but this time it does dash the hopes of some Android fans to bits. The Samsung SPH-L300 for Sprint was first leaked in a user profile that lacked any real information. It was put forth that this could be the Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy S III already in testing, but if this new leak is to be believed, this is a completely different and thoroughly mid-range device.
