Leaked Shot Of The HTC Nexus 9 Shows A 4:3 Tablet That Looks Very Similar To Its Predecessor

HTC is expected to take another crack at this whole Nexus thing within a matter of weeks, and a leaked image of the company's tablet has hit the web courtesy of @upleaks. The image isn't particularly crisp, but if you look past the blurriness, you can see a 4:3 Android tablet that looks not unlike last year's installments in the Nexus line.

[Update: Another Photo] This Guy Seems To Be Using Motorola's Nexus 6 While Commuting

Just a couple of days ago, we posted a quick look at what the next Nexus phone would look like (along with some spec confirmations), based on new information and materials we had seen. That image however, as stated before, was just a reproduction of what we'd seen (redrawn to protect our source and eliminate any possible identifiers). Today, though, we have what looks like a photo of the device.

Of course, we've seen alleged photos of this phone before, but one only showed the back, and one was very poorly lit.

Yet Another Photo Purports To Show Shamu, Motorola's Gigantic Maybe-Nexus

Relative to last year's downpour of Nexus 5 leaks, there's been a bit of a drought in Nexus phone rumors this season. So far, we know that Motorola is expected to have made a large Nexus device codenamed Shamu, which multiple sources have affirmed and which is supposed to share an impressive spec sheet with another device codenamed Quark. This device is supposed to be set for a November release.

The Information: Google Slowly Tightening Android Experience Requirements For OEMs, Here Are Some Of The Interesting Ones

The Information published a story today regarding the contracts phone and other Android device makers are required to sign in order to certify their devices as Google-approved. While many of the details are, to be frank, utterly mundane (like the previously-leaked boot screen logo requirement) or things we've tended to assume, there are few pieces of information worth picking out.

First, the name of the agreement these OEMs are required to sign is called a MADA - Mobile Application Distribution Agreement.

This Very Large Motorola Device Could Be Shamu, The Next Nexus Phone (Or It Might Not Be, We Aren't Sure)

Posted in Droid-life's comments section earlier, this photo seems to depict a very large Motorola device next to an AT&T-branded LG G3. The G3 has a 5.5" display. This unknown Motorola hardware thus has a display substantially larger than 5.5", say somewhere in the 5.9" neighborhood maybe? So yes, this very well could be Shamu, the upcoming Nexus phone that we're pretty sure is going to be a thing in the near-ish future.

Leaked Images Purport To Show The Upcoming Droid Turbo For Verizon

Last year Motorola announced the Droid phones alongside the Moto X, but this year the new Moto X is about to hit the shelves and there's still no official word on new Droid phones. However, a Google+ posting by HeloMotoHK claims to show the rumored Droid Turbo in all its glory. Yep, it still looks like a Droid.

Leaked Photos Show Off The Galaxy A5, A Supposedly Metal-Like Phone With Mid-Range Specs

The Galaxy A5 appears to be an awkward phone to get excited about. SamMobile has gotten its hands on exclusive photos of the device, the SM-A500, which should be the first in a new line of A-branded phones. What makes this particular handset interesting are its build materials. SamMobile's source says that Samsung has used a different material that isn't plastic or metal but still "feels cold in the hand."

To me, this sounds like Samsung has had so much success producing faux leather backs that it's ready to try its hand at fake other materials.

An Exclusive Early Look At The Google Play Store's 5.0 Update

A couple of months ago, we shared an early look at an impending Play Store update that saw more "materialized" content listings, but the rest of the interface remained largely unchanged. The new, more image-focused interface made thoughtful use of increased white space and introduced some really fun tablet layouts for content listings from movies to books, music, and apps.

This time, we have an early look at the Play Store's upcoming 5.0 release.

[Oops] NVIDIA Name Drops 'HTC Nexus 9' In Legal Docs

There was an interesting little tidbit buried in the legal filings related to NVIDIA's patent suit against Qualcomm, which was just announced last week. The issue surrounds various GPU technologies that NVIDIA says Qualcomm is using without a license. More interesting than all that legal mumbo-jumbo is what NVIDIA had to say about an upcoming Tegra K1 device—the HTC Nexus 9. Yes, they actually said it.
