Xperia-Z3-Compact-inferior

It's been less than six months since Sony announced the top-of-the-line Xperia Z2 back at Mobile World Congress, but it looks like the company may be ready to release yet another iteration at IFA in Berlin. A Facebook fan page (reported by the reliable XperiaBlog) posted photos of what looks a lot like the next Xperia superphone, the Z3. A sticker on the device includes specifications, though there's no way to confirm them.

Earlier last month, we posted an exclusive story about Google's explorations into a product called "Workshop," which would allow users to customize snap-on cases and live wallpapers for their Nexus phones. The effort would be a major step-up in what has historically been an inconsistent lineup of accessories for Google's devices.

From information made available to us, it appears Google plans to continue upping the offerings when HTC's nine-inch Nexus tablet becomes official.

It looks like Motorola is prepping a revamped version of its Skip accessory in time for a Moto X successor later this year, and it's going to be called.. Skip. According to some FCC documents that someone shouldn't have published because they're apparently confidential, Skip is going to switch to a Bluetooth-powered (as opposed to NFC) design to gain some more useful functionality.

The HTC Fetch Motorola Skip's features include finding your keys (if Skip is attached to your key ring) with your phone's Skip app, finding your phone with Skip by double-pressing Skip's power button, and acting as a proximity lock for your Motorola smartphone (this feature will not work with non-Moto devices).

Yes, @evleaks has officially retired from leaking gadgets, but it appears Mr. Blass had one more treat for the tech community - images that appear to show the Moto X+1 in two variants, both emblazoned with Verizon logos. One is all-black, while the other sports a white front and a wooden back.

The images seem to match up with the images we previously leaked of what we believe to be the X+1, including the unique flash arrangement and somewhat confusing Motorola logo stamped into the back of the device.

Google has big plans for both YouTube and Google Play Music. We've heard a lot about YouTube's potential subscription music playback service, background audio, and offline playback, and there's been much speculation about what such an arrangement would mean for Play Music All Access. What we've got today gives those rumors and clues some clarity.

Here's the basic rundown - YouTube is set to launch a service called YouTube Music Key, and Google is set to rebrand Google Play Music All Access to Google Play Music Key.

It's only a few short weeks until Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note 4, and rumor has it the Korean smartphone giant is swinging for the fences in hopes of regaining momentum. We've seen some images of what may be the Note 4, but specs have come in dribs and drabs. Now large Indonesian smartphone seller Erafone has posted a product page for the Note 4 with a full set of (possibly legit) specs.

According to Florian Kiersch (who has uncovered many in-progress Google projects including Google Stars), Google is testing a new Hangouts experience for now codenamed Ultra Violet.

Kiersch says (and shows) that Ultra Violet will present significant interface changes for Hangouts, including a new Chrome extension that would introduce a floating, Chat Heads-style icon on the desktop, which users could move around freely.

Once the circle is clicked, Kiersch says, the Hangouts welcome screen would appear to introduce users to the new experience.

It's been a few months since Google accidentally left the Stars bookmark management extension visible in the Chrome App Store. We had been hearing about the development of Stars for some time before that, so its appearance was not entirely surprising. However, Mountain View removed the listing and didn't mention Stars at I/O this year. Now Florian Kiersch has gotten a look at the updated version of Stars. It's clear Google is still making improvements to the service, but it's definitely not done yet.

Samsung has successfully clamped down on leaks in the last few years. The flagship Galaxy S5 was successfully kept under wraps until the announcement, although that device wasn't much of a surprise as far as specs or design go. The Galaxy Note 4 is expected to show its face at Unpacked in a few weeks, but what have we here? It looks like the Note 4 in a series of leaked pics.

Tucked into the end of an otherwise unremarkable promo video for the G3 Beat is a fleeting glance of a new, unannounced variant of LG's latest flagship device. The phone is unapologetically labeled the G3 Stylus. It looks identical to the G3 save for a slightly larger screen and, well, a stylus. This is the first we've heard of this particular phone, though it's hardly a surprising addition to the lineup.
