Google has certainly been busy today with all sorts of Play Store improvements, and here's a new version of the Android client to top it all off. Version 4.8.19 has started rolling out to devices, and we've got the APK below for you to install on your own.

We're digging in to see what's new. We already knew about the PayPal and some UI tweaks, but it's looking like there's more going on.

If you thought (like me) that Update Wednesday had concluded, you thought wrong. It appears Google's also started pushing an update to Google Play Games, bringing the app up to version 2.0 with Level-up notification controls, XP rankings, and a few UI changes.

Readers may remember Quests and Level-up notifications from one of our exclusives last month. The functionality, along with Snapshots, was confirmed in the official announcement of Google Play Services 5.0.

Earlier today Google flipped a switch enabling the screen casting feature it unveiled at Google I/O. If you have one of the supported devices, you don't have to do a thing to try it out. Just fire up Quick Settings and hit the screen cast icon. But if this isn't discoverable enough, Google has also updated the Chromecast app to bring more attention to the feature.

What's New

A Cast Screen option is now available in the navigation sidebar.

Update Wednesday is in full swing today with Chromecast, Google Camera, and now Gmail. It's not the Material Design update you were hoping for, but Gmail v4.9 adds at least one new feature in the form of Google Drive integration.

Just like the Docs app, Google's Sheets client has been updated today with an Android L fix and plenty of new features that make QuickOffice obsolete. The improvements are very similar to Docs, but it mimics Excel instead of Word.

We knew big changes were coming to Google's office suite with the announcement that QuickOffice was shutting down, but we didn't expect it this fast. Not only does today's Docs update fix that Android L incompatibility, it adds a ton of new features. Hold on to your butts.

What is this? Update Monday? Google's updates are becoming so prolific they cannot be contained by a single day of the week. Today the slow rollout of Google Play Music v5.6 has started, but before you get your hopes up, it's not a huge update. And no, it's not #materialyolo. There are still some notable changes, though.

Android 4.4.4 is just a minor security update, but what's the point of buying these Nexus and Google Play Edition devices if you can't have the latest and greatest no matter how minor the update? The Google Play Edition Moto G is finally living up to expectations with an OTA to Android 4.4.4. Just like the LG G Pad Google Play Edition (that's the LGGPGPE for "short"), this device is making the jump straight from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4.

The new Google keyboard in Android L brings the Material Design aesthetic to text input, but the APK pulled from L doesn't work quite right on other Android builds. It actually breaks the keyboard for most devices. No worries, though. An XDA user has tweaked it to work correctly on (probably) all Android 4.0 and higher devices. There is one method that requires root (it's actually a ZIP file) and one that might not work on all devices that's an APK.

Update: If you want to flash this new version of Keep, you'll need the latest GMS (Google Play Services) package, released yesterday, as well - you can get it here.

Just one day after Google's expanded introduction of Android Wear at I/O, one of the apps demonstrated in the keynote is being updated to support it. Most of us can't get our hands on the LG G Watch or the Samsung Gear Live until July, but for those who actually attended I/O, and who have one or the other as some awesome swag, the latest update to Google's Keep notation and reminder app will be a welcome one.
