Samsung rolling out S8 update to address red screen tint problem, Korea only for now

It looks like the fix for the S8 and S8+'s red-tint woes may soon be upon us. An update has started rolling out back in Samsung's home market. There's no news yet on how long it might take for the update to be deployed outside of Korea, and it might be subject to carrier approval, further delaying the process. But, there's no arguing that Samsung wasn't quick about it.

Lenovo publishes Android 7.0 Nougat release notes for the Moto X Pure, update likely to follow

The wait for Android 7.0 might almost be over for users of the Moto X Pure. Lenovo has just pushed the release notes for that particular phone's future Nougat update. News of the soak test for the device went out about a month ago, and it looks like the update might almost be ready for things to go live. There's no word on OTAs being released yet, though.

Xperia XZ and X Performance are the first Sony devices to get Android 7.1.1

Sony has been pretty quick with Android updates recently, at least for its highest profile handsets. The Xperia XZ and X Performance were the first Sony phones to see an update to Android 7.0 Nougat, and that was just 3 months after Google's Pixel and Nexus devices received it. Now, Sony is building on this good work by bringing the Android 7.1.1 update to both its flagships.

Update season for carrier locked Samsung Galaxy devices is in full swing. The two phones may not have even come out until today, but T-Mobile and Verizon have been on their toes. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ on everyone's favorite red and magenta networks have already been updated. T-Mobile is a bit scant on details, but Verizon has obliged with plenty of their own. Either way, the timely frequency of updates thus far bodes well for the future of the device.
