ZTE announces Android 7.1.1 preview for Axon 7 Mini users

ZTE managed to get Android 7.1.1 rolled out to the Azon 7 a few weeks ago, making it one of the few phones to have the latest build of Android. Now, it's the Axon 7 Mini's turn. Well... sort of. ZTE is starting up a preview program for the Nougat update, but not everyone will get access.

Samsung updates unlocked US Galaxy S7 to latest security patch, continues to ignore Nougat exists

Samsung has finally issued an update to the unlocked variants of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge sold in the US (the G930U and G935U, respectively), but it's going to come as bittersweet news for owners: Nougat is not in tow. While the OTA does bring the phones up to the latest Android security patch level, the long-awaited upgrade to Android 7.0 is nowhere to be found.

Pixel C gets the Pixel Launcher, Pixel-style nav buttons, and more in 7.1.2 beta 2 [APK Download]

The Pixel C is still the flagship Android tablet from Google, even though it's more than a year old now. Although, it wasn't really living up to its name. Despite all the new things happening with the Pixel brand, the Pixel C didn't even have the Pixel Launcher. That changes with the new 7.1.2 beta, which adds the Pixel Launcher and Pixel-style nav buttons.

[Update: ZS570KL] Asus pushes Android 7.0 to the ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL)

Asus sort of missed the boat with the ZenFone 3 line, which took ages to come out in the US and then wasn't very competitive with other devices. The ZenFone 3 Deluxe was priced similarly to the OnePlus 3, but it wasn't as good. Asus isn't pretending the phone never happened, though. This phone is getting an Android 7.0 update, the first wide rollout of Nougat for Asus.

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Nougat updates start appearing in Europe

If you've been waiting with bated breath for Samsung to fulfill its promise to upgrade the Galaxy S6 series to Android 7.0, you can stop waiting... assuming you have one of the GSM unlocked models of the S6 and S6 Edge, that is. According to German tech site Giga.de, users in Europe are starting to see the Nougat update sent out to their phones, starting with at least one S6 Edge owner in Switzerland and continuing in the comments. That means that mainland Europe and the UK are probably looking at updates sometime soon, with the usual delays for localization and server rollout.

ASUS ZenFone 3 ZE520KL and ZE552KL get their Nougat OTA updates

We're finally getting to the point where Nougat software updates are coming at a steady clip from manufacturers. ASUS is getting in a few for its midrange phone hardware - just last week we saw the ZenFone 3 Deluxe get its software update (that really should have come out in December at the latest). Now it's the non-deluxe model's turn, specifically the ZE520KL and ZE552KL variants. Those are the 5.2- and 5.5-inch versions of the unlocked GSM phone, if you haven't memorized the alphabet soup of those model numbers.

Android 7.0 Nougat is rolling out to the Verizon Moto Z Play

Verizon used to be a wasteland when it came to Android updates, but things are better these days. Sometimes it's even ahead of the curve. The Nougat update for the Moto Z play isn't exactly ahead of schedule, but today's rollout isn't bad for a non-flagship phone.

Sprint's HTC One A9 gets its Nougat OTA update

We're finally getting a good, steady stream of Android 7.0 updates for major smartphones. Several months later than we'd like to have them, of course, but such is life in the current world of Android software. Today owners of the HTC A9 on Sprint get a turn, at least according to HTC's official support page. The page says that software update 2.18.651.2 includes an upgrade to Nougat, as well as bringing the core security patch up to January of this year.
