Android 6.0.1 Fixes The Annoying Failed MMS Bug In Marshmallow

Every release of Android comes with some bug fixes, but they aren't usually worth going over one-by-one. That's not the case with the infamous Marshmallow MMS bug, which has slowly driven many of us insane over the last few months. Thankfully, it was fixed in Android 6.0.1.

Motorola Says The Moto X Pure Edition Is Now Being Updated To Marshmallow On Verizon, Sprint, And US Cellular

Owners of the Moto X Pure Edition, ostensibly Motorola's flagship US phone at the moment, should be receiving the over-the-air update to Android 6.0 soon. That's according to Motorola employee David Schuster, who has shed light on upcoming updates many times before. He told his Google+ followers earlier today that the Marshmallow upgrade is currently being sent out to those Moto X Pure Edition phones on Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular. The updates follow shortly after the soak tests from last week.

Recall that the Pure Edition, which is compatible with all five major carriers in the US, is being sold directly from Motorola and isn't being distributed through carriers at all.

HTC: Unlocked One M9 Will Get Marshmallow Before Year's End, Same For One A9's Android 6.0.1 Update

HTC VP Mo Versi took to Twitter this morning to inform owners of the company's plans for the One M9's Marshmallow update, as well as the all-new A9's incoming bump to Android 6.0.1 (it ships with 6.0). Specifically, both devices can expect their respective software upgrades some time this month if all goes according to plan.

The unlocked One M8 is already getting Marshmallow, so while it is a bit odd that the newer M9 will be getting it later, at least it won't be that much later.

Yu Announces Cyanogen OS 12.1 (Android 5.1) Over-The-Air Update For The Yuphoria

Yu's Cyanogen OS-running Yuphoria phone, sold primarily to the Indian market, has had CyanogenMod 12.1 (Android 5.1) available for almost half a year now. The catch is that it's been available as a CyanogenMod nightly build, requiring end users to flash a custom recovery, then a custom ROM in order to access it. Yesterday, the Cyanogen company and Yu itself announced the over-the-air rollout of the finished, consumer-ready update for the stock software build.

The YOG4PAS47N build is Android 5.1.1/Cyanogen OS 12.1 (the official commercial updates from the incorporated company lose the -Mod suffix). To upgrade, users need to be running the latest version of the retail software, YNG1TBS2P2.

The Moto X Pure Edition Gets A Soak Test For Android 6.0 In The United States

Despite some recent controversy surrounding their upgrade policies, Motorola is still one of the fastest Android manufacturers on the draw when it comes to full version updates to their phones (at least the more expensive ones). The Moto X Pure Edition, the somewhat odd name for the unlocked version of the Moto X Style sold in the United States, is getting its first major bump since release soon. According to at least one of our readers, the soak test for Marshmallow is coming in hot after some initial testing back in October.

Nexus 6 Owners On T-Mobile Are Finally Getting An Over-The-Air Update To Marshmallow

Good grief, T-Mobile has been awfully late in providing the Android 6.0 update to Nexus 6 users on its network. That kind of behavior is positively... carrier-like. But as of Friday the rollout for Marshmallow should have finally begun, at least if you're anywhere near a Wi-Fi network - according to T-Mobile's support document, a full OTA including the cellular network will begin later. As always, it might be several days until you see the update alert on your specific device.
