Here at Android Police, we can't get enough good deals on apps. It's just in our DNA. And sometimes, our deal-seeking genetics tell us to do things we may have some reservations about. Like recommending free apps on the Amazon Appstore - which has its pros and cons. Today was one of the days where we couldn't help ourselves.

Amazon currently has a promo going on called "Free App of the Day Greatest Hits," in which many of the most popular free apps of the day are on sale for the low, low price of - you guessed it - zilch.

If you're into massive, sprawling strategy RPG's, HyperDevBox Studio's Spectral Souls, Blazing Souls, and Generation of Chaos are titles you may already own. If you don't, though, now's probably the best time to invest, as HyperDev has slashed prices on its entire library by 50%.

The price drop brings all three of the developer's games down to near as makes no difference to $7 apiece, and all of them are top-quality ports of old JRPG's from the original PlayStation.

If you've finished all your holiday shopping and want to relax by getting something fun for yourself, there are plenty of apps and games for sale in the Play Store to occupy your time. Just like our list of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals last month, we've put all the on-sale offerings we can find into one big, easy-to-look-at list for your convenience. From The Adventures of Tin Tin to SwiftKey 3, any Android user should be able to find something enjoyable on our list.

Smack in the middle of the holiday season, Gameloft has cut prices on just about all of its paid games in a "Holiday Frenzy." If you've got a couple dollars to spare and some time to kill, Gameloft likely has something you'll enjoy, slicing prices on everything from The Adventures of Tin Tin to Wild Blood down to a mere $0.99. Conspicuously absent from the sale is Modern Combat 4, but the 12 other deals make up for its exclusion (though this writer posits that the game may just be worth its $6.99 price tag).

The gravy train just keeps on  rolling for thrifty Android games. In addition to the dozens of titles on sale from other developers, retro specialist DotEmu has put all three of its Android titles on sale. You can pick up classic platformer Another World for $1 (75% off), shooter legend R-Type for a dollar (40% off), and shoot-em-up anthology Raiden Legacy for three bucks (40% off).

All three are solid games with 4+ stars on Google Play, well worth it if you're a fan of the original games or just the genres in question.

Newsflash, Android users: the Google Drive/Docs app is terrible. It's just about competent enough to read the documents you've written elsewhere, but for editing and creating new Word, Excel, and PDF documents, you need something with a little more oomph. One of the best choices out there is OfficeSuite, and it's also one of the most expensive, at $15. But right now you can - and should - pick it up for a single dollar.

Starting today, the network is offering a selection of 4G devices for $0 down payment with its Unlimited Value and Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data plan.

The offer lasts until December 31 and includes a number of Android devices, such as Samsung's Galaxy S III, the HTC One S, and the LG Optimus 9.

Wild Blood, the game that challenges players to "live the unforgettable journey of Sir Lancelot" (in a universe where Lancelot incurs King Arthur's wrath by having an affair with Queen Guinevere, leading to the introduction of hellish demons to Earth), got our stamp of approval in October as a great game for "mindlessly slicing monsters to death," but it may have been a hard purchase to justify for some players at a cost of $6.99.

You! Yes, you, with the Galaxy Tab running Gingerbread! You are officially out of excuses for not having a Nexus 7. (Unless your excuse is that you don't have a hundred and eighty bucks.) Google and Asus' seven-inch love child is just $179.99 for the 32GB version - a savings of a whopping $70 - at Gamestop's online store. The only catch is that it's "Gamestop Premium Refurbished".

Gamestop Premium Refurbished means that it was traded in to Gamestop as a used item, and the company's service department has done some kind of work on it.
