For those unable to wait on the Galaxy Nexus, Samsung's Nexus S can still hold up against the competition in many ways. It may only pack a single-core processor, but it's a Nexus phone, meaning it is still one of Google's flagship Android devices, and will have active development and timely updates for a while yet. If you've been patiently waiting for your shot at a bargain on the Nexus S, now's your chance - Mobile Daily Steals is offering this beauty (unlocked) for just $299.99 with an international warranty, about $60 lower than Amazon's lowest price (without warranty).

For those who may be out of the loop, here are some of the Nexus S's specs:

  • 4" 480x800 Super AMOLED display
  • 1GHz Hummingbird processor
  • 512 RAM
  • 16GB on-board storage
  • 5MP rear camera,  and a VGA front-shooter
  • Stock Android 2.3.5

It may not pack the latest-and-greatest technology under the hood, but as far as unlocked Android phones that pack a nice punch, the Nexus S is a great option, and it can be yours for just $299.99, if you act in the next 22 hours.

Last month we saw an unlocked version of Samsung's Galaxy SII at Mobile Daily Steals for a cool $100 off its original price. If you were hoping to get an ever so slightly deeper discount on Samsung's hottest smartphone to date (still waiting on the Galaxy Nexus), your chance has arrived. For the next 24 hours, a "limited quantity" of SIIs are available on eBay for just $489.99.

If somehow you've forgotten, or haven't been paying attention, here are some of the SII's specs:

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread

  • 4.3" WVGA Super AMOLED Plus Display

  • 8MP rear shooter and 2MP front shooter

  • 1GB RAM

  • 1.2GHz Dual-Core ARM Cortex A9 Processor

I don't usually post Amazon Appstore apps outside of our social media accounts, but today I felt compelled. There are a few options when it comes to office replacement apps that can read and write all your docs, presentations, and spreadsheets - most of them costing over $10. I've been eyeing OfficeSuite for a while, but never really bothered to try it out.

Well, I just did because OfficeSuite Pro 5 is free at the Amazon Appstore today, and after playing with it, I have to say it's the best office app for Android I've tried so far (at least based on my first impressions).

So, you want to jump over to Sprint, but don't need the fastest device on the planet? Both Amazon Wireless and Wirefly have a good deal going on the just released EVO Design 4G by HTC: $50. Update: It's still $50 at Wirefly, but Amazon Wireless just dropped the price to $30. Of course, this requires a new two-year contract, so all current Sprintsters will be stuck paying $80, which still saves about $20 over the in-store price.

EVO-Design-600x532

Specs:

  • 4-inch qHD display
  • 1.2GHz single-core Snapdragon processor
  • 5MP rear shooter with HD video capture (720p), 1.3MP front cam
  • Android 2.3.5 with Sense
  • WiMax

As part of a special Halloween promotion, Gameloft is offering two of its premium titles (as well as Uno) on the Android Market for a paltry $0.99 each for a "limited time." We assume this means until Halloween, but Gameloft's app descriptions don't specify.

Order And Chaos is the largest (and really only) MMORPG on Android, and with your $0.99 purchase you'll receive a free 3 month game subscription, after which you'll have to pay a monthly fee to continue accessing the game. Order And Chaos recently suffered a security breach, compromising numerous players' accounts, and the sale may be an attempt to mitigate some of the fallout from that gaff.

It looks like Amazon's Gold Box and Woot! have paired up to offer a discount on the Motorola Xoom today. If you hurry, you can grab a factory refurbished, 32GB Xoom for just $339.99 (with free shipping), which is about $15 less than the last deal we saw from Woot! on the original Honeycomb tablet.

image

The deal will only be available until 12AM PDT tomorrow, so if you've been waiting for your chance to get a Xoom on the cheap, head over to Amazon and take advantage of the discount before time runs out. (Just click on "n refurbished from $339.99" to get the deal)

Atrix 2

AT&T's fall line-up of smartphones got a boost today with the Motorola Atrix 2 going on sale for $99.99 with a 2-year contract.

Atrix2(2)

However, if you are a new customer signing up for a 2-year contract, we would strongly recommend heading to AmazonWireless and picking up the device for only $49.99.

Atrix2

Unfortunately, the deal isn't so great for current customers as they will have to pay $199.99 for the handset.

Atrix2(1)

Those who already have an AT&T contract may be feeling left out by Amazon's lack of a discount, but fear not as Best Buy is offering the Atrix 2 for $49.99 to ALL its customers, regardless of whether they are upgrading or signing up for a new line.

If you've been considering making the jump over to T-Mo and aren't interested in the power-packed Amaze 4G, then there's a good chance you've been eyeing the Sensation 4G. If this scenario sounds familiar, then Best Buy's website is the place to be, as you can get the Sensation 4G for nary a dime.

2011-10-12 12h11_05

The Sensation is packing some pretty powerful innards under its hood:

  • 4.3-inch qHD Super-LCD
  • 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor
  • 768MB RAM
  • 8MP rear shooter, VGA ffc
  • 1GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • Android 2.3.4 with Sense 3.0

Now that we've taken a look at the hardware, check out some of the things that Best Buy highlighted:

Not one hundred dollars, not ten dollars, not one dollar, one cent. That's right, the LTE-packing Droid Bionic can be yours for a penny from Amazon Wireless if you're a switcher. Current Verizon customers have to pay the full $220. The usual hooks apply, it's a penny only on a 2 year contract.

Amazon is even throwing in free shipping. What more do you want? If you are still on the fence, check out our review of the Bionic here. We have no idea how long this will last, so read quickly.

Those of you holding out for the Galaxy Nexus (Prime), stay strong.

ideapadk1

The IdeaPad K1 from Lenovo, released earlier this year, is bursting with features and ports, but reviews suggest that it is perhaps not the best Android tablet available on the market today.  Nevertheless, it is a powerful little beast running Honeycomb and for the next two days (9 to 10 October) Best Buy is offering this device for only $329.99, that's $120 discount of the regular price ($449.99).

ideapadk1

In case you have forgotten, the K1 runs on Android 3.1 and has the following specs:

  • 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 processor
  • 10.1" (1280x800) display
  • Android 3.1
  • 32GB of storage
  • 1GB RAM
  • 5 MP rear camera, 2MP front cameras
  • Built-in 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • Mini HDMI output
  • microSD card slot

This deal probably won't appeal to Christy, who won an IdeaPad K1 in our banner design contest, but for the rest of you interested in Lenovo's Android offering, pick one up from BB by 10 October 2011.
