You may not remember the contest we had last month for the JLabs J4M ruggedized headphones, but I suggest you check the review out - they're a pretty good set of very tough earbuds. We gave away three pairs of J4Ms, courtesy of JLab, as part of the review. And the winners are:

  • Jason Taylor, from Texas, who entered via Twitter.
  • Bruce Cheek of Illinois, who entered via Google+.
  • Keith McCrory of Ireland, who entered via Google+.

Congrats to all of you - you'll be receiving your brand-new J4M headphones as soon as we can get them out to you!

Our 6th and largest ever giant giveaway is already underway, but where is the winner of the 5th one? You can blame me for that - I decided to take a little vacation and have only had time for peeking in here and there. Organizing and sorting through the entries is no small feat, and I finally found a couple of hours to do so on the quiet (for now - the hurricane is coming! :-S) coast of Cape Cod.

With over 4500 entries from Facebook, Google+, and Twitter (in this order of popularity), the 5th giveaway was great success.

In order to celebrate today's launch of TegraZone.com, the updated Tegra Zone Android app, and the new and really awesome Tegra-optimized game called Sprinkle, for our 6th giant giveaway we've once again partnered with NVIDIA, but this time the main prize - a 16GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 - is accompanied by a smashing bonus: the Tegra Zone power pack.

"What goes into this Pack?" you might ask, and I'll tell you. The Tegra Zone power pack consists of:

The winner of the giveaway will receive both the Tab 10.1 and the power pack, so I hope by now the "Supercharged" part of the title is starting to make a bit more sense.

Let's get real for a minute, shall we? When I say real, I mean real -- let's talk about protection. We all know of it, and while some of us use it regularly, others go without it all the time. Not only is this a horrible practice, but it's just not safe for any of the involved parties. Think about it, if you will -- what potential consequences could you suffer from going without protection? It's time to start acting a bit more responsibly -- it's time to get safe.

Naturally, I'm suggesting that you get a case for that expensive device in your pocket (where was your mind?).

The 7th Android Police book giveaway is now over, and we've picked the winners. A copy of Android 3.0 Application Development Cookbook will be shipped to each of the following readers who answered this question, as selected by Packt and Android Police:

What interests you the most about this book?

Joe Rivera:

What this book feels like to me is a great opportunity to learn about development the right way as opposed to searching 5 different forum sites just to get sent to 10 different webpages and have you give your email for more assistance that gets you 100 pieces of junk mail every day when all I wanted to know was where to start reading.

So, here's the deal: our friends over at AmazonWireless are having a contest in which they will be giving away $15k in cold hard cash. Since it will be difficult to decide who wins all by their lonesome, they pinged us and asked if we'd like to sit on the panel of judges. Naturally, we accepted the offer, because, well... why wouldn't we?

The Deetz

Ah, so you're curious as to what this contest is all about? Here's how it works: you make a 60-second (or less) video explaining how AmazonWireless simplifies the phone-buying process and upload it between now and September 28th.

Another week, another giveaway. This time we're giving away a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (16GB, Wi-Fi) courtesy of Simply Applied - developers of the apps Sign and CritiCall.

Sign is a gesture-based texting and dialing application, allowing you to associate a drawn figure with calling or texting a particular contact. CritiCall is another handy app, one that I'm considering buying now that I've taken a look at it. While your phone is on silent mode, it allows phone calls and texts from pre-selected contacts to override silent and play ringtones and notifications normally. This is great for those of us who like turning our phones down at night, particularly if you're expecting a phone call.

Taking a break from our regular social giveaways, last week we announced a creative contest to see which one of our readers can come up with the most creative 404 Page Not Found page for the site and in exchange win a brand new T-Mobile G2x Tegra-powered phone from NVIDIA.

Throughout the contest, I found myself absolutely blown away by some of your submissions, finding it harder and harder to decide who presented the best design. Now that I've sorted all 140 or so entries and selected the 20 best ones, I'm going to let all of you help us decide instead.

Ruggedized - doesn't the word just conjur up images of a tiger eating a Toughbook?

When I received the J4M headphones from JLab, I was unsure of how "rugged" an in-ear headphone could actually be. So, I decided to treat them less than, shall we say, "gently" over the last few weeks.

Now, it's not like I've gone dunking them in water or buried them in sand at the beach - that kind of behavior is at your own risk. But, I can say the J4M is a tough little piece of kit that won't disappoint in the durability department.
