What an incredible day for Samsung Fascinate users on Verizon Wireless - earlier this morning, we reported that the coveted Froyo update was finally set to arrive tomorrow, April 21st. Looks like someone at Verizon pulled the trigger a little earlier, as we are seeing multiple reports of the update rolling out as we speak write.

Want some proof? Have a look at the screenshot (that can easily take the top prize in the ugliest Android screen ever contest) our own Justin Case just pulled from his Fascinate:

So, grab your Fascinates and start mashing the Check for Updates button to see if your update is already waiting for you.

Verizon hasn't officially added the DROID Incredible 2 to its Android army yet, but don't tell Wirefly that - the online smartphone retailer just put up an unboxing video for HTC and Big Red's latest handset.

You won't find much that we didn't already know from past leaks, but the vid does provide a nice recap of the phone's specs:

  • 4-inch WVGA (800x480) TFT display
  • 8MP camera with dual Xenon flash
  • 768MB of RAM
  • 8GB micro SD card out of the box
  • 3G connectivity on Verizon's EVDO Rev.

All that time Fascinate owners spent waiting for Froyo has not been in vain - your day is finally coming. Officially announced by VZW via Twitter, all the frozen goodness that you can handle should start rolling your way first thing tomorrow. Assuming that it's handled the same way that past VZW updates have been, this update should drop in stages, so be sure to leave us a comment when you get yours.

As you may (or may not) recall, we crowned the DROID Bionic the most exciting device in Verizon's LTE lineup after playing with it at CES, but it appears that the version we saw might not be the version that'll end up in retail stores. Over the past few days we've heard countless reports that the device has been delayed (or even cancelled), and now a Motorola spokeswoman has reached out to the Wall Street Journal with this nugget of information:

Based on compelling feedback since the show, we are incorporating several enhancements to make this an even better consumer experience.

We've heard rumors that the sequel to the hugely popular HTC Droid Incredible would be hitting VZW stores on April 28th, and it looks like that date may well be the real deal. This morning, an app showcasing the Droid Incredible 2 landed in the Market, and much like the showcase app for the ThunderBolt, its sole purpose is for VZW employees to highlight tech specs.

Of course, all this really does is put us one step closer to a confirmed release date, so there's no reason I would suggest installing it.

Last week saw an update to the Tiamat kernel that enabled the XOOM's SD card slot, and now the modders are back with another hack (ugh, that rhymes, doesn't it?) for Motorola's Honeycomb tablet: ClockworkMod Recovery.

For those not familiar with Koush's geeky masterpiece, ClockworkMod is a universal recovery renowned for its ability to create full backups (aka nandroids) of a device to its SD card. To be clear, ClockworkMod has been available for the XOOM for a while now, but it hasn't really had a purpose since SD card functionality wasn't enabled.

There's little that we didn't already know about HTC's upcoming DROID Incredible 2, but if there was any lingering doubt on your mind, you'll be happy to hear that Droid Life has acquired the official spec sheet for the device:

Indeed, the Incredible 2 will feature a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 4-inch SLCD display, SRS WOW HD surround sound, a 16GB microSD card, an 8MP camera, and Android 2.2 out of the box.

Well, well, well... look what our friends over at Techno Buffalo have come across - the Droid X2! One of their loyal tipsters has sent in some really great pictures of the DX2, including side-by-side shots with the original Droid X. And as if that weren't enough, they even grabbed a quick video of this upcoming monster performing a Quadrant benchmark. I know you're probably frothing at the mouth to see that, so it's first in line:

Did you see that score?

Are you sitting down? Assuming you're reading this on your PC, I would imagine that you are. Unless, of course, you have a standing desk, in which case I urge you to sit down. We've seen it pop up on the web but haven't really heard anything about its price. This time, however, it looks like it made an in-store appearance at Walmart and brought a price tag along with it.

The XOOM's currently nonfunctional microSD card slot has likely turned off many a potential buyer, but – if you're willing to take your chances with unofficial software from the Android dev community – the problem has finally been solved.

The solution comes by way of an update to Tiamat, a custom kernel from XDA member bigrushdog. Installation is more or less identical to any other kernel, but if you need instructions, knock yourself out:
