Verizon's LG Intuition has long been an awkward kid at the lunch table. With a 5" display at 4:3 resolution, it's had a difficult time being accepted, much less competing. Even so, it has not been completely forgotten – Verizon is preparing to roll out a maintenance update to the device that will remove the Color and V Cast apps, fix some assorted bugs, and should improve speakerphone quality. There is one curious detail to this update, it also adds the Amazon Appstore. Read More
In the pantheon of devices bearing the name Nexus, there is one obvious black sheep. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus never really got the update love that GSM Nexus devices have, and there was that whole Google Wallet debacle. While the updates haven't been flowing quite like owners had hoped, a version of Android 4.2.2 is now rolling out to Verizon testers. It may only be a matter of time before the update is official. Motorola, through its Feedback Network, has indicated that it is readying a "new Jelly Bean software release" for the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX on Verizon, asking participants – as usual – to test the waters before the release is made final. We know that the RAZR/MAXX duo are set to get a 4.1 update in "Q1 2013" from Motorola's own update schedule, so the following email (sent to members of Moto's feedback network) is a good sign that things are on track. Earlier today, we highlighted a couple of forthcoming OTA updates for Verizon's Droid Incredible 2 and Rezound. Looks like the company wasn't finished approving updates for the day, however, as it just pushed some info to its support docs about a new build set to hit the LG Spectrum.
While it's not a game changer, Spectrum owners can expect a few bug fixes and enhancements, including improved dialer performance, the ability to use the camera while on a call, a better keyboard, and an option to send all calls to voicemail. Read More
Verizon is rolling out yet an OTA update to the HTC Rezound as of this morning, this one claiming to add "HTC Device Enhancement" (only one enhancement, obviously), so we're not quite sure what's inside. The new version number is 3.14.605.13 710RD, and you can probably expect it to begin rolling out some time this week.
The Incredible 2 is also getting some OTA love, with the some sort of cryptic changelog. Read More
Last month, we saw Motorola's Droid Razr Maxx HD offered up for $99.99 on Amazon for new accounts only. If you're already a Verizon subscriber who's looking to instead upgrade to the Maxx HD, you're in luck – it looks like Amazon has extended the offer to upgrade customers as well. For reference, Amazon's price puts the phone a full $200 below Verizon's own price.
Just in case you've forgotten, the Droid Razr Maxx HD packs a 4.7" 720x1280 display (that's 312ppi), 8MP camera, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, and 1GB RAM. Read More
Verizon's newest Droid is set to receive a software update over the air, and it actually has a number of important fixes and improvements. This isn't going to bump the device up to a new version of Android, but it's still a hefty download at 103.5 MB.
Here is the full list of changes coming in the update:
- User can load videos on HuluPlus
- Improvements to Hotspot connectivity have been made
- Improvements to Audio Quality for wired headsets and earpieces have been made
- Bluetooth connectivity and volume level for specific models have been improved
- Enhanced reliability and stability of the Contacts List have been made
- Wi-Fi Connectivity has been improved
- Improvements to default browser for zooming capability have been made
- Incoming messages display with the correct timestamp
- Enhanced Recent Apps functionality has been improved
Granted, a lot of this should not have been busted in the first place, but it's nice to see so many fixes in one package. Read More

Want a behemoth phone on Verizon, but don't feel like shelling out three-hundred dollars for it? Look no further than Amazon Wireless for your solution – it just dropped the price of the Note II on Big Red to $150 for new customers. That's half of what Verizon is asking. For the same phone. Existing customers can snag one for $190, so it's still a savings of over $100.
There's only one catch here: this deal is only for the Titanium Gray version of the massive handset. Read More
Just when you thought it couldn't go any lower, Amazon Wireless makes the Droid RAZR HD even more affordable. As long as you're willing to sign on for two years of Verizon service, that is. Amazon reduced the RAZR HD to $49 last week, but Wirefly leapfrogged Amazon to make the device free for upgrades (still $49 for new accounts). Not to be outdone, Amazon has dropped the price all the way to $19.99 on new accounts, and just $0.01 for upgrades. Read More
