Samsung Introduces The Continuum Galaxy S Series Phone In An Official Video

The Samsung Continuum, announced earlier this week, is going up for pre-order tomorrow. This Galaxy S series phone is the first Android device with a secondary ticker screen providing access to updates, a-la Android top notification bar. Some consider it a gimmick, some think it could be really useful, but you can decide for yourself after watching this official intro video, complete with overly cheerful (with the exception of the guy who lost money in the stock market) folks that apparently have 0 time to look at their actual phones and rely on the tiny 1.8" display instead. The ticker jumps in and saves the day, making everyone even more cheerful, no matter how impossible it may sound.

Verizon’s V CAST App Store Ripped Out Of The Latest Droid Incredible Update, Now Available For Download

Verizon's announcement of a separate Big Red branded Android Market, called the V Cast App Store, sent shockwaves through the Androidosphere a month ago, with the general consensus being: "we don't want it." Of course, none of us could actually prevent Verizon from fragmenting our Market situation further (they've already done their part with the MOTOBLUR to help fragment the Android OS itself), so all we have to do is go with the flow and see what exactly Verizon's cooked up.

Rather than wait for the official release, the folks over at TalkAndroid have got their hands on the installable APK ripped out of the latest Droid Incredible OTA a few days ago.

Verizon Begins Pre-Orders For Motorola Droid Pro ($180) And Droid 2 Global ($200)

Verizon's really steamrolling along with the Android train, aren't they? In addition to last night's official announcement of the Samsung Continuum, the Motorola Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global are now both up for pre-order. Just as we'd heard, the D2G looks to be $200 after rebates, while the DP, as announced yesterday, will clock in at $180 (both with a new contract).

Both devices are "world phones," meaning they pack both GSM and CDMA. The Droid Pro is a candybar form factor with a full QWERTY keyboard at the bottom - clearly aimed at the BlackBerry crowd. The Droid 2 Global, on the other hand, features a choice of two colors and a higher clocked processor than the regular ole' D2.

Verizon And Samsung Officially Announce Samsung Continuum: Pre-Order November 11 for $200

Right on cue, Verizon and Samsung have announced the Samsung Continuum, the newest member of the Galaxy S line of devices. Surprisingly, it looks like all the rumors had everything dead on (a rarity in the Android community). The details:

$200 on contract ($300 - $100 mail-in rebate)
Preorder begins November 11, goes on sale November 18
3.4" SAMOLED screen up top
1.8" SAMOLED "ticker" screen on the bottom
"Grip Sensor" along the bottom that lights up the ticker

Other than that, the specs are nearly identical to the Fascinate:

1 GHz Hummingbird
Android 2.1
5MP Camera with LED
WiFi (b/g/n)
8 GB microSD in the box
Bing Maps
Bing Search

The ticker doesn't have all the capabilities of a normal screen, but from the look and sound of it, it has nearly everything an average user would need - and we're sure that whatever isn't there from the start will soon come from the dev community.

Verizon's Motorola Droid Pro To Launch On November 18th For $180, Presale Starts November 9th

We've seen a leaked Verizon image showing the Droid Pro, Motorola's first serious answer Blackberry-style Android device, at the $180 price point before, but we never quite got the date. Today, Verizon went public with dates: we now know the device will go on presale tomorrow and finally be in your hands on November 18th. Price-wise, the Big Red officially confirmed the $180 price point, as expected, albeit after a $100 rebate. Not too bad for a business oriented device that can utilize voice and data in over 200 countries.

Verizon LTE Expert Confirms Existence Of HTC Incredible HD, Hints At LTE Support

A Verizon-bound LTE equivalent of the HTC EVO? Nope, that's no longer just a blissful dream for Big Red users, as @black_man_x, a Verizon employee working in the LTE division, yesterday tweeted out the following message:

To add on to that, he went on to tell Droid Life that the pictures of the Incredible HD that BGR obtained a few months ago are legit, although the device has since been "refined a bit." We've already seen one great EVO look-a-like, so let's hope this aluminum-clad beast is another.

Verizon Promo Offers A New 450 Minute Plan With Unlimited Text And Data For $69.99, 1400 Minute Family Plan For $139.99

Over the years, Verizon, the nation's largest wireless carrier, has been notoriously expensive plan-wise, especially compared to Sprint or T-Mobile. For example, you can currently get a 450 minute talk+text plan with unlimited data for $90 over at Verizon, while at Sprint, it will cost you $69.99 (+ the minutes can be used to call any carrier's mobile phone):

A new plan, or 2 plans to be exact, is being offered in a promotion, BGR found today, that are putting the current pricing to shame. Similar to Sprint, Verizon's new offer, sent to customers via email, now offers 450 minutes together with unlimited texting and data for $69.99, which is $20 cheaper than what we saw above.

Internal Verizon Document Reveals Motorola Droid Pro Will Sell For $180, Droid 2 Global And Samsung Continuum Will Be $200

Engadget's landed a classic Blurrycam shot of Verizon's internal system showing the prices for a handful of current and upcoming devices. Namely, the Motorola Droid Pro, and the still-unofficial Droid 2 Global and Samsung Continuum.

In simpler, blur-free text, that's:

Motorola Droid Pro - $179
Samsung Continuum - $199
Motorola Droid 2 Global - $199

Not unreasonable at all, given that they're all high-end devices. I suppose this should also erase any lingering doubt anyone may have had about the two color choices for the D2 Global - we'll definitely be presented with the standard dark blue, as well as a white model.

If you were hungering for more juicy details on the Motorola Droid Pro, today is your lucky day, as documents have just surfaced revealing the pre-sale and launch date of the device. While details are slim, the documents reveal that the pre-sale kicks off November 9th and the official launch date is November 18th. If you order between November 9th and November 17th, you’ll get your Droid Pro before the launch date - never a bad thing!

At this point we don't have a real number in regards to the price, but hopefully it will end up being near the unofficial standard of $200.

Motorola Droid 2 Global Details Popping Up All Over Verizon's Site, Still Not Official

The Motorola Droid 2 Global is really turning out to be the worst-kept secret since the Bay of Pigs invasion, isn't it? We've been hearing inklings of it since mid-September, including rumors that the CPU would be clocked at 1.2 GHz.

Now, Droid-Life's legion of tipsters have spotted two more official Verizon documents featuring the Droid 2 Global: a holiday ad featuring the D2G (above), and nothing other than a sheet listing the tech specs.

And quite a nicely-equipped phone it is. Think of it as a beefed up Droid 2, with an alternative color option:

1.2 GHz CPU
3.7" 854x480 screen
5 MP camera with 2 LED flash
8 GB ROM, 8 GB microSD included (16 GB total)
Dark Sapphire or Winter White

Seems a little weird to launch an upgraded product so soon after launching the original, but hey - I suppose they're trying to get a leg up on their competition.
