Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 Developer Edition Now Available For $650

Locked bootloaders can be a real drag. While it's possible to circumvent these security measures on the GS4, it can be a messy process. Maybe a developer edition device is the way to go? Well, Verizon customers can finally buy the developer edition Galaxy S4 from Samsung for the paltry sum of $649. The AT&T developer edition is still missing in action.

This device first appeared on the Samsung site along side the AT&T model in May.

[This Is A Thing] Wirefly Now Selling Liquipel-Treated Waterproof Verizon Galaxy S III, $89.99 On Contract

I'm sure we all know the frustration of trying to take a bath with a smartphone only to have it stop working. Outrageous! Surely there must be some sort of technological solution to this conundrum? Liquipel is a possibility, but you usually have to send in your device to have it sealed up. Now you can grab a pre-treated Galaxy S III for Verizon at a subsidized price from Wirefly. Kind of neat, right?

Verizon Galaxy S III Update VRBMF1 Announced, Brings Multiple Improvements And Probably Won't Break LTE This Time

Verizon pushed out an update at the end of May to add a number of enhancements to the Galaxy S III. However, after users flooded the Verizon forums with reports of broken LTE, Big Red pulled the update. A slightly tweaked version is about to roll out with a few more features, and presumably no LTE issues.

The update listing doesn't make mention of the data fix, but that's understandable. It should be noted that this update's changelog is a bit different than the last one.

That DROID Landing Twitter Account Probably Isn't Teasing A New Phone, It's Just A Verizon-Branded AR Game

There's a lot of speculation floating around right now about the "reactivation" of the DROID Landing Twitter account, which is typically used by Verizon to tease new DROID phones. Unfortunately, we're going to have to deflate some of that speculation. Here are the tweets from the account this afternoon:

These messages seem basically without meaning taken by themselves, but there's more here than meets the eye.

Verizon Announces Update For The Samsung Galaxy Stellar (Version JZO54K.1200VRBME1)

The Galaxy S4 is a great device, but it's not for everyone. Some people, frankly, don't need that much phone. The Stellar is one of more affordable devices under the Galaxy brand, and users on Verizon's network will soon see another update roll out to their devices.

Stellar

The Galaxy Stellar has already made the jump up to Jelly Bean, so this update is relatively mundane by comparison. Still, Verizon advertises a host of other niceties, such as improved hotspot connectivity and better speaker phone audio.

[Deal Alert] Amazon Drops Verizon's Droid DNA To A Penny For New Contracts And Upgrades

If Verizon's HTC One kind-of announcement just didn't do it for you because you can't stay away from the red-and-black-themed Droid line, Amazon has HTC's next best offering on the table for a solitary penny. Of course we're talking about the Droid DNA, the undeniable king of Big Red's Droid lineup for the time being.

Despite the fact that the DNA was released back in November of last year, its spec sheet is still a fairly impressive one:

  • 5-inch Super LCD3 at 1920x1080 (440 PPI)
  • Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB built-in storage
  • 8MP rear shooter, 2.1MP front camera
  • 2020mAh battery
  • Android 4.1.1 with Sense 4+

Sure, it doesn't have BOOMSOUND, Zoes, Ultrapixels, or other buzzwords – but c'mon, it's got its own now-famous red eye and a DROID logo, and it's only a penny.

[Deal Alert] Amazon Wireless Drops Verizon's Galaxy S 4 To $119 For New Contracts

A few days ago, Dell dropped the price of both Sprint's and Verizon's variants of the Galaxy S 4 to $119 and $129 respectively. Not to be outdone, Amazon Wireless has now undercut Big D by $10, and is offering Verizon's GS4 for $119 for new contracts ($170 for upgrades). That's a pretty solid deal if you don't want to buy from Dell, though I'd be remiss not to mention the $50 eGift card that Dell is throwing in if you do decide to buy through them.

[New App] Verizon FiOS Mobile Allows Home (And Only Home) Video Streaming, Confuses The Hell Out Of Customers

Verizon, please sit down. We've all come here to talk to you because we care about you. Actually, most of us don't, but we recognize that you've got a problem. You have too many apps. No, don't try to deny it. You've got 11 apps spread across two publishers, and today you've added another one, with a brand new publisher, that duplicates at least some of the functionality of two previous ones.

[Deal Alert] Verizon's And Sprint's Galaxy S4 $129/119 Respectively For New Contracts From Dell, Also Includes A $50 Dell eGift card

So here's something we're not used to hearing: Dell's got some pretty good deals going for phones right now. Verizon's Galaxy S4 is only $129 for new customers ($160 for upgrades), Sprint's version is $119 for new customers, and both come with a $50 Dell eGift card.

The deals don't end there, either – all versions of the GS4 come with a $50 eGift card, even if they haven't knocked a bundle off the price.
