Verizon Announces The Spectrum 2 By LG For $99 After Mail-In-Rebate

About a week ago, we got a look at the LG Spectrum 2 and all of its innards thanks to Best Buy. Now, Verizon has made it official. It's not going to rock any socks off, but for $99 after mail-in-rebate and a new two-year contract, it's really not a bad piece of kit:

1GB RAM
16GB storage, microSD card slot
Global Ready
8MP rear shooter, 1.3MP front camera
Android 4.0

It's not winning any awards for most stylish, best all around, or... anything else, for that matter. But it is a solid mid-ranger that might fit the bill perfectly for anyone looking for a new device that packs a punch and won't break the bank.

Verizon's Motorola DROID RAZR HD And RAZR MAXX HD Now Support Isis Mobile Wallet

Earlier this week, Isis Mobile Wallet payment platform went live on three U.S. carriers - Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T. Verizon had only one device listed as supported at launch, with the DROID RAZR HD / MAXX HD compatibility set to arrive by the end of October. The Galaxy S III was also listed, but according to this list, it doesn't seem to be ready just yet.

Two days ago, Verizon released the first update v0.7.2 for the RAZR HD variants with only a mention of one new feature in the changelog: an "updated Google Security Patch." Today, Verizon amended the update document and added the mention of Isis Mobile Wallet, thus fulfilling its promise right on schedule.

Droid RAZR HD And MAXX HD Receiving A Minor OTA Update, Contains 'Google Security Patch'

If you were quick to grab the Droid RAZR HD or MAXX HD from Verizon Wireless within the past week, you should be getting your first OTA fairly soon. Verizon just updated its supports docs for the newest members of the Droid family, showing a very minor update.

Yep - that's it. The 6MB update only brings one little-bitty fix, and we're not really sure exactly what to does. Whatever it is, it's a big enough deal that Google and Verizon felt the need to push it out now instead of waiting to bundle it with a larger OTA, so you may want to go ahead and grab it.

Pre-Orders Go Live For AT&T, Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

We've seen a lot of news surrounding Samsung's Galaxy Note II in the past 24 hours, from T-Mobile's official launch all the way down to Lebron James' custom Note II cover. We've got one more piece of news before the day's done though – pre-orders for the Note II's AT&T and Verizon variants have just gone live.

Those looking to grab the AT&T-connected Note II will need to shell out an unsurprising $299.99 with 2-year activation, and can expect their devices to ship out on November 6th, just in time for the network's November 9th launch date. It's worth noting though that (at least for now) AT&T is only offering up the "Titanium Gray" Note II.

[Updated] Verizon, Why Did You Stick Your Crappy Logo On The Galaxy Note II's Home Button?

Back at the beginning of September, we got our first glimpse of the Note II on Verizon... and it had a branded home button. Initial thoughts after seeing this were unanimously along the lines of "eww" and "omg why." We all hoped it was some stupid thing they tried while the device was in testing.

It wasn't.

Samsung just released some press shots of the Verizon Note II variant, complete with the absurd home button branding. Dear God, why? It's atrocious.

As if throwing the logo on the front of the device wasn't enough, Big Red is so arrogant that it felt the need to stamp a huge "Verizon 4G LTE" logo on the back, too!

Leaked Verizon MAP List Shows The 'HTC Droid DNA' - Is This The DLX?

We've been hearing rumors of Verizon's massive 5" HTC phablet codenamed DLX for weeks now, but now we may have an idea of what the device's release name could be: the Droid DNA.

According to a leaked MAP (minimum advertised price) document that fell into the hands of Android Central, the DNA could hit Big Red's shelves around November 20th for the typical $200 price tag. Then again, it also has the Note II listed with today's date, yet we haven't heard anything about it from Verizon.

Still, this brings a couple of things to light: an HTC device named Droid DNA is coming to Verizon, and we'll likely see it sometime during the week of 11/20.

[Review] Motorola DROID RAZR HD: Far From Perfect, But I Love It Anyway

As we all know by now, Google purchased Motorola in August of 2011 for a whopping $12.1 billion. Nerds rejoiced, analysts balked, and the general public didn't really notice or care. But Motorola's newest wave of handsets - the excellent Razr M and the new Razr HD/ Razr Maxx HD - aren't the result of Google ownership. They were already in the pipeline, so they're products of the old Motorola.

I'm happy to report that the analysts' skepticism was unfounded. The Razr M hinted that Motorola was already on the right track before being acquired; the Razr HD confirms it. Although it has some silly software flaws, it's one of the most lovable devices I've used in ages.

Isis Mobile Payments Start Today In Salt Lake City And Austin - Here's The Full Breakdown

Isis launched its mobile payments platform in Salt Lake City, UT and Austin, TX today, in a limited, initial rollout that's probably best viewed as a tech test more than an NFC payments panacea. We've know for quite some time that these would be Isis' launch markets (after numerous delays), and we also had a basic idea of how the system would work: NFC. What wasn't so widely-known is the fact that Isis uses the SIM secure element method to store payment credentials.

This is in contrast to Google Wallet's method, where your virtual MasterCard (used as the medium through which your payments are processed) is stored in a secure element that is typically included as a part of the NFC chip.

Blurrycam Shots Leak Of Verizon HTC DLX, Sporting 5" 1080p Display, Quad-Core CPU, And 2GB Of RAM

Last week, HTC announced the J Butterfly, a 5" phone with a monster 1080p display (that's 440ppi) mated to a quad-core CPU and 2 GB of RAM. The announcement made it pretty clear that the J Butterfly wasn't coming to the US, but similar devices certainly weren't out of the question.

Now, we're seeing blurrycam photos of what's claimed to be Verizon's variant, dubbed the DLX ("Deluxe"). Sure enough, it's apparently packing similar specs: the same 5" 1080p display, a quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 8MP rear shooter and 2MP front. Otherwise, the source of the shots reports a 2,500 mAh battery, centered power button on the top, and capacitive touch buttons.

Play Store Carrier Billing For Verizon Rolling Out "Over The Coming Weeks"

Google has just confirmed on the official Play Store Twitter account that carrier billing for Verizon customers will be making its way to handsets in the coming weeks.

Verizon joins Sprint, AT&T (on some devices only), and T-Mobile, all of which have carrier billing, rounding out the US's big four. You can see the complete list of compatible carriers here (Verizon does not yet appear there).

Carrier billing allows you to purchase not only apps and games, but books, movies, and music from the Play Store.
