Now that we've seen Samsung's Galaxy Note II go up for grabs at T-Mo, Sprint, and US Cellular, it's time we began expecting to see Samsung drop kernel source code for the carriers' respective variants. That's just what Sammy has done, recently releasing the open source kernel files for SGH-T889, SCH-R950_USC, SPH-L900_SPR, and a bonus device – AT&T's Galaxy Rugby Pro, lovingly called SGH-I547_ATT.

U.S. Cellular customers, if you've been chomping at the bit to get your hands on the latest behemoth phone from Samsung, today's your day. The Note II is now available directly from the regional carrier's website, as well as in stores.

Of course, to grab the latest flagship from the Korean manufacturer, it's going to cost you. Three-hundred dollars worth of cost you, to be exact. You'll also have to commit to being exclusive with the provider for the next two years, but you probably already knew that.

If you're a US Cellular customer and also interested in the Galaxy Note II, good news: the Note II will be available on the southern regional carrier starting Friday, October 26th, in stores and online. The price remains the same as it has since the pre-order, at $299 on a new 2-year agreement. Today is also the last day you can pre-order the Note II on USC, and those orders will begin shipping tomorrow.

Shockwave TiltedAngle

It's easy to get caught up with the top-of-the-line Android devices, but there is also a thriving market for budget handsets. The Alcatel One Touch Shockwave is such a device, but it's not without appeal. The Shockwave, as its name suggests, is built to withstand being knocked around a bit.

The Shockwave has a shock-resistant casing, Dragontrail tempered glass, and water-resistant seals. It's a smaller device with a 3.5-inch screen and rounded corners.

If you have a Galaxy S III on US Cellular, we're here to give you some good news: you're getting Google Wallet. And you can probably actually get it today if you download the update manually from Samsung. First, though, let's take a look at this leaked image showing the changes the update brings:

Basically, a lot of updates to stock apps, and various bug fixes you can see detailed in the image above.

Well, that was fast. The Note II was just announced for the five biggest US carriers this morning - Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular - and the latter already has its pre-order page ready to go.

As you can see, $300 will get you 16GB of storage, along with a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 2GB RAM, an 8MP rear shooter, 1.9MP front camera, NFC, LTE connectivity, S Pen, and Android 4.1 underneath that beautiful 5.5" display.

We knew it was happening, but now things are official. The Samsung Galaxy Note II is coming to Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. This is going to be a big deal, and not just because this phone is physically massive.

The centerpiece of the Note II is the 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD panel at 1280x720. This screen uses Wacom inductive technology so you can make use of a pressure-sensitive S Pen, which docks neatly in the body of the phone when you're not using it.

Now here's a novel idea - a carrier actually helping you save money on your bill. That's exactly what US Cellular is providing with a new app that just landed in the Play Store.

Basically, the app sits idly in the background, watching for "partner" Wi-Fi hotspots. Once it locates one, it automatically connects, which ultimately saves you, the customer, money on your bill (or at least conserves some data). Pretty rad, no?

We've got another budget smartphone on the way for you, folks. US Cellular is now picking up the LG Splendor, a mid-range Android phone with a 4.3" display, 5 megapixel camera, and a 1GHz processor, yet 2GB of RAM, which is rather insane for a phone this far from the mainstream. We're also told the phone will come with a 4GB memory card included. The storage is expandable, but it sounds like there is no significant embedded storage without the included card.

Since the debut of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean back at I/O, everyone has been clamoring for CyanogenMod 10. With the addition of each new device to the list of those with official nightly support, hopeful users of flagship handsets like the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy SIII wondered when their day would come. While most variants of the SIII have already received nightlies, the US Cellular variant (d2usc) joined that list last night, along with a few other devices.
