PSA: AT&T And US Cellular Galaxy S 4 Pre-Orders Start Today At $199 (With Two-Year Agreement) For 16GB

The day AT&T and US Cellular customers have been waiting on for some weeks is here: it's time to pre-order Samsung's Next Big Thing. For a shiny new two-hundred dollar bill, you can secure the 16GB Galaxy S4 in either white frost or black mist on either carrier. And if you're on US Cellular, you get an added bonus: the company is throwing in a free S View flip cover to seal the deal.

There is, however, one thing missing on the AT&T side of things: the 32GB version. The company confirmed that the 32GB variant would land at $250, but it seems to be MIA here on pre-order day.

U.S. Cellular Starts The Android 4.1.2 Rollout For The Samsung Galaxy Axiom

Samsung has slowly been updating the majority of its ICS-running Galaxy devices to Jelly Bean (4.1.2) over the last several weeks, and U.S Cellular's Galaxy Axiom is the next in line. Announced just this morning, the update should be available directly from U.S. Cellular via OTA, as well as through Samsung's Kies Software.

This bump in Android version should be a nice one for Axiom owners, as it brings the much discussed Google Now, along with expandable notifications, and several noticeable performance enhancements over Ice Cream Sandwich. If you're the tinkerin' type, Samsung has also released the kernel source code for your tweaking needs.

Carriers across the country are gearing up for the next big thing to hit shelves, with T-Mobile offering the handset from May 1 and AT&T accepting pre-orders beginning on April 16th. As it turns out, U.S. Cellular will also begin taking pre-order on the 16th, though the regional carrier hasn't yet announced how much the device will cost. When I reached out for more info, I was told that "pricing will be available on 4/16."

So, mark you calendars U.S. Cellular customers – you're only a little over two weeks away from throwing your money down and committing to the Galaxy S 4 as your new smartphone.

US Cellular Galaxy S III And Note II Being Updated To Software Build MB1

US Cellular's variants of the Galaxy S III and Note II are slated to receive OTA updates to the MB1 build, which includes a bump to Android version 4.1.2 for the GS IIII (the previous Note II update here, previous GS III update here).

The Galaxy S III's release notes indicate only two changes: the aforementioned increase in OS version, and a fix for audio when playing streaming media (this may fix a long-reported issue with Netflix playback on the device).

US Cellular Adds The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 To Its LTE Lineup For $499.99

Its smaller 8-inch cousin is getting all the attention at Mobile World Congress (for better or worse), but the plus-sized Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 still has a few fans. At least one of them works at regional carrier US Cellular, because the device is now their second 4G LTE tablet, behind the original Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Galaxy Note 10.1 is available now from US Cellular's website and retail stores for $499.99; it requires a 2GB data plan, but not a long-term contract.

The Note 10.1 comes with a Jelly Bean 4.1 upgrade already on board, not to mention the 1.4Ghz Exynos quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM that it started with.

U.S. Cellular Announces New LTE Markets For 2013, Should Cover 87 Percent Of Customers By Year's End

In the (seemingly) never-ending race to offer LTE, U.S. Cellular has just announced a fairly major expansion to its 4G LTE network that will take place over the course of 2013. By the time the end of the year rolls around, the company expects to offer LTE to 87 percent of its customers, which is a 26 percent increase over its current network.

At the current time, the company is being a little vague about exactly which cities are going to get LTE coverage, citing only that "select cities in California, Kansas and Nebraska" will gain the ultra-fast connection, with specific mention of "Lincoln, Neb., Omaha, Neb., Manhattan, Kan., Eureka, Calif.

Update: We've heard from US Cellular that the rollout will begin on February 12th - apparently someone jumped the gun on the update page.

After promising to do so in Q1 2013 back in December, Motorola has officially begun rolling out Android 4.1.2 to the Electrify M on US Cellular. The Electrify M is basically a de-Verizoned RAZR M, so it makes sense that the Electrify's update follows after its DROID kin's.

You can find a link to the standard Motorola Jelly Bean upgrade overview on US Cellular's website. The build number is 9.8.2Q-50_SLS-7. The OTA update will probably be rolling out in stages, so keep hitting that 'System Updates' button over the next week or two.

Switch To A U.S. Cellular Family Plan And Get A $300 Mastercard Debit Card

The title basically says it all: if you're thinking of switching to U.S. Cellular as your family's mobile provider, the company will give you a $300 Mastercard debit card. All you have to do is sign a new two-year agreement with the regional carrier for two or more lines of service, one of which must be a smartphone. Past that, it's a done deal. You get new phones and service, they give you $300.

Here's the best part: there's no minimum purchase price on the phones, and the deal is good on any data plan of $20 or higher. Naturally, the account must remain in good standing to receive the debit card.

US Cellular Updates Galaxy Note II To R950VXALL1, Adds Multi-Window [Full Changelog]

US Cellular is issuing an update to their variant of Samsung's Galaxy Note II, bringing the baseband version up to R950VXALL1. The headline feature with this update, as may be expected, is multi-window support. That's not all the R950VXALL1 package brings, though.

The update, besides evidently bringing the device up to Android "4.1.4" Jelly Bean (did you mean to say "4.1.2" there, USC?), brings an armload of bug fixes, from a "Burst Mode" camera fix to occasional toggling between 3G and 1X, to minor UI changes including the replacement of the notification shade's "sync" button with a multi-window shortcut and a makeover for the phone's Sound icon, switching from gray to green.

Update: Right on time, it looks like US Cellular's 4.1.1 update for the Galaxy SIII is available to users, and their software page has been updated to reflect the SIII's new firmware (which, for those curious, carries base band version R53OUVXALK5).

Samsung Updates also has the SIII's latest firmware available for download here. For instructions on updating your SIII, just hit the US Cellular link at the bottom of this post.
