mytouch 4g slide

Although not the best-kept secret over at T-Mobile, the latest entry in their myTouch series is still very impressive. Specs-wise, it is able to easily compete with the recently-released Sensation, but still has a few interesting software tricks up its sleeves:

  • 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • 3.7" SLCD 800 x 480 display
  • Android 2.3
  • Sense 3.0
  • 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash
  • 1080p video capture
  • Full QWERTY keyboard
  • HSPA+ connectivity

While the 8 megapixel camera isn't unheard of among high-end smartphones, T-Mobile wants you to know that the 4G Slide is still easily capable of replacing your camera because the software features included.

When the new Google Talk with voice and video calling was launched, those of you on T-Mobile who wanted to place calls on 3G quickly found out that it wasn't at all possible. Rather than connecting you to your dog for an afternoon chat, the application stubbornly insisted on only operating through a Wi-Fi connection. At Google I/O 2011, I was able to dig up some more technical details surrounding this limitation, even further upsetting hopeful customers.

Update: Don't install this app until it gets an update - it will turn your GPS on every 10 seconds to update your location info, and won't stop unless you Force Stop it from the Manage Applications screen. It was at 68% on my phone's battery usage menu after 6 hours of doing little with my phone aside from checking e-mail sporadically. Yuck.

Have you ever wanted an app that aggregates your favorite daily deal and special offer services into a single, location-based list?

Love it or hate it, Angry Birds is a massively popular game. Even if it may be a bit played out and past its prime, that doesn't make this any less entertaining: T-Mobile created a real-world, life-size Angry Birds Live game in Barcelona, controllable via an Android device. The results are cooler than you'd expect, and the short (1:40) video is worth a watch.

Certainly puts a smile on your face, doesn't it?

As promised, T-Mobile has just announced its newest Android handsets: the Samsung Exhibit 4G and the Samsung Gravity SMART.

The two new Samsung devices will bolster T-Mobile's Android coffers by providing an affordable option for penny-pinching smartphone lovers.

The Samsung Exhibit 4G is the higher-end of the two devices, running Android 2.3 and featuring a speedy 1GHz processor, a 3 MP rear camera with flash and a camcorder, as well as a front-facing camera with video chat pre-installed and, of course, HSPA+ ("4G") connectivity.

HTC Sensation

Update: It has been confirmed by T-Mobile that the Sensation 4G will cost $199.99 on a two-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate. Still no word on off-contract pricing, however.

It doesn't come as much of a surprise, but T-Mobile has finally announced the release date of the long-awaited Sensation 4G - by June 15 at T-Mobile retail stores, and as early as June 12 at select Wal-Mart locations. Unfortunately, T-Mobile didn't provide anything in the way of pricing, but we'll certainly be hearing about that in the coming days.

Update Memorial Day: Well, Amazon prices didn't drop today. Our Amazon rep hasn't gotten back to us to confirm, but @AmazonWireless has tweeted that the "all 4G phones free" sale wasn't real, so I'm writing off the Amazon part of this sale as a hoax. :(

Deals - we got 'em. While Amazon is having their own Memorial Day Android handset sale over at Amazon Wireless, LetsTalk.com wasn't about to be outdone.

Earlier this month, we got a hold of a Gingerbread leak for the LG G2x, and all seemed pretty official with that build, so we expected to see an official announcement fairly soon after. It's been a few weeks now, and while nothing concrete has surfaced from T-Mo, we now have a little more info on what's gong down:

Yeah... summer is pretty vague. Is that the beginning of summer?

Earlier this month we told you that T-Mobile was working to revamp a couple of its pre-paid plans to include unlimited data, and that is finally official as of today.

(Note from David: Except, that data isn't really, truly unlimited. I mean, if you count 2G EDGE [which is what you get when you exceed your cap] as "data," then yes - you can have all the EDGE you can eat.

One awesome T-Mobile leak isn't good enough for you? Well then, you'll be interested to hear that the folks at This is my next have a second (albeit related) leak for Magenta customers - a roadmap detailing their device releases from now until September of 2011, as well as some glimpses of what we can expect beyond that. Without further ado, let's introduce the devices:

  • HTC Sensation 4G, Samsung Exhibit 4G, and Samsung GT2: Admittedly, these won't come as much of a surprise, as their release has already been confirmed.
