HTC Flyer Will Come To The US On T-Mobile

Pocketnow dropped some images of the HTC Flyer in T-Mobile regalia earlier today, apparently dismissing rumors that the unbranded version of the Flyer would not be headed to American shores. In particular, the image below of a rebranded T-Mobile USA YouTube page would seem to all but confirm that HTC's stylus-sporting tablet will be making a stateside-debut.

HTC's Flyer tablet runs Android 2.3 (with a planned upgrade to Honeycomb), and utilizes a single-core, 1.5GHz processor. The 7" tablet's pricing has to be confirmed, but speculation on a Wi-Fi only version (read: not this T-Mobile edition) hovered around $500-600. This device will then probably be getting contract pricing, but it's anyone's guess as to how much a subsidy T-Mobile is planning.

Wondering if you should be considering that T-Mobile 4G phone purchase now that the merger plan has come to light? Read on.

With the news of the AT&T / T-Mobile merger spreading like wildfire, there have been rumblings about the network compatibility implications of the deal. More accurately, how the merger will affect consumers' use of 4G handsets on their respective carriers.

Make no mistake - it has been confirmed that AT&T will slowly disassemble T-Mobile's 4G HSPA+ network over time, converting those HSPA+ bands (the "AWS" spectrum) into LTE frequencies. Consumers without at least a Wikipedia-level of 4G knowledge will likely ask why this is necessary if both carriers already use HSPA+ "4G."

They may know that it's generally not possible to use a T-Mobile phone to get 3G while on AT&T, and vice versa.

T-Mobile Reveals Pricing Of The G-Slate 3D Tablet And The Sidekick 4G

The new G2x dual-core phone with stock Google experience is not the only device getting some attention today in a slew of T-Mobile press releases - both the G-Slate 3D tablet made by LG and the Sidekick 4G made by Samsung finally got pricing information.

First up, the 8.9" G-Slate tablet running Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" will cost $529.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate (ugh). Don't get too excited though - this price is for a 2-year contract, in addition to a voice line (hmm? Will it be making phone calls?) and EasyPay enrollment. Compared to the XOOM's contract price of $599.99 for a similar setup, adding 3D cameras, and subtracting an inch off the display's diagonal, we get a relatively decent deal, if you're interested in tying yourself down to a carrier for such a long time.

T-Mobile's First Dual-Core Phone, The G2x Made By LG, Now Official Ahead Of CTIA - Coming This Spring

While AT&T and Verizon both announced dual-core devices at CES (Atrix 4G and Droid Bionic, respectively), T-Mobile and Sprint have been quiet about their offerings. It was only through accidental leaks that we found out about the LG Optimus 2X, rebranded as T-Mobile G2x, coming to T-Mobile and the EVO 3D coming to Sprint.

Now, after being spotted at CTIA, the G2x really had nowhere else to hide, so T-Mobile decided to finally officially unveil it to the public. As expected, the G2x sports a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor with a 4" capacitive display, an 8GB ROM, an 8MP rear camera with 1080P video recording, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, DLNA capabilities, and the stock version of Android 2.2 (!).

While most experts seem to agree that the deal will most likely get FCC and Department of Justice approval, Sprint (not surprisingly) doesn't have a lot of nice things to say about the buyout. The rumors had previously been swirling that Sprint would be the one gobbling up T-Mobile and, whether those talks actually happened or not, that deal most definitely won't be happening now.

In a move that comes way out of left field, AT&T and T-Mobile officially announced today that the former will be buying the latter for $39 billion. This is contrary to what we've been hearing around the 'net that Sprint was the one likely to be making the purchase, but in some ways, a merger with AT&T does make more sense.

For starters, AT&T and T-Mobile both use GSM, while Sprint relies on CDMA. Taking things a step further, AT&T and T-Mobile are both building out HSPA+ for their "4G" network now and have LTE spectrum in their arsenal, while Sprint uses WiMAX (although rumor has it they're making a switch to LTE).

Remember that onslaught of dual-core smartphones and Honeycomb-running tablets we have been anticipating for a while now? It has already begun - and it is only going to keep on growing. The latest rumored release is for the LG G-Slate and G2X, which, according to TmoNews, are both set to launch at T-Mobile stores on April 20.

The dual-core G-Slate (also known as Optimus Pad) will be, along with the upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1, the first Honeycomb-running rivals to give the Motorola XOOM a run for its money. LG's 8.9" tab will be the first to incorporate 3D technology, and is rumored to be priced at $699 (let's just hope that's off-contract).

New Images Surface Of The Long-Awaited HTC Pyramid

If learning that the Thunderbolt will finally be dropping on March 17 just wasn't enough for you HTC fans, some more exciting news is making its way around the web today. Rumors of a dual-core HTC device, codenamed the Pyramid, have been around since the beginning of February. Now, thanks to XDA.cn, we have some images to go with the rumors.

The site does mention some of the specs on this bad boy, like a 4.3" 540 x 960 qHD display, a 1.2GHz processor, 768MB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front, but it seems like some other things have gotten lost in translation.

The reincarnation of the Sidekick brand didn't quite come as a complete surprise after T-Mobile teased its return back in January, followed by a nice photo leak that showed the latest thumb-killer, this time made by Samsung, in its full glory. However, it's always nice to get official confirmations and specs from the carrier itself, and that's exactly what T-Mobile is gracing us with today.

The new Sidekick comes with a 3.5" touchscreen display, a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor, HSPA+21 4G capabilities, a front-facing VGA camera, and, of course, a signature "pop-tilt" 5-row QWERTY keyboard.

Which Carrier's Network Is Really The Fastest? One Study Attempts To Answer

They say "talk is cheap" - and these days it seems like every major US wireless carrier is claiming to have the fastest 4G (of course 4G is a highly debatable marketing term that describes three vastly different networks, but that's fodder for another post altogether). It's relatively easy to tune all of the marketing hype out but, when presented with some solid numbers, it gets easier to pay attention. PC World has tried to give us some raw data to work with in their profiling of the data speeds on the four major providers.

There are, however, a couple of very important things to keep in mind before viewing these results:
