So yesterday, the FCC released a report detailing its feelings on the AT&T/T-Mobile. The FCC basically called it like it is and said the merger will reduce competition, raise prices, cost jobs, and AT&T will have to build out its network with or without T-Mobile.

Well, AT&T got wind of that report, and they are not happy. Today they responded with all the composure of a rejected middle schooler:

We expected that the AT&T-T-Mobile transaction would receive careful, considered, and fair analysis.   Unfortunately, the preliminary FCC Staff Analysis offers none of that.  The document is so obviously one-sided that any fair-minded person reading it is left with the clear impression that it is an advocacy piece, and not a considered analysis.

Samsung Galaxy S II_white_front

Who wants a white Galaxy S II? Good news! Your dream is going to become a reality soon enough - if you're on T-Mobile that is. That's right, an all white version of the GSII will be landing in T-Mo stores and online sometimes before the holidays. Vague, I know, but that's all the info we have right now as far as availability is concerned.

The white version will most likely share the same specs as the current, black version:

  • 4.52-inch 480x800 Super AMOLDED Plus display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • 8MP rear shooter, 2MP front
  • Android 2.3.x with Touchwiz

Anyone interested in picking one of these up when it comes out?

Update: The Music section of the Market is now live! (Link). Access to Music in the Android Market (on-device) will be rolling out over the next few days on the server side (there is no new version of the Market to get the Music section). A new version of the Music app is out as well, check it out here.

Update 2: Here's the full video of the Google Music event held in Los Angeles today (if the embedded timecode doesn't work, skip to 29m30s for the start of the event):

T-Mobile-Girl

Hot on the heels of Verizon's announcement of new LTE markets, T-Mobile just sent out a PR  detailing some network expansion of its own. Effective today, T-Mo has doubled the speed of its HSPA+ 4G network in eleven markets:

  • Bend, Medford, and Corvallis, OR
  • Benton Harbor, MI
  • Bloomington, Champaign-Urbana and Springfield, IL
  • Columbus, GA
  • Santa Barbara, CA
  • State College, PA
  • Yuba City, CA

On top of the that expansion, it will also be turning on HSPA+ 21 in nine additional markets, including:

  • Corvallis, OR
  • Decatur and Peoria, IL
  • Evansville, IN
  • Holland and Kalamazoo, MI
  • Santa Barbara CA
  • State College, PA
  • Yuba City, CA

If you're in one of the aforementioned areas, grab your phone and run a speed test - you may just be walking in a 4G wonderland.

Galaxy S 4G owners, the wait is finally over - Gingerbread is officially available for your device. Samsung threw a couple more fixes into the mix as well, like a Google security patch (vague, I know), camera enhancements, and Wi-Fi enhancements.

Unfortunately, this one won't be coming to your device over-the-air, so you'll have to install Kies Mini and grab the USB cable in order to pull it.

The entire process seems to be pretty cut-and-dried, so it should go off without a hitch.

Update: Public Service Announcement: I'm an idiot. My sincere apologies to everyone. This post was totally wrong. I misread the PR and really had no idea an "Unlimited Value Plan" was special or cheaper.

So let's try this again.

T-Mobile is having a sale! "Magenta Saturday" is one day only, this Saturday, November 19th. You will save money, but it's complicated. Pay attention.

T-Mobile has two totally different sets of plans.

It seems that invitees to Google's big not-yet-officially-about-Google-Music-event have just received a second invitation - to the after party. Oh, and Maroon 5, Busta Rhymes, Dirty South, R3hab, and Drake will all be in attendance - and so will we.  We'll be watching the earlier event via livestream along with most everyone else (space is apparently very limited), but Android Police will present for the post-event-event Wednesday night, below. We're excited.
