Editorial: Why The Importance Of The Unified Galaxy S III Launch In The US Cannot Be Overstated

Here in the United States, we've all been witness to an historic "second" this week (as opposed to a first) in the unified launch of the Galaxy S III, untainted by carrier modification, on all four of the major US wireless providers (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile).

Now, you'll probably say "but David, the Galaxy S III is the first smartphone to launch as the same model on all four major carriers!" and you'd be right. That's important, no doubt about it. But really, the iPhone has had two, and now three, of the four major carriers, and the addition of T-Mobile isn't exactly a massive achievement - heck, they can't even come to an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone at all.

T-Mobile's Galaxy S III Will Be Available Beginning On June 21st

We already know that the Galaxy S III is coming to five major carriers in the U.S., and T-Mobile just dropped all of its plans into the public lap. Here's the skinny.

Aesthetically, this device not only looks identical to the international version, but also like what we've seen from the other U.S carriers thus far. Internally, T-Mo's GSIII will also match the other U.S. variants of the device: 4.8" 720p Super AMOLED HD display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4, 2GB of RAM (!!), and Android 4.0.

While T-Mobile has yet to release pricing information, we know that it will carry both the Metallic Blue and Ceramic White variants in both 16GB and 32GB models, all of which will be available beginning on June 21st.

It's Official – Samsung Galaxy SIII Headed To Five Carriers In The US Beginning This Month

Well folks, it's official. In a press release sent out just moments ago, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy SIII, easily one of the most anticipated smartphones this year, will be available on five major carriers in the US beginning this month.

The carriers, which are expected to make individual announcements in the "coming weeks," include AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and US Cellular. And yes, the SIII's design will be consistent across all carriers. Feast your eyes on some official (non-carrier specific) press images below:

This Might be The T-Mobile Galaxy S III, But We're Not Convinced

The internet is positively buzzing with news of a supposed leak of the T-Mobile Galaxy S III in both white and the still elusive pebble blue variety. Many sites seem convinced these are the real deal, and as much as I'd like to believe that, there are some issues that leave me feeling skeptical.

For all the past Samsung Galaxy phones, the US variants have moved to the more common row of four capacitive buttons. These leaked images show the devices with the European-style arrangement of capacitive menu and back buttons, along with a physical home button. Even the shape of the device is totally unchanged.

T-Mobile Galaxy S II Will Be Getting Ice Cream Sandwich Update On June 11

T-Mobile just announced via Twitter that its iteration of the Galaxy S II will be getting the Android 4.0 bump come June 11th.

No update doc is yet available on T-Mobile's website illustrating the changes, but one should be coming sooner rather than later. The update will take place via Kies.

[Update: Delayed] T-Mobile HTC One S Receiving Minor OTA Update On June 4 To Version 1.84.531.2

Update: The OTA update's rollout has been pushed back to June 4.

Owners of the T-Mobile version of HTC's One S (check out our review) can expect a minor (about 24MB) over the air update tomorrow, May 31st June 4th, bringing some small changes and bug fixes to the device. The change log, below:

Samsung Exhibit II 4G Poised To Receive An OTA Update To Build T679UVLE1 Beginning On May 30th, Brings Android 2.3.6

Details about a new OTA update set to roll out to the Samsung Exhibit II 4G just hit T-Mobile Support docs. The update, which is build T679UVLE1 for those who like to keep track of that sort of thing, is more or less a simple incremental Gingerbread update with a few fixes and enhancements sprinkled on top:

[Rumor] Possible Release Dates Leaked For T-Mobile Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note, And Huawei myTouch Phones

After a relatively dreary news day, TmoNews breathed life into the Android world with an exciting leak many of us have been anticipating for quite some time: the release date of the T-Mobile Galaxy S III.

T-Mobile's editions of the device - which are among the few potential challengers to HTC's superb One X - will begin sale on (drum roll please) June 20th. There'll reportedly be two colors - metallic blue and ceramic white - as well as two storage capacities: 16GB and 32GB. However, if it's the ceramic white version you're after, you won't be able to grab it until July 11th; and even then, it appears it'll only be available in the 16GB capacity.

[Updated] Incremental Gingerbread Update (Build T989UVLDE) Now Rolling Out To The Samsung Galaxy S II On T-Mobile

T-Mobile just updated its support page for the Samsung Galaxy S II with details of an OTA update that should be rolling out right now. Before you get your hopes up, though, there's some bad news: it's not ICS. It's just an incremental Gingerbread update that brings a handful of enhancements and improvements:

Orders For T-Mobile's HTC Amaze 4G Delayed, Possibly Due to Apple Patent Dispute

In a somewhat unexpected turn of events, it seems that at least one customer ordering an HTC Amaze 4G from T-Mobile.com has been alerted that shipments of the device have been delayed "due to an unforeseen issue with receiving the product from the manufacturer." It looks like T-Mobile is sending out emails to customers informing them that  they have no "estimate as to when the product will be available," and suggesting that customers explore other options in the meantime.

Of course, with the recent shipment halt of AT&T's One X and Sprint's Evo 4G LTE, one is tempted to speculate that this delay may be due to HTC's current patent spat with Apple, but no one (outside T-Mobile or HTC) knows if that's the case just yet.
