The phone is up for pre-order on all of the UK's major networks - EE, Three UK, Vodafone, O2, Orange, and T-Mobile - as well as Carphone Warehouse, Phones4u, and Amazon. Don't know which network to go with? Let's break it down for you...

Sony's waterproof and dustproof flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z, is available to pre-order in the UK today from Three, although you'll have to wait until it's released on February 28th to get your hands on it yourself.

We first saw the 5-inch, 1080p phone last month at CES, and found ourselves impressed by its minimalist, elegant design. Water resistance comes at a price though, so you can expect to pay at least £34 a month if you want to take the phone home on a contract.

Three is offering two tariffs for the Xperia Z with unlimited data: the £34 Ultimate Internet 500 plan, which gives you 500 minutes and 5000 texts, and the £36 One Plan, which gives you 2000 minutes and the same amount of texts.

Done With This Post?
It looks like mobile device users in the UK can expect 4G services to begin rolling out a bit sooner than previously expected – six months sooner, to be specific.

The Wallstreet Journal reported Tuesday that the UK government has struck a deal with the UK's four largest mobile operators which will enable the auction of 4G mobile spectrum to begin at the end of 2012, with bidding beginning in early 2013.

The deal, which comes after rumblings that Vodafone and O2 were considering legal action against Everything Everywhere (EE) to stop it launching its own 4G service, was closed on by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Done With This Post? However, Samsung obviously knew what it was doing, as the device has gone on to sell really well. Fast forward a few months, and it's time for round 2: the Galaxy Note II comes with a bigger screen, a more comfortable aspect ratio, and it's available from today on Three.

The cheapest monthly plan for the phone is £34 for the 'Ultimate Internet 500.' That gives you truly unlimited data, 5000 text messages, and 500 minutes every month. If you want more minutes, you can choose to opt for the One Plan instead, which will put you back £36 a month and bump you up to 2000 any network minutes and 5000 same network minutes.

Done With This Post?

There are many cheap Android phones on the market today. Most of these devices will have a single core processor clocked at around 1GHz, and there won't be an awful lot of RAM to speak of either. This remains true of the HTC One V, but the latest budget phone to come out of the Taiwanese company has one key difference: it's running the latest version of Android.

That's right, you can finally own a budget device that doesn't ship with a version of Android that was released 2 years ago! Before you start celebrating too soon, though, you may want to take a look at some of the pros and cons that come with this phone and decide whether you want to take it on a 2-year contractual spin.

Done With This Post?
The first plan, Essential, starts at £15 and provides customers with a choice of 100, 300 or 500 minutes per month as well as a 250MB data allowance. The idea behind this tariff is to stop bill shock, as your data will be cut off automatically when you reach your monthly data quota. If you'd like to purchase more data, you can choose to pay an additional £2 for a further 250MB or pay £5 extra for all-you-can-eat data for the rest of the month, which doesn't have any fair usage policies applied to it.

Done With This Post? According to a press release from Three UK this morning, it should arrive on your doorstep still tasting nice and fresh in the shape of Samsung's newly announced Galaxy Nexus.

Although no specific dates have been given by the network, it's certainly encouraging to see an announcement so shortly after the phone's unveiling in Hong Kong.

During the unveiling, Samsung said that the phone will hit the market "in November" and see a worldwide distribution, so there is a good chance that the phone could come to the UK as soon as next month.

Done With This Post?

HTC has virtually every corner of the Android phone market covered, with unlocked phones ranging from under $300 all the way up to $700. Whether you're looking for a smartphone on a budget, or you just want as much power as you can have in one hand, you'll generally be covered.

Today, HTC has announced the Explorer, which sits firmly on the budget end of the smartphone spectrum. You won't find many bells and whistles on this phone, which will have a 3.2-inch display with a resolution of just 480 x 320, and a 3MP camera around the back.

Under the hood, you'll find a 600MHz processor which, on the surface, seems somewhat insufficient, as the phone will be running Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5.

Done With This Post?
