[Deal Alert] Amazon Drops The DROID Ultra Price To Only $99.99 For New Accounts, A 50% Discount

In our review of the Motorola DROID Ultra, we labeled it a phone in search of an audience. Still, if you like the Moto X but prefer capacitive navigation buttons, or you like the larger display that the DROID Ultra offers, then maybe this phone is for you. If this is the case, listen up. Amazon has dropped the price of the handset down to $99.99 with a new two-year contract, a full $100 off the normal price, and they're offering it in black and red.

Leaked Screenshot Indicates That Republic Wireless Will Sell The Moto X For $299 Off Contract

Ever since Republic Wireless started its unconventional carrier experiment, there's been one common cry of lament among those who want to use it: "where are the good phones?" Republic's hybrid 3G-WiFi system requires some customized hardware, which means that new phones are few and far between for the unlimited, cheap-as-dirt Sprint MVNO. If you wanted an excuse to try out the service, here you go: a screenshot taken by Reddit user imaliamatoo indicates that the Moto X is coming to Republic.

Dan Rosenberg's Loki Tool Now Works Around The Locked Bootloader On AT&T And Verizon LG G2 Models

Both AT&T and Verizon have repeatedly and vociferously stated that their policy of locking bootloaders isn't going away any time soon. And in both cases, public-spirited security researcher Dan Rosenberg has managed to fox them on at least some hardware. Like a mischievous trickster deity, the Loki tool has been pressed into service to work around the locked bootloaders of various Samsung and LG devices, and the latest update adds support for the flagship LG G2 on both carriers.

The Galaxy Note 3 is set to launch on T-Mobile on October 2nd, but if waiting that long causes you too much anxiety, you can now head over to their website and call dibs on one of your own. That's right, Samsung's latest phablet is now available for pre-order on T-Mobile, and while the company may not believe in subsidizing their phones anymore, you're probably going to want to stick with the payment plan when placing that order.

Verizon Expects New Nexus 7 To Get Certified For Its LTE Network At Some Point, No Timeframe Just Yet

Earlier today we reported that Verizon is currently denying owners of the Nexus 7 2013 LTE model the ability to access new data lines on the company's network. We reached out to a Verizon representative for comment, and here's what we got back:

This is not yet a device that is Verizon 4G LTE certified. We’ll let folks know when its certified.

Since that's a little on the vague side we requested some clarification, and received the following additional response.

Nexus 7 LTE Goes Live On The Play Store In 10 Countries

After a lonesome stint on the US Play Store (and various random retailers across the world) with only T-Mobile SIMs available, the LTE Nexus 7 is now available on the Play Store in nine countries: Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, UK, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. Here's a URL that should work to get to the product listing.

N7

The US version is available with AT&T and T-Mobile SIMs, but as some have suspected, Verizon SIMs remain MIA, and may for the foreseeable future.

Verizon may have just gotten the HTC One, but it's hard to call it a "new" phone. Other carriers have been selling the aluminum slab for a few months now. It's getting to the point where that on-contract price is downright reasonable. For example, right now the Verizon HTC One is $49.99 on both Amazon and Best Buy.

Sprint Expands 4G LTE Availability To 34 New Markets, Brings Nationwide Coverage Up To 185

Compared to Verizon and AT&T, Sprint's network leaves much to be desired in terms of both data speeds and coverage. This isn't the result of a lack of effort, though, as the Kansas-based company has steadily rolled out LTE to new markets throughout the summer. Today the company has announced the availability of 4G LTE in 34 new markets, bringing the total number from 151 up to 185. Sprint customers throughout the South, Midwest, North Carolina, Oregon, and Pennsylvania should now have a new reason to smile.
