The FCC Plans To Fine AT&T Mobility $100 Million For Misleading 'Unlimited' Data Plans

It's been almost eight months since the Federal Communications Commission opened its lawsuit against AT&T for misleading statements on its "unlimited" data plans. Today the Commission announced its intention (PDF link) to fine the wireless company $100 million for failing to notify its customers that going over unspecified data limits on an "unlimited" plan would result in severely reduced or "throttled" speed, well below advertised speeds, violating the 2010 Open Internet Transparency Rule.

Rumor: T-Mobile's German Parent Company May Want To Sell The Carrier To... Comcast

T-Mobile has been responsible for seriously shaking up the American cellular carrier for the last couple of years, disrupting nearly every area from contracts to phone subsidies to data sales models. So hearing that T-Mo's parent company Deutsche Telekom may be interested in selling it off is somewhat alarming. Hearing that they may be interested in selling to Comcast, quantifiably one of the most despised companies in the entire country, is like watching that head-crushing scene from Game of Thrones all over again.

The Sony Xperia Z4 Is Coming To Verizon As The Z4v This Summer

Okay, Sony. Can you just decide what you want to call this phone? Is it the Z4 like in Japan, or the Z3+ as in most other markets? I say this because the phone is coming to the US as the Xperia Z4v on Verizon. It will be out this summer with obnoxious Verizon branding and yes, a Snapdragon 810. It's not clear if Verizon will be posting warnings in its stores.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Arrives On AT&T In Gray, Camo Blue, And Camo White For $695

Some of you abuse your phones. You know who you are. You're the folks who are willing to fundamentally change the look, feel, and size of your phone by cramming it into an OtterBox case. A number of you have what few would dispute as a legitimate reason (you work in construction, work as a crash test dummy's stunt double—that sort of thing), while others just feel clumsy enough that their phones can't possibly survive the number of times they will fall against carpet and concrete.

Getting a software update from Verizon is usually a real treat, since Big Red isn't normally too fond of pushing them out. Well, Verizon Galaxy S5 owners, this is one of your special days. Before getting too excited, though, there isn't much to this one.

Weren't you dying to get GALAXY Apps on your S5? No? Too bad, here it is. This is the rebranded version of Samsung Apps, so newer is probably better, even if many users would prefer neither.

[Womp Womp] Motorola's David Schuster Says Lollipop For The DROID Turbo Is Still In Lab Testing

Motorola pushed out the Android 5.0 update to some variants of the Moto X late last year, and that was followed by a few more 5.0 updates and now a 5.1 OTA for some devices. The DROID Turbo, on the other hand, is languishing on Android 4.4. A few rumored dates have come and gone, and now Motorola's David Schuster is trying to cool the speculation. He says it's still being tested.

Hey Verizon, you do know that your flagship and completely exclusive DROID Turbo is still running on Android 4.4, right? Right? That being the case, does it seem a little odd that the cheapest of the Moto line, the Moto E, which is only sold to pre-paid Verizon customers, now runs the latest version of Android? No? Well OK, then. If you have the second-gen version of the Moto E, expect an update sometime in the next few days.
