ErnCon, an awesome game with a strange name, reached version 1.0 today, officially "going gold." The game could be described as a mix between the classic 'Asteroids' and any entry from the chaotic "bullet hell" genre, with some interesting multiplayer capabilities thrown in.

ErnCon's description urges users to "join your allies in the epic battle to retake the galaxy," which could be paraphrased as "shoot everything and stay alive." When first starting the game, a nameless, busty guide will help you learn how to play in a quick tutorial mission.

Giving us perhaps one of the most unique games I've ever played, 4gency released Node.Hack to the Play Store today. The game poses the player as "a digital warrior on the front lines, cracking the world's toughest computer systems for profit." Indeed, the object of the game is to hack through individual nodes to accrue thousands upon thousands of dollars and escape before being destroyed by enemy AI.

The first thing I noticed about Node.Hack was of course its visual style.

Update: After months of waiting, the THD version has now received this expansion pack. Hit the widget and get to killin'!

Madfinger Games has just rolled out an update to their uber-hit third-person shooter Shadowgun, and this time around they have included more than just some bug fixes. The most significant aspect of the update is a new free expansion called "The Leftover" - check out the trailer:

The Leftover "directly follows the events of the original SHADOWGUN" and features:

  • 4 new levels
  • New enemy creature
  • New gun
  • New type of gaming interaction
  • New soundtrack

The update brings some new effects and features to the original campaign, as well:

  • Camera shakes and bullet trails
  • Player can now roll
  • Tuned difficulty, weapons, and enemies
  • Better, more intensive gaming experience

The THD version of the game (with improved graphics and additional effects to take advantage of the extra horsepower Tegra 3 provides) hasn't yet been updated, and there's no official word as to when it will be.

The XFINITY TV app for Android saw its first update in many months back in February, which brought many useful features to XFINITY customers. While the update was accepted with open arms by most XFINITY users, one group was still left out in the cold: users with Ice Cream Sandwich-powered devices.

At the time ICS support was said to be "coming soon," which apparently translates into a little over a month in developer speak, as the update finally hit the Play Store just a little while ago.

If you've ever used the app Cocktail Flow by Distinction Ltd, you know that they take design and aesthetics seriously. Their new (and only second) app, Weather Flow, continues that trend and delivers what I believe is the best-looking weather experience on Android to date. And it's not hard to see why:

And if you don't like pretty pictures of wheat fields and idyllic dirt country roads, there's an alternative theme in Weather flow that I actually prefer:

You get a bit more information (the hourly forecast and daily forecast are both displayed simultaneously), and that beautiful ICS-style theming and color scheme.

LogMeIn has announced a partnership with HTC that will see its Rescue software pre-installed on all future Android smartphones and tablets. Using a combination of an applet on HTC devices and support software across the company's worldwide call centers, customers will be provided with remote support that allows the person on the other end of the phone to take control of your device and run various tests.

To protect customers from inadvertently handing their phone over to a stranger, the applet will only "securely connect their devices to HTC customer care representatives during active support calls."

Once a technician is connected to a device they will be able to run remote diagnostics, push common device and network configuration settings, and remotely control the customer's device to resolve issues.

OnLive, a hugely popular on-demand gaming service which came to Android late last year, announced tonight the release of L.A. Noire: Touch Edition, which Founder and CEO Steve Perlman dubs "BY FAR the highest-performance game ever designed for tablets."

For those unaware, OnLive features 25 other touch-playable titles, some of which have been totally redesigned to support touch interaction. L.A. Noire is the latest title to get a touch makeover and is, according to Perlman, "the highest-performance console video game developed specifically for touch-enabled play via mobile cloud gaming.

Getting fit is a chore. Keeping track of what you eat, how much you exercise, counting calories gained and lost, I t can all get a bit overwhelming. The Fitbit accessory is designed to make the process easier by keeping track of how many calories you've burned while walking, working out, etc. during the day and logging on to the site to add in your calorie intake at night. Now, the Android app streamlines both of these processes.

Who doesn't like games? Or charity? Or setting your own prices? If you answered "me" to any of these questions, you may take the rest of the article off. The rest of you, get ready for the Humble Bundle For Android 2! The same rules apply to the second round as the first: pay what you want, designate how much should go to charity, get licenses for all available platforms.

reddittiny

Well, here's a twist for you. Apple Google has just banned Reddit Is Fun from the App Store Google Play Store due to "sexually explicit material." The author of the app has taken to (where else?) Reddit to voice his concerns and ask for advice in getting his apps reinstated. It may be a simple problem to solve, however.

2012-03-19 11h53_29

The move comes shortly after Reddit Is Fun received an update to version 2.0 and was split into two apps.
