[New Game] Kairosoft Continues To Churn Out Retro Gaming Sims With Magazine Mogul

So, we've designed games, built malls, managed soccer teams, run farms, and that's just scratching the surface of the Kairosoft game catalog. This developer has found a formula that works and it's not about to stop now. The newest title in Kairosoft's stable is Magazine Mogul, and I'm sure you can guess what it's about.

Someone has to report the news in this small town, and that's the core of gameplay in Magazine Mogul.

[New App] Yahoo News Digest Presents The Day's Goings-On With Focus And Style

Yahoo has released another Android app and - hey, come back here, this is actually cool - it's an attractive take on providing the news. Yahoo News Digest gathers bits of news from around the Internet (various reports, video, Wikipedia entries, Google maps, etc.) and puts them together to form a single story. The formula isn't quite the same as Circa's, but it should seem familiar to anyone accustomed to that bite-sized news app. Presentation is half the appeal here, and you may be pleased to know that Yahoo has done a good job creating an app that doesn't offensively ignore all of Android's taste in design.

But why, oh why, is the core mechanic in Dragon Coins based around those little quasi-gambling quarter-shooter arcade games?

Try to follow along here: in Dragon Coins, your party of anime-style monsters is represented by little drawers in a shelf.

Yelp v5.9 For Android Update Brings Messaging Feature To Mobile App

Yelp's Android app was updated to version 5.9 this afternoon, adding an apparently much-requested feature: messaging support. The Yelp app did not previously allow users to send one another messages, but this has now been remedied. Hooray! I guess.

Otherwise, there's nothing going on here - probably a few bug fixes, maybe some performance tweaks. Oh, and a Mitch Hedberg quote, a la Yelp's typically enjoyable changelogs: "I order the club sandwich all the time.

Rovio LVL11's Upcoming Game RETRY May Just Put Flappy Bird To Shame With Even More Infuriating Gameplay

Flappy Bird is a game with only a single button. Players tap their fingers against the screen repetitively to get this plump little bird to flap its wings fast enough to resist the gravity of whatever massive planet it must live on, but not so fast quickly that it flies up into pipes hanging from the ceiling for who knows why. The game takes seconds to learn, and it still manages to be frustrating as $%&#.

[APK Download] Google Wallet Updated To v2.0-R163-v17, Removes Explore Offers, Adds Shipping Notifications, Minor UI Reorg

Google Wallet received a relatively minor update today, too (along with Camera), making a few subtle changes to the UI and a couple of feature tweaks. Most notable, perhaps, is that the explore offers feature has been removed altogether (offers live in Maps now, apparently). The other feature change is an addition, not a subtraction, with Wallet now allowing you to receive notification for package shipment statuses on items ordered using Wallet.

[New Game] Rovio Stars' Word Monsters Is A Social Word Game In Need Of Friends

We all remember Tiny Thief, but let's set those memories aside for a moment. Rovio Stars is back with another Android title. Word Monsters is a puzzle game that's so social, it requires players to sign in using Google or Facebook immediately after completing the initial tutorial. The game itself is an adorable take on word search. Look for words on-screen and swipe them to get points. Doing so will cause them to disappear, sometimes removing letters needed for future words and adding some degree of strategy to the experience.
