One of Android's most popular productivity suites, OfficeSuite, received an update to version 7.2, adding a host of new features, though most are specific to the Pro version of the app (considering how many times it's been on sale at this point, you should have it).
The gist of it is that Word docs and slides now can use shapes, spreadsheets and PowerPoint docs can be exported to PDF, and support for HP's ePrint tech has been added.
We all knew it couldn't go on forever. After resetting API tokens for a second time, Falcon Pro has apparently earned the ire of Twitter. According to developer Joaquim Vergès, Twitter seems to have shut the application down. And just after it got that spiffy new icon!
Wtf? I wake up one day after resetting keys and they're already all used? Did twitter just shut me down?
Frozen Synapse is a turn-based tactical strategy game designed especially for tablets. It debuted in the Humble Bundle yesterday, but was only exclusive for a few hours. The game has now hit Google Play, but the price serves to illustrate how amazing the Humble Bundle truly is.
This indie game has garnered high praise from reviewers. Frozen Synapse comes with 55 single-player missions and cross-platform multiplayer with multiple game modes. The visuals look very interesting – like a virtual reality game seen from above.
Hero of Many is a side-scrolling game featuring that silhouette style that so many indie games love these days. You play as a glowing nucleus of energy, leading a "swarm of water beings" around, fighting bad, black water thingies. They are definitely not sperm cells.
The game is played with no words, which is not a romantic metaphor. Your nucleus collects new pieces and expands, which is not a visual representation of a growth cycle.
America's three best channels for wasting an evening have all just received Android streaming apps, with limited access to full episodes without any TV subscription necessary on all three.
That's right - you can get full streaming episodes of some shows without providing credentials of any kind, though subscribers of Comcast and DirecTV will receive a larger pool of content to choose from than those who choose not to log in.
Minuum Keyboard launched an IndieGoGo campaign back in March, and by the time it was over in April, the developers had raised almost $90,000. That's 873% of the goal. It was a big vote of confidence from Android users, but Minuum promised something unique – a keyboard that takes up only a tiny strip of screen real estate, yet still provides all the functionality you need. It sounds crazy on the face of it, but what if it's not just smoke and mirrors?
We like to keep an eye out for deals, and there is nothing more consistently wallet-friendly than the Humble Bundle. Not only can you get a killer deal, it's charity so you can feel good about spending the money, too. Humble Bundle With Android 6 has arrived with more cross-platform games that will work on your Android device.
This time the assortment of games looks better than ever. Pay any price and you get Pulse, Stealth Bastard Deluxe, Organ Trail (note the spelling), Fractal, and Aquaria.
You probably recognize the name Yandex by now. It's the Russian outfit that's been deploying alternatives to Google services in recent years, and has actually been doing a reasonably good job at it. After recently making the home screen replacement Yandex.Shell available to everyone, the company has set its sights on mobile browsers with Yandex.Browser.
This browser has all the basic features you'd expect in any modern app, but it does a few interesting things.
One of the most popular fitness apps on Google Play has long been MyFitnessPal. This was true in spite of how it looked – the app's UI was absolutely awful, and performance left a lot to be desired. But no more. MyFitnessPal has gotten a new Holo interface in the most recent update.
The developers of MyFitnessPal completely redesigned the app. Performance is considerably better, and you could legitimately call the design Holo (#YOLO).
Nuance comes at voice interactions in a slightly different way with Dragon Assistant than Google does with Now. Google Now is a search tool first and foremost, but there are some assistant-type functions grafted on too. Dragon Assistant is more conversational and handles a few complex tasks very well. In fact, it just got a better at a number of things. Nuance is releasing a big 4.0 update on Google Play.
