[New App] Relive The Glory Days Of 8-Bit Computing With Droid-CPC, An Amstrad CPC Emulator

I have a confession to make: most of the programs you might want to run on this emulator were written before I was born. But if you're the kind of seasoned geek who really did watch the original Star Wars in theaters (and watched it in Europe), you might just remember having an Amstrad brand computer in your basement. Developer Kokak (who we've featured before) has released Droid-CPC, a full emulator for the Amstrad line of PCs. If you've got program files, the emulator should be able to run them on most Android hardware.

Droid-CPC is particularly tuned for games, with a virtual keyboard and joystick, support for customized external gamepads, and an engine that should keep frame rates high (but not too high).

Now two credible sources, Israeli business websites Globes and Calcalist, report that Google has swooped in and agreed to purchase the company for a cool $1.3 billion.

Fruit Ninja Free Gets Massive Update With Local Tablet Multiplayer, New Blades, New Backgrounds, And Yes, More Fruit

It's been quite a while since the Android version of HalfBrick's food murder simulator Fruit Ninja got a content update, but the dry spell ends today. The latest additions to the free app (and only the free app) include better support for Android tablets and a basket full of extra goodies. The most important bit is certainly the introduction of a local, single-device multiplayer mode, though you'll need a 7" or larger tablet to take advantage of it. Players slice fruit at the opposite ends of the screen to compete for a high score.

Action Launcher Gets Huge Update To Version 1.8 With Larger Configurable Grid Size, Icon Scaling, Shutter Improvements, And More

Action Launcher doesn't just tweak the Android home screen paradigm like most other launchers do – it creates new features that change the experience. It was already one of the more interesting launchers in Google Play, but it was lacking some features. Each update fills in the gaps more, and this is a big one.

Among the most notable additions in v1.8 is the option to configure the home screen grid size. Until now it was limited to 5 rows on phones and a few more on tablets, but now you can go up to 12x12. Coupled with that is icon scaling so you can still press everything with the grid size cranked up.

The UI update isn't a dramatic shift, but it cleans up a few bits of design around the booking and flight tracking interfaces. The headlining update is obviously the virtual boarding passes. You won't need to worry about printing out paper passes – just pull up the barcode on your phone. Although, if your phone goes missing you're going to be in a completely new world of pain.
