I must confess to a near-total ignorance in all things Minecraft. My basic understanding is that you punch trees, dig, run from exploding zombies, and out of that somehow comes a full-scale digital model of the starship Enterprise or the entire country of Denmark. But I do know that "crafting" is a big part of all that, and in order to effectively craft, you need to know what to start with and what tools to use. Read More
Bug Heroes 2 is the sequel to an iOS game that never made it over to Android, so bear with me as I get you up to speed. This series has garnered high reviews due to its compelling mix of tower defense and twin-stick shooting action. It packs numerous heroes into squads and tasks players with spilling enough bug guts to improve these characters over time. When you combine this quriky premise with rather appealing graphics, it becomes somewhat easy to understand this game's success. Read More
Raise your hands if you're excited about Guardians of the Galaxy. Now put them back down, because this is a text-based news story and I can't see you. As usual before a big summer movie, Marvel has released a new mobile game to get fans excited for the upcoming release. But what I'm really excited about is the fact that Marvel published the game itself (instead of outsourcing it to Gameloft) without the usual free-to-play trappings. Read More
Welcome to the latest entry in our Bonus Round series, wherein we tell you all about the new Android games of the day that we couldn't get to during our regular news rounds. Consider this a quick update for the dedicated gamers who can't wait for our bi-weekly roundups, and don't want to wade through a whole day's worth of news just to get their pixelated fix. Today we've got an incredibly detailed flight (and only flight) simulator, a 3D tactical RPG, and an endless skater. Read More
The perennial trading card game from Wizards of the Coast made its Android debut last year, and it seems that the developers intend to give it regular updates, just like the PC version. Magic 2015 includes an expanded collection of cards that match the physical card game, though you'll have to shell out quite a lot of cash for the full set - not unlike the real-world counterpart. Magic 2015 is a free download, but you'll need at least 1.2GB of free space to hold it. Read More
You almost have to respect the developers of Game of Thrones Ascent, a free-to-play role playing game based on HBO's uber-popular dark fantasy series. It takes real guts to make a text-based game these days, especially one that's clearly aiming for a wide audience. And despite the pretty backgrounds and sweeping music, that's what Ascent is: a text-based adventure game, set in the unforgiving and ruthless lands of Westeros. It's a free download in the Play Store. Read More
What's that? Minecraft? Oh goodness, no. That's iLands, which is totally different. It's insanely popular on Facebook with over one million active players and over 100k Likes. Yeah, I'm as shocked as you, but now it's on Android too.
We usually wait until there are a few more sales active than there are today, but Today Calendar is a thing people really like, and it's only on sale for today. So without further ado, here are several sales.
Long, long ago, in a forest far away, there lived a squirrel (I can't say for sure which forest it was, or which squirrel in particular, so you'll just have to trust me on this one). And this squirrel loved nuts. Hard nuts, soft nuts, furry nuts, big nuts, small nuts, black nuts, white nuts, red nuts...he just loved nuts. He thought about nuts all the time. He went to sleep thinking of nuts, and woke thinking of nuts. Read More
While we can't exactly call it Cards Against Humanity (they're a bit picky about that), there's a new game out for Android that works with your Chromecast to let you play basically-Cards-Against-Humanity with your friends, and it's called Cardcast. Cardcast allows you to create decks, download decks (including most of the official CAH decks), and all you need to play it are some friends, a Chromecast, and an Android device for each player.
