[Game Roundup] Our Top Seven Picks For The Best New Games Of May 2015

The biggest Android gaming news of the month was certainly the release of NVIDIA's SHIELD Android TV, and it brought with it quite a few high-profile PC ports. But since the vast majority of readers don't have one, I've decided to restrict this month's top picks to more general smartphone and tablet games. Fear not, SHIELD early adopters: you get your own picks down there below the honorable mention section.

[APK Download] Google Play Store For Android TV 5.5.15 Lets You Browse For All Compatible Apps And Games

Android TV has a serious app discovery problem, and it's the built-in "leanback" version of the Google Play Store. Before today, the Play Store on your TV only showed curated apps selected by the powers that be at Google, so between the video, audio, and game sections, there were less than two hundred apps on display for users. You might get the impression that these were the only Android TV apps available - the rest had to be manually searched for in the search function of the main leanback launcher.

With version 5.5.15, that finally changes. New sections of the Android TV Google Play Store are now visible beneath the curated portion, and based on a quick run-through, it looks like every compatible app for your ATV device is exposed.

Pre-Registerable Movie Tie-In Game 'Terminator Genisys: Revolution' Goes Live In The Play Store

Terminator Genisys: Revolution is coming to theaters July 1st, but what caught our attention about this movie was the ability to pre-register the accompanying Android game in the Play Store. If you did so, then you may have already received a notification informing you of what I'm about to say—Terminator Genisys: Revolution (the game) is now available for download.

Terminator5

This is a game by Glu Mobile, which could be enough to put you on edge. There will be in-app purchases. There will be in-game currency. At some point, the publisher hopes you will spend money on its free game.

But we've gotten used to the song and dance by this point.

GameFly Streaming Service Comes To Android (Sort Of) As An Amazon Fire TV Exclusive

There are multiple ways to stream high-end games to your Android device. There's NVIDIA's GRID, OnLive (edit: Oh, right, Sony bought OnLive), and something thrown together by a guy on the XDA Developers forum. Maybe you want more options. Well, if you own an Amazon Fire TV, you can now add GameFly to this list.

The GameFly streaming service derives from the company's acquisition of Playcast. A look at the latter's website gives you an idea of what you can expect from the experience, as the interface matches the one Amazon has shown off alongside the GameFly Streaming app already uploaded to its app store.

A Full-Fledged Harvest Moon Game Is Coming To Android This Winter, And It's Not An Old Port

Japanese developer and publisher Natsume has announced that it's bringing the Harvest Moon franchise to Android for the first time. And this isn't a port of one of the many previous entries in the series. Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories will be a full-blown sequel.

Android isn't the only platform getting its first crack at a proper Harvest Moon release. The farming sim is also coming to the Wii U, PC, and iOS. Only that last one has seen a Harvest Moon game before, but Frantic Farming was a puzzle game, not the farming sim fans have grown accustomed to.

Seeds of Memories gets its name from unlockable seeds players receive as rewards for completing tasks.

Episode 4 Of TellTale's Game Of Thrones Adventure Series, 'Sons Of Winter,' Is Available Now

If you're not getting enough intrigue and treachery from HBO's Game of Thrones series on Sunday nights, TellTale is still pumping out new episodes in its licensed adventure game. Episode 4, Sons of Winter, is now available as a $5 in-app purchase for those who have played through the first three portions of the game. There are six episodes in total, so the first "season" of the adventure game should be wrapping up in two or three more months.

Game of Thrones takes place at the same fictional time as the third season of the television show, so you'll have to remember the various twists and turns of Westeros from a couple of years ago.

True Survivors Crotch-Punch Nazis In the Official Kung Fury: Street Rage Mobile Game

If you were distracted by tons of Google I/O coverage or our NVIDIA SHIELD review yesterday, there's a slim chance that you missed the even bigger news: Kung Fury is now on YouTube. Stop reading this and go watch it now. Then come back here and read about the official mobile game for the indie movie, Kung Fury: Street Rage.

The mobile game recreates Kung Fury's extended hand-to-hand fight scene, in which the titular lone wolf cop/martial arts master/time traveler single-handedly attacks Hitler's Nazi army. Unfortunately it's not quite as complex as the original Streets of Rage beat-em-up: you only get two on-screen buttons, left and right.
