[New Game] Sega's Jet Set Radio Lands On Android With Original Music And New Mobile Controls

If you've ever enjoyed a game with cartoony cell-shaded visuals, graffiti, and an incredible attention to licensed music, you've got Sega's Jet Set Radio (Jet Grind Radio in the original Dreamcast US version) to thank. There are more than a few gamers who keep the ol' beige box plugged in just for this little gem. But now they don't have to: Jet Set Radio is available for Android today, and it's just five bones in the Google Play Store.

For those of you who were too young to remember the Dreamcast, Jet Set/Grind Radio loosely fits into the action genre. Your cartoon character rollerblades around a futuristic Tokyo, hitting assigned spots with graffiti, grinding on rails and other environmental areas, and avoiding or defeating the local cops.

[New Game] BattleFriends At Sea Is Like Battleship Online For Android, Except Prettier

Seeing old board games modernized for smartphones has become relatively commonplace in the last year or two, though as Words With Friends has taught us, that isn't always a good thing. BattleFriends at Sea is enough free-to-play entry into the old-school board game foray, though it's remarkably polished and well-made.

The game runs on the Unity engine, and includes features like leaderboards, cross-platform play, and a few twists on the classic Battleship gameplay. Hit up the Play Store to get it now.

[New Game] Infinite Dreams Takes To The Seas With Sailboat Championship

Sailboats do not have a reputation for being particularly exciting, but the new game from Infinite Dreams is looking impressive anyway. In Sailboat Championship, you can run a different kind of race than you're used to. Basically, this title is a little more leisurely than the typical racing game.

You'll be racing against computer-controlled boats in various stunning environments. What this game lacks in speed, it makes up for in atmosphere. The water shimmers flows realistically, putting your device's hardware to good use. There are towering rock faces, reflections, and even inclement weather. There are also a ton of courses, boats, and achievements to unlock.

Running Rings Around Other RPGs: Chaos Rings Omega Review

What looks, plays, and sounds like a Final Fantasy game, but isn’t? If you answered Chaos Rings Omega, I’d like to give you a no-prize. This game comes to us from publisher Square-Enix, who also handles a lot of the other JRPGs that have shaped the genre into what it is today.

Like my colleagues at AP have commented, the Chaos Rings series may be their way of testing the waters before a full-fledged Final Fantasy mobile title, and it shows; the game is one of the most beautiful that I’ve ever played on the Android platform, and it is worth every penny of the $12.99 price tag.

Hamilton's Great Adventure THD Review: A Puzzle Game That's Heavy On Charm... And Frustration

It's time for yet another Nvidia-only game with the "THD" label, and like the excellent Zombie Driver, it's a pilgrim from the PC and console shores. Hamilton's Great Adventure has been a sleeper hit on Steam and the PlayStation 3, thanks to its adventure game presentation and challenging, go-at-your-own-pace puzzle structure. You follow the exploits of ~~Indiana~~ Hamilton and his pet bird Sasha, as they trounce around ancient ruins in search of the Fluxatron, which Hamilton's professor buddy needs to finish his Transmorphanizer. For some reason. THe game is available today in two parts, at $3.99 each.

Gameplay boils down to finding the best path through each level for Hamilton, while switching to a bird's eye view with Sasha to explore the level and open up the path.

Ho there, adventurers! Are you tired of running through the jungle, and ready to do some actual exploring? Then Hamilton's Great Adventure might just be for you. It's the latest in Nvidia's stable of ported games exclusive to Tegra hardware. Don't let the title fool you: Hamilton's Great Adventure is in fact a puzzle gam through and through, with some light twitching and platforming elements for some extra spice. The game is available now, at a pricy $3.99 split up into two chapters.

Aside from the lush atmosphere and tricky puzzles, the biggest draw for the game is its unique structure.

Hyperwave Review: There's A Lot To Like About Lasers

There are only so many permutations of the scrolling arcade shooter, but that didn't stop developer CatfishBlues from taking a swing at it with Hyperwave. This is a top-down game that could pass for the spiritual successor to Space Invaders. You have to pilot your lone craft against all the glowing horrors of space to defend humanity. At least that's what the backstory is supposed to be. It's really just an excuse to shoot stuff, but that's okay.

Controls

Your ship in Hyperwave is restricted to moving left and right at the bottom of the screen. Auto-fire is always on, so you don't have to stress about that.

Qualcomm Kills Its 'GameCommand' App In Lieu Of A New Snapdragon Gaming Website

Back in January of this year, Qualcomm released its "Snapdragon GameCommand" app in order to highlight games specifically designed with enhancements for Snapdragon processors. Basically, it was Qualcomm's answer to NVIDIA's TegraZone. The only thing is... we didn't really hear much about it past the initial release. And now, Qualcomm has pulled the app from the Store altogether. You can go look - we'll wait.

Once we realized the app was missing, we reached out to Qualcomm for comment. Sure enough - they pulled the app because "[they] feel that GameCommand satisfied its goal of generating consumer awareness of Snapdragon gaming." Moving forward, developers interested in building games for Snapdragon devices are directed to Qualcomm's gaming site, Snapdragon Gaming.

Needs More Training: Avengers Initiative Review

After a long time in development, Marvel (and their parent company Disney) have released Avengers Initiative to the Android masses. Coming with a $6.99 price tag on a limited number of devices, it adds to the growing list of Avengers-themed mobile games, even if only one of those heroes is available in this particular title.

The Premise

Avengers Initiative puts you in the role of the Hulk, who has been tasked in bringing in a number of super-villains who have escaped from a high-tech prison in the Marvel Universe. The game plays almost exactly like the popular Ininity Blade series on iOs, where you'll dodge, parry, and perform attacks in 1-on-1 duels.

[New Game] Hyperwave Is A Space Shooter Forged Entirely From Lasers

Hyperwave is a fast paced space shooter that might look a little familiar to you. This same glowing neon style was used in Hyperlight, a previous game from developer CatfishBlues. The two look similar, but the gameplay is quite different. Your goal in Hyperwave is to defend humanity from the luminous hoard of alien attackers as they bombard the defensive shields. It's reminiscent of Space Invaders with a few key differences.

This title relies on dual sliders to move the ship and aim the weapons at the same time. You can move over to one side to grab a shield refill while still keeping up your attack on a cluster of enemies back on the other side.
