There are many ways to escape the hoards of undead during a zombie apocalypse. Some of the most popular film depictions include cars, planes, and boats. Rarely, if ever, is a motor scooter the chosen means of escape, but that's all you've got to work with in Dead Ahead. It's a quirky endless runner with zombies. What more do you want? Can't you ever just be happy?

The goal is to survive as long as possible while dodging obstacles and mowing down zombies.

DEAD-TRIGGER-2-Icon

Dead Trigger 2 is certainly one of the prettiest shooters on Android, and it also has one of the highest zombie densities of any game on Android. The developers have been pretty serious about adding new content and responding to player suggestions with past updates, and it's the same with today's. Version 0.2.5 has hit Google Play with some cool stuff and insights into the next update.

Just in time to help you unwind after a few days with the family, Badland has arrived in Google Play with a ton of free content. This is an atmospheric side-scrolling game that has some action elements along with a little dash of platforming. It's also incredibly pretty.

In Badland you simply press on the screen to make your little fuzz-ball character flap its... wings? It's not entirely clear what this thing is, but it's definitely flying.

I'll be honest, I've never really understood the appeal of fishing, and the concept of sitting on a boat for hours hoping to get a bite already strikes me as pretty ridiculous. Thanks to grocery stores, I can think of much easier ways to get fish, and with a memory foam mattress, I can think of even easier ways to relax. But Ridiculous Fishing, which made its Android debut last week as part of the current Humble Mobile Bundle, doesn't earn its name by even remotely simulating the pastime it resembles.

The Angry Birds franchise has thus far been on the lighter side of the free-to-play model - the original game launched free and ad-supported on Android, and later versions added small charges for HD versions and a few in-app bonuses like the Mighty Eagle. But it looks like Rovio is pulling out all the stops when it comes to the upcoming kart racer, Angry Birds Go. Pocket Gamer reports that gamers in New Zealand (where the game is getting an early launch on iOS) are finding it positively stuffed with in-app purchases.

I played one year of a baseball as a kid, and for a brief - very brief - period in my life, I imagined what it would be like to play on a Major League Baseball team. Yet I was never much of a serious fan, and I lacked the skills to even maintain the fantasy for a significant period of time. Thanks to Franchise MVP, the latest game MLB.com has pitched into the Play Store, no one will again have to expend much effort picturing themselves as the most valuable player on an MLB team.
