LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens beeps and bops its way onto Android

The LEGO games are great - a little repetitive, maybe, but very good, especially for mobile devices. For the Star Wars fans out there (and boy are there a lot of you), your time has come: LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has hit the Play Store, almost a month after release on consoles and PC.

We all know the LEGO formula by now: run around with a character, collect as many coins as possible, and advance through the game. This is tried and tested, so I'm not going to doubt it, but the gameplay does feel a little tired now.

[Deal Alert] Sleep Cycle alarm clock $0.25 worldwide, Colin McRae Rally €0.10 and Cameringo+ €0.10 in select countries

I come bearing deals. They're not gifts per se, but they're nice deals for two apps and a game that you can grab for next to nothing this week. Without further ado, here are the discounts. You can find the download links to all of them at the end of the post.

Sleep Cycle alarm clock is an alarm app that monitors your sleep — for that, your phone has to be placed on your mattress next to your pillow ideally — and analyzes your movement to figure out the most appropriate time to wake you in your light sleep phase. It normally costs $0.99, but it's now discounted worldwide to the equivalent of USD 0.25.

Pokémon GO Plus wrist accessory has been delayed to September from its original release date of July

Along with the Pokémon GO game announcement, Nintendo said it would release a Pokémon GO Plus accessory in late July to help players stay on top of the game wherever they are and without taking their phones out of their pockets. This wrist bracelet / wearable pin connects over Bluetooth Low Energy to your Android/iOS phone and alerts you with vibrations and LED flashes to nearby Pokéstops and Pokémons. You can check more of what it does and how it works on its official page, but suffice it to say that it should make any trainer's life a little bit easier and their phone battery life a little bit longer.

Pokémon GO lands in Hong Kong

After finally launching in Japan last week and France yesterday, racking up 50 million downloads in the process, the world's favorite augmented reality game has arrived in Hong Kong, according to the game's official Twitter and Google+ accounts.

In case you've been living under a rock, Pokémon GO is an augmented reality game where players walk around the real world with a smartphone and attempt to catch 'Pocket Monsters' (hence the name) and then fight players on another team for control of 'gyms.' Pokéstops, real world locations placed in the game, are used to acquire new items, mostly Pokéballs and eggs to hatch new Pokémon.

Pokémon GO lands in France and passes 50 million Play Store downloads

Niantic's Pokémon GO is something of a dichotomy. I've never seen such a deeply flawed, broken game (with such poor support!) remain in such high demand. This weekend France, the last of the major Western European markets without entry to the augmented reality game, finally gets access to it in the Play Store. France follows Germany, the UK, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and many, many European countries smaller than it in terms of both size and population - it's not clear why France had to wait so long, but at least they're in good company. Update: as a commenter pointed out, the company delayed the release following the latest terror attack in France.

[Saigo ni] After gaining XP in many other countries, Pokémon GO can no longer resist the lure of Japan

Pokémon GO has made several Pokéstops since its launch. First available in Australia and New Zealand, the game powered up and spread to the US, UK, Germany, followed by several European countries. Notice something missing there? Yes, the gym where it all started: Japan. That's no more.

Borderlands 2 makes its way to the SHIELD Android TV for $15

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is probably the most technically challenging game on the SHIELD TV right now, and by extension, on Android as a whole. It's also the third entry in the popular shooter-looter series... but in terms of critical and fan appeal, it's a notable step below the game that preceeded it. Well there's good news today, Borderlands fans: Borderlands 2 is finally available on the SHIELD Android TV (though it's not showing compatible with the SHIELD Tablet at the moment). It's $15 on the Play Store with no in-app purchases.

The successor to smash-hit Agar.io, Diep.io, has arrived in the Play Store

Miniclip's Agar.io has been a huge success - aside from getting featured in Netflix's House of Cards series, it has had over 50 million downloads from the Play Store alone. What could be thought of as the successor to Agar.io has now arrived on Android: Diep.io, a multiplayer tank game.

Like Agar.io, Diep.io was originally a browser-based game, but has been made available on Android and iOS. The aim of Diep.io is to destroy other players by shooting pellets at them - in my first round I survived for about two minutes before being destroyed. Another way to level-up is to decimate the yellow squares, blue pentagons, and red triangles - ideal cannon fodder and good target practice before taking on other, bigger, more experienced players.
