Last Updated: July 13th, 2012

I have personally been waiting for Dead Trigger to land in the Play Store since it was first announced at the beginning of June. It was originally supposed to be out yesterday, but due to some last minute bug fixes and additional enhancements, Madfinger pushed the release to today. Now, the wait is over: Dead Trigger is now available in the Play Store!

Update: This is universal - it will work for both Tegra and non-Tegra devices.

Back in the day, there was this game system called Atari ST. And for this system, there were many games. More specifically, though, there was a game called Speedball. Set in the future, Speedball combined American football, hockey, brutality, speed, and ball. After its initial installment on the ST, it was ported to several other consoles, including Amiga, where it became wildly popular.

Fast forward many years, and Speedball has been remade, revamped, and re-released for many other game systems.

If you like fishing and playing Fruit Ninja, life just got drastically better for you. Ninja Fishing, an ultra-popular iOS game, just makes its way to Android, bringing all sorts of fishy hack-n-slash action with it.

The basic gist is something like this: you catch fish, sling them up in the air, and then use your mad ninja skills to hack 'em up as quickly as possible. The similarity to Fruit Ninja is difficult to overstate here, but at least Ninja Fishing adds an extra element to the gameplay and, unlike Fruit Ninja, doesn't leave us wondering: where is all this stuff coming from and why is it flying through the air?

It seems like only yesterday when the best option for "gaming" on Android was throwing birds at pigs. We've come a long way since then and, thanks to modern hardware, the mobile device is quickly becoming the new console. Helping push that movement right along is a new game from Studio OnMars called Critical Strike Portable.

As you can probably guess from its name, Critical Strike Mobile is basically Counter Strike for your mobile device(s), albeit with a slight change: instead of using the Half-Life engine, Critical Strike is based off the Unity engine.

If you're either a fan of Disney's animated show Phineas and Ferb, or you simply prefer your detectives have evolutionarily curious anatomy, you'll want to pay attention. Where's My Perry? is a new game from Disney centered around Perry, also known as Agent P, a super sleuth that's just as comfortable on land as he is in water. Which is handy, because you need water in all of its forms to solve the puzzles in this game.

cthuluting

You are Cthulhu. Feels good, doesn't it, being an ancient Elder God? Well, I've got some bad news for you. Your powers have been stolen. Don't ask me how the mighty Cthulhu lost his powers, but he did. Now, it's up to you to get them back by becoming a hero and saving the world...so you can destroy it later.

Cthulhu Saves The World is styled like an old SNES, 16-bit RPG, and it's every bit as charming as Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy.

Zombies: flesh-eating, mindless ex-humanoid beings with an insatiable lust for carnage. If you love those ultra-violent dirty beasts as much as I do, then you've undoubtedly been waiting with bated breath for the new Madfinger (of Shadowgun fame) first person shooter Dead Trigger. And now, the wait is [almost] over.

For the unaware, Dead Trigger puts you behind the gun in the ongoing unholy war against the undead - it's kill or be killed eaten in this post-apocalyptic action-horror thriller.

big win baseball

We've seen no shortage of baseball games for Android, but that didn't stop Hothead Games - who's previously brought us such hits as Machinarium and Big Win Soccer - from releasing its own take on the mobile baseball craze.

The "game for everyone," as Hothead so loftily calls it, comes with a number of features meant to reel baseball fans in on a hook:

CREATE your own unique dream team, COMPETE against opponents from around the world, WATCH your team battle it out on the diamond, BOOST your player’s pitching, hitting, fielding and other skills and get ready to win the Daily Pennant for the ultimate BIG WIN!

swing shot

While not quite as famous among the Android gaming community as, say, Rovio or Square Enix, Com2uS has had its fair share of hits - most notably, the company has churned out such popular games as Homerun Battle 3D and Slice It. Now, the devs are back at it with something of an Angry Birds look-a-like: Swing Shot.

Rather than shooting birds at pigs, however, Swing Shot starts off with monkeys shooting stones at other monkeys, albeit ones that have been cursed by an evil witch (after, that is, you either create an account or log in as a guest - I just opted for the latter).
