OrangePixel, the famous for retro-inspired hits like Stardash and Meganoid, debuted Chrono & Cash to the Play Store today, bringing another fun, low-res platformer to Android.

The game centers around Cash (a "talented thief") and his Chrono robot called CR2. The duo travel through time to rob various treasures from evildoers through a simple yet clever gameplay style. The visual style is consistent with OrangePixel's other offerings – well thought-out, colorful, and pleasing to the eye despite its (intentionally) low-res graphics.

Frisbee Rush is undoubtedly one of the most original games we've seen in ages. The story is simple - the city has been invaded by aliens, and only you and your awesome frisbee-wielding abilities can stop them - but the mechanics are anything but. See, your phone is only the controller; the game is played on your TV or PC.

Getting started with the game is about as easy as it gets: download the Android app, and load up http://www.frisbeerush.com on your TV or PC.

Let's travel back in time together. Free your mind, and journey back with me, if you will. It's the sixth of April, two-thousand and twelve. One of the most anticipated games in recent months has just been announced: Max Payne Mobile. The crowd roars.

The game was expected to hit the Play Store on April 26th. We all waited with baited breath, but it never happened. So far as Android is concerned, everything goes dark.

There aren't enough 8-bit adventure games in the world. This is just one of those facts of life you learn to deal with growing up. Thankfully, there are still a few devotees to the genre, like Nostatic Software. The developer has released a delightfully colorful 8-bit adventure game about a young girl with the world's most sensitive ears who just wants everyone in the house to be quiet for a bit so she can go to sleep.

Over a year ago, Adult Swim released their first Android game, Robot Unicorn Attack. Now they're back with another ridiculous(ly awesome?) game called Monsters Ate My Condo. Unfortunately there's no video footage of the gameplay, but I think the Play Store banner probably sums it up well:

The core gameplay is simple and nothing especially new: swipe the floors around to match the colors. It's the premise that kicks things up a notch:

EA has a tried-and-true formula for the Need For Speed (NFS) series: fast cars, good graphics, a cheesy story, and some good old arcade-style racing. Thus it's no surprise that the latest NFS title, Most Wanted (a follow up to the 2008 original) features just that - and as always, it looks like a properly good time:

The game will be coming to all the major platforms - Xbox 360, PS3, Vita, PC, iOS, and Android - so it's unclear how much the press release and trailer pertain to Android.

Android users who are fans of Sid Meier's classic games Pirates! and Civilization now have something to look forward to – it appears hat GREE and 2K Games have teamed up to bring the beloved sim/strategy games to the mobile world.

The companies' statement indicated that the games would be available as "social titles on select global markets," evidently starting with Japan.

With the arrival of a new monthly roundup of apps comes a roundup of our six favorite games. May 2012 saw the addition of a slew of worthy games to the Play Store, but naturally a few stood out above the rest. In this roundup, we'll briefly discuss what we consider to be the top six games released in May of 2012.

Machinarium

Machinarium, which we both announced and reviewed last month, was a no-brainer for inclusion in the monthly game roundup.

With E3 well underway, mobile developer Gameloft has let loose a salvo of new titles it'll be unveiling at the conference today. These include: Asphalt 7: Heat, The Amazing Spider-Man, Kingdoms & Lords, and Cosmic Colony.

Asphalt 7: Heat

Asphalt 7 is the latest in the iteration in Gameloft's long-running racing franchise, though it appears the gameplay has remained largely unchanged (read: racing games on phones still aren't very good), while graphics and the choice of vehicles have been noticeably stepped up.
