Dragon Age has a rich universe, one that has spawned novels, a film, comics, and, now, a mobile game. I know, try not to act so surprised. Yet though Heroes of Dragon Age may be free, it packs quite a bit of depth, as this is one adventure designed to forge the strongest, most-feared tactician in the land.
As the Android gaming landscape grows, there are more than enough role-playing games to keep the enthusiast happy, and lately we've been getting some pretty decent real-time strategy as well. But if you like to mix your genres Reese's style, Armor Games is happy to oblige with the redundantly-titled Warlords RTS: Strategy Game. It's a traditional RTS, like Warcraft, with added RPG elements. Like, uh, World of Warcraft.
If you're an old hat at strategy, you know how this goes: get through the fantasy-themed campaign by cunningly building camps, deploying units, and upgrading your army.
There are many ways to escape the hoards of undead during a zombie apocalypse. Some of the most popular film depictions include cars, planes, and boats. Rarely, if ever, is a motor scooter the chosen means of escape, but that's all you've got to work with in Dead Ahead. It's a quirky endless runner with zombies. What more do you want? Can't you ever just be happy?
The goal is to survive as long as possible while dodging obstacles and mowing down zombies.
Dead Trigger 2 is certainly one of the prettiest shooters on Android, and it also has one of the highest zombie densities of any game on Android. The developers have been pretty serious about adding new content and responding to player suggestions with past updates, and it's the same with today's. Version 0.2.5 has hit Google Play with some cool stuff and insights into the next update.
The land of Estellion is a bit of a mess, but perhaps you can bring it under control in Ravenmark: Mercenaries. It's going to take careful planning and tactical knowhow, but you didn't expect it to be easy, did you? Ravenmark: Mercenaries is a turn-based strategy game with some interesting surprises along the way. Think you have the keen tactical mind for it?
The turn-based element of Ravenmark: Mercenaries is based around two phases – command and battle.
Just in time to help you unwind after a few days with the family, Badland has arrived in Google Play with a ton of free content. This is an atmospheric side-scrolling game that has some action elements along with a little dash of platforming. It's also incredibly pretty.
In Badland you simply press on the screen to make your little fuzz-ball character flap its... wings? It's not entirely clear what this thing is, but it's definitely flying.

I'll be honest, I've never really understood the appeal of fishing, and the concept of sitting on a boat for hours hoping to get a bite already strikes me as pretty ridiculous. Thanks to grocery stores, I can think of much easier ways to get fish, and with a memory foam mattress, I can think of even easier ways to relax. But Ridiculous Fishing, which made its Android debut last week as part of the current Humble Mobile Bundle, doesn't earn its name by even remotely simulating the pastime it resembles.
