"Shoot the robots, kill them all, in the park, at your house, or even at the mall.

Shoot them high, and shoot them low, shoot them stop, and shoot them go. Shoot them here and shoot them there, you can shoot them anywhere!"  -Nurse Seuss (Dr. Seuss' lesser-known cousin, for obvious reasons)

If you remember that childhood story and developed a deep-seated hatred for robots as a result, the time has come to Shoot Many Robots.

Since the dawn of mobile gaming, a handful of genres have struggled with the transition to tiny screens, while still keeping usable controls. Oil Rush is Unigine's attempt at one of the most daunting categories, real-time strategy. The game doesn't come with just another slightly different control scheme, it's equipped with a full storyline, high end graphics, and voice actors! Oh yeah, and a pretty high price tag...

Set during a post-apocalyptic war in which a nuclear weapon has melted the ice caps and flooded Earth, the remaining inhabitants fight to control any last remaining oil reserves.

Sometimes, the modern world is just too much, you know? Video recording glasses and self-aware phones. It makes you miss the old days where when someone made you upset, you didn't bicker with them on Twitter. You just ran them through with your sword. That's the escapist fantasy that DevilDark: The Fallen Kingdom offers. The game is set in a medieval time when monsters roam the land and you have to gut them to win loot.

I love classic arcade shooters! Neon graphics, fast moving foes, and chirpy sound effects. That style takes me back to the days of playing Asteroid or Galaga on massive cabinets, where reflexes and planning were fundamental and a quarter only bought 3 lives. Spikepit Games brings some of that feeling back with Plasma Sky, but you can keep the change in your pocket.

Like other entries in the Shmup (Shoot'em Up) category, you are in control of a gunship as it battles through an army of oncoming foes.

When I was younger, video game tips came in one of two forms: a Nintendo hotline that you could call to get someone to walk you through the game, or you could find a written guide in one giant doc with some kind of ASCII art at the top. You kids today get all the nice stuff. Like video walkthroughs delivered directly to your phone or tablet via Break Media's new GameFront app.

When I was a kid, I always dreamed of having dark hair, wearing a cow skull on my head, and running through a magical land of swinging hammers, random cliffs, floating platforms of land, other areas of extreme peril. Alas, I'm bald, have no bulls to speak of, and this magical land I've dreamed of for so long is nowhere to be found. Just when I thought my lifelong dream was a bust, we stumbled across MANUGANU.

This is one of those things that you just have to see to believe. Developer Dave Sapien is working on an "experimental pop up text adventure" that relies on Tasker as the development environment and Tasker App Factory to package the apk. This isn't a particularly easy feat, given that the platform is mostly unsuitable for complicated sounds and graphics. His solution is to make the entire game out of simple dialog boxes, each with two options that guide a player through the story.

Bladeslinger is one of those games that makes a splash with impressive trailers and promises of console-level gaming, but how often have we been left heartbroken by similar titles? This game sets out to tell a story, so at least it has that going for it. William Glaston is just your average cowboy with a revolver-gun and robot arm, but things get weird when he returns to his home town of Hammer's Peak to find it overrun with monsters that used to be the townsfolk.

Back in 2008, a little game called The Conduit landed on the Wii, and plenty of gamers held it as an example that the console's non-standard control system was up to the twitchy task of first-person shooter gameplay. The Conduit HD is now available for Android as well, hoping to prove not only that the platform is viable for high-end gaming, but that the hardware is also capable of replicating console visuals.
