Gameloft has a number of "top-tier" properties like Modern Combat and Asphalt, but it's been a while since N.O.V.A. got any love. That's Gameloft's totally-not-a-ripoff-of-Crysis sci-fi shooter. Well, there's a new version of N.O.V.A., but it's mostly the same as the last one. This is N.O.V.A. 3 Freedom Edition. It's the same game, but it costs nothing to download and has no in-app purchases. The catch is that N.O.V.A. 3 Freedom Edition has ads.
Welcome to the latest entry in our Bonus Round series, wherein we tell you all about the new Android games of the day that we couldn't get to during our regular news rounds. Consider this a quick update for the dedicated gamers who can't wait for our bi-weekly roundups, and don't want to wade through a whole day's worth of news just to get their pixelated fix. Today we've got a new Kairosoft business manager, another Tin Man gamebook, and a decidedly retro twin-stick shooter. Read More
The holidays are a time for warm family gatherings and quiet reflection... and apparently for releasing a metric ton of Android games. Seriously, in December I couldn't even get our bi-weekly roundups out before a new highly-anticipated AAA game, port, or remake would fall into my inbox. Here are our seven top picks from the final and heaviest gaming month of 2014, along with some notable honorable mentions... and even that doesn't cover all the good stuff.

Update: The game appears to have disappeared. Hopefully it comes back soon.
When gamers first met LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game in 2005, it was a multi-platform title available for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Gamecube, and PC (along with an isometric 2D version for the Game Boy Advance). It applied the virtual toy block treatment to worlds and events from the three Star Wars prequels, and sprinkled on some of the humor we've since come to expect from LEGO over the years. Read More
I have fond memories of bringing home multiple LEGO Bionicle sets when I was 12. Apparently the half building block, half action figure toys are still around and gearing for a big relaunch this year, and a new video game is here to go along with the new toys. Bionicle is a basic top-down action title that pits players against stylized LEGO monsters in a color-coded legend staring six "Toa" heroes. Read More
As is the tradition, the current Humble Bundle has been beefed up with some new titles to entice potential buyers. The Noodlecake bundle, which debuted last week, just got five new games, including an unlocked bonus title with more on the way (maybe).
It's getting to be that time again. Yes, time for developers to get into the holiday spirit and drop their prices. You can pick up a ton of great stuff for not a ton of money. Just head past the break and see what we've got.
Here at Android Police, we've made our position on the prevalence of free-to-play mobile games perfectly known, to wit: most of them suck. It often seems like instead of embracing the audience-widening possibilities that the phrase "free game" implies, developers and publishers use it as an excuse to design games around compelling in-app purchases for more and more fleeting rewards. The phenomenon is well-documented, so I won't bore you with the inherently manipulative methods of most F2P games - you can read here and here if you really need a refresher. Read More
Google has updated its Play Store guidelines to again clamp down on how developers can list their apps. The keyword spam section of the support site now includes a rule that specifically forbids developers from inserting user testimonials into app descriptions. Doing so could get an app pulled.
