Google app is testing "Saved" pages in the side menu and a new bookmark icon in Custom Tabs

In its perpetual move toward making our lives as Android journalists impossible, Google has started rolling out a new test in the Google app. As always, I'm calling it "new" because this is the first time that I recall seeing this among the thousands of tips we receive, but it could have been showing up for some users for a lot longer. This one involves Google's integration of its new "saved" images, places, and pages in the mobile Android app.

But first, let's clear a couple of things. The "Saved" icon started rolling out in Google's mobile site as part of a new sidemenu around the beginning of August.

Plex launches Plex News with over 190 sources and growing

Plex is mainly a way to get your own media library organized and streaming to all your devices, but today Plex is announcing a new source of content called Plex News. As the name implies, it's a feed of news and information from various sources that you access from your media library. There are over 190 sources at launch, and Plex says more are on the way.

[Update: Out of beta] MyScript Nebo is a handwriting recognition and note-taking app for devices with active styluses

MyScript, the makers of the very popular MyScript Calculator, have just pushed out a new app called MyScript Nebo. It is a note taking application that seems to use the same handwriting recognition tech that MyScript Calculator does, but now you can apply it outside of mathematical equations. It only works with devices that have an active stylus like the recent Note series devices or Galaxy Tab S3. The current release is labeled "preview," so don't expect a finished product quite yet.

Alexa voice controls are now available in the Amazon Music app

 

You can already ask Alexa to play you the latest Ed Sheeran hit on various music platforms, either through the Alexa app on your phone or via an Amazon Echo device. Starting today, you'll also be able to call on Alexa to control your music playback from directly within the Amazon Music app.
