Full!screen Enables Full Screen Apps Without Losing Navigation And Notifications (Root Only)

Okay, so this app isn't "new" in the traditional sense of the word, but it's kind of new and very cool. Full!screen lets you hide the system navigation bar and notification area on your Android phone or tablet so you can use that space for apps and games in full screen mode. It's not just crashing your system UI, though. Full!screen places minimalist replacement buttons tucked away in the corners.

Full!screen has a ton of settings that allow you control every aspect of your device's navigation behavior. You can use swipe gestures, pop-out pie menus, and long-presses to access different functions.

PSA: You Can Now Listen To The Android Police Podcast Feed In Google Currents, And It Rules

Yesterday, Google added support for audio playlists and media controls to Google Currents. We thought this sounded like a pretty neat feature, and, hey! We're on Google Currents! So why not put two and two together? Today we updated our Currents edition to include a feed of our audio podcast and it's actually kind of beautiful. Take a look:

It was possible to add audio before, but it wasn't quite this nice. The feed works on both phones and tablets. Just open up the Android Police edition, tap the drop down that will initially say "Articles", tap on "Podcast" and boom!

No more moving the cursor around to get the job done, just tap and drag to your heart's content, pointer-free. In addition, Windows 8 support has been enhanced, and now allows for the use of Windows 8's native OS gestures - making navigating your PC from your tablet even easier.

We've managed to secure a copy and we're going to extract every possible ounce of info out of it.

Sadly, we aren't allowed to distribute it - we have to honor the request of the person who scored us a copy. Sorry! We will tell you everything we can about it, though.

The main screen is, well, broken. That makes navigating the app a little difficult. However with liberal use of the search button and a few tricks it's possible to find your way around. (And yes, the search still blows.)

Chameleon Launcher v2 Now In The Play Store For Everyone, Also A New Cheaper Phone-Only Version

If you've been chomping at the bit to get your hands on the Chameleon update that Kickstarter backers saw earlier this month, the wait is finally over. Released just a little while ago, v2 is now available to the public.

This updated version of the radical take on Android's launcher brings support for folders and linked folders, app launcher widgets, updates to most of the stock Chameleon widgets, and a bunch of overall performance improvements. This is also the first version to support phones, a feature that has been long-requested by lovers of the launcher.

For those who only want the phone version of Chameleon, the team decided to release a more affordable version ($2.91) which provides just that.

Google Play Store Version 4.0 Spotted In The Wild With New Holo User Interface [Update]

It's been a while since we've seen a significant update to the look of the Google Play Store - in fact, it's been in its current form since before the "Google Play" brand superseded the Android Market. But it looks like there is a new version in the works, and it's quite a change to the Store we've become used to. Droid Life got a hold of an APK that purports to be build version 4.0.16 of the vending app.

The Google Keep Android app is out, and it is way more functional than the sparse web site. Allow me to show you around.

There are two different views to Keep, a multi-column view and a single-column view. Multi-column is "pretty typography mode" and single column is all business. You can switch views with the menu button.

There's about a million different ways to take notes: plain text, a checklist, a voice note (which transcribes and saves the audio), or you can take a picture with the camera. Check list items have little draggable handles on them.

Just like Gmail, archiving a note is as easy swiping it away, and, just like Gmail, there's a handy "undo" popup.

Google Keep has once again popped back into existence. It had previously gone live for about a half hour on St. Patrick's Day before Google took it down. We managed to snag a full set of screenshots before it went down.

Google Currents Update Adds Support For Audio Playlists, Media Bars, And Audio Controls

Google released an update to the news reader it hasn't abandoned today, adding a bunch of support for audio-centric features. Playlists are now available for editions that contain audio content, and users will be able to play, pause, and jump forward or backward in the playlist. There are even status bar controls added for when audio is playing, so you don't have to sit staring at a blank playback page while listening.

* Story scanner audio icons for launching Audio directly
* Status bar audio controls when Currents audio is playing

There's nothing better than finding one of those rare apps that seems to do the impossible. Every time I try a piece of software, I have a tiny hope that it will be so good that I'll want to describe it as magic. As a photo editor, Handy Photo is definitely invoking some kind of witchcraft. This impressive app comes from ADVA Soft, the brilliant team responsible for TouchRetouch. Many of the same amazing powers have made their way into this new entry, but it goes much further. Let's just start with the video, which despite the marketing speak in the beginning, is pretty mind-blowing.
