Google is testing a new search UI, and it looks awful

It seems everywhere I look, user interfaces are becoming less colorful - iOS and Windows 10 are especially guilty of this. That's why I've always loved Material Design, because it encourages apps to have an eye-catching color palette. Unfortunately, some of Google's recent redesigns (like the all-white YouTube UI in testing) are following the trend of removing colors.

Rita here at Android Police shares my frustration, so she wasn't happy when she received a new search UI that does away with all colors. Take a look:

Google Home can now order you groceries from Tesco in the UK, via IFTTT

For a couple of months now, Google Home users in the US have been able to easily order shopping from a range of US retailers through the Google Express service. Now, those in the UK are going to be treated to a similar luxury, with supermarket Tesco adding support for ordering with the Google Assitant via a clever little workaround  using a special IFTTT recipe.

Today Snap Inc. released an update to Snapchat. It brings three new features to the media messaging platform: a new Limitless Snap mode to keep snaps open until a recipient exits, a Magic Eraser tool, and a Loop tool to allow a recipient to watch a video multiple times on repeat. This particular Magic Eraser isn't the Mr. Clean product, but a healing tool for editing images in Snapchat.

Google rolled out Assistant first in Allo, but it only supported English at launch. Three lightweight Android browsers that may speed up your old smartphone or tablet

There are plenty of great choices for web browsers on Android, but if you have a cheaper (or older) device, you may find the top picks unsatisfactory. For example, Chrome can slow down quite a bit on low-end phones and tablets, and Firefox isn't much different.

Luckily, there are several browsers designed to be as fast as possible, squeezing every bit of performance out of whatever they're running on. For this post, we'll be taking a look at three of them and comparing their performance and features.

Muzei updated with new widget, Tasker plugin, and launcher gesture

Muzei, a much-loved live wallpaper app made by Google employee Roman Nurik, has just been updated. There was a long gap in which Muzei didn't see too much in the way of updates, which had me concerned for a while. But, between the one back in February and today's, things look to be picking up.

Spotify Codes make it easier to share and find music

Move over barcodes, QR codes, and all other forms of codes, Spotify is introducing another code for you to scan and artists/labels to print on their posters and billboards. It's calling it Spotify Codes and chances are the feature is already live for you in the Spotify app.

You can see Spotify Codes for songs, albums, artists, and playlists when you tap the overflow menu (the three vertical dots) next to them and reveal the artwork: they'll appear on the bottom of the image and look like a music wave.
