Some Google Maps beta users are seeing a new Explore interface

Android users (or at least the ones who read this site) love a good beta, because it means that they get to check out all the new bells and whistles before anyone else. So it goes with the beta version of Google Maps. Multiple readers tell us they're seeing a new user interface when opening Google Maps' Explore menu, which is an alternate view for finding local businesses and attractions. The new look, which is heavy on Google Now-style cards, is above. Compare it to the current version (on the standard non-beta app) below.

[Guide] How to play Pokémon GO (0.37+) on a rooted Android with Magisk

If you follow Android Police, there's a good chance you've got a rooted device, whether it be an easy-to-root Nexus or something like a Galaxy that takes more effort to do so. It's also very possible that you play Pokémon GO, which can probably be considered the fad of the year. For those of you who fall into both of those categories, you're probably frustrated that with the latest version (0.37), you'll now be forbidden from playing the game on your phone, just because some no-gooders used GPS spoofing and/or Xposed modules to get ahead. Even RootCloak doesn't work. Not to worry though, as there's a fairly simple way to circumvent this block.

Pokémon GO updated to 0.37, adds Buddy Pokémon and Pokémon GO Plus support, blocks rooted devices

Pokémon GO may be one of the most-downloaded mobile games of all time, but the fact is that this Niantic Labs creation is dropping in users every day. The Pokémon GO team has seen this, and is adding a few features that were previously announced—Buddy Pokémon and Pokémon GO Plus support. However, it's not all good news; rooted Android devices (and jailbroken iOS devices, for that matter) are now blocked from loading the game up.

Anyone who asks me what launcher I use will know how much I love Action Launcher. Not only is the feature set massive, but developer Chris Lacy puts a lot of hard work and love into it.

The beta for v3.9 that released back in August brought with it some features from the rumored Nexus Launcher, including swipe up for "All Apps" and the Google "pill" and date widgets. Today, Action Launcher updates to v3.9 officially. It includes all of the new things from the beta, as well as a few more goodies. See the changelog below for details on those additions.

[Update: New Top Charts too] Google Play Store testing file sizes for apps on most pages

If you're trying to be conscious about your device's storage space, the Play Store doesn't make it easy. To see an application's total file size, you have to tap on the app's page, tap 'read more' on the description, and scroll all the way to the bottom. That's not incredibly intuitive, but it looks like Google is trying to fix that.

The Google Play Store is testing a server-side change that shows the app file size on almost every screen on the Play Store. The screenshots provided to us show the download size at right side of all application cards at the update screen, My Apps screen, and other locations such as Top Charts.
