We waited a little longer to get Netflix profiles in the Android app, but it looks like there is a nice little bonus to compensate us for that delay. The updated Netflix app plugs into the profile system on Android tablets running 4.2 or later. This gives you the option to prevent Netflix profile switching on restricted user accounts.

When you're setting up a restricted account (for example, a kid's account), you have the ability to choose which apps are accessible.

We've covered Koushik Dutta's AllCast before: it's an Airplay/DLNA streaming app that lets you stream all the things. Now it's out of beta, and you don't have to jump through any hoops to get it: just head to the Play Store and download that sucker to your cell phone telephone. The free version includes advertising, splash screens, and a 60-second streaming limitation, while the $5 Premium unlock app is unlimited.

The app is a streamer for any local video or photos on your Android device.

SwiftKey is well-known for being one of the best third-party keyboards available for Android. What users of other keyboards may not know, however, is that the company also loves to bake little surprises into the app, especially around the holidays (like the "tilt" feature from April Fool's Day).

While the keyboard has already received a festive holiday theme with the most recent update, that's not the only wintery goodness the developers threw into the keyboard – there's a fun little easter egg, too.

The Thermodo was successfully funded on Kickstarter last Spring to the tune of $336,018. The designers were only seeking $35,000 to build the tiny electrical thermometer, but apparently people really want to know what the temperature is in the general vicinity of their headphone jack. The device has reached most backers and now the promised Android app has hit the Play Store.

"I want my MTV" was the promotional slogan that Music Television used to get itself onto just about every American cable company. Twenty years later the network seems to have just about anything except music on its lineup, but if you still want it, the new official app can deliver MTV's programming right to your Android phone. The self-titled MTV app grants access to current shows in an on-demand setup, but only if you already pay for cable or satellite TV.

The Hulu Plus app has gone from a poorly supported buggy mess to a solid experience during its run. In the most recent update, Hulu Plus gains some cool new features like Android-y slide-out navigation and a redesigned layout for shows with multiple seasons. The volume of ads, however, remains unchanged.

Now that the developers of the more popular apps in the Play Store have come to grips with the changes in Android 4.4, it's high time to see them take advantage of the new options. Such is the case with popular alternative homescreen Apex Launcher, which exits its KitKat-enhanced beta and lands on the Play Store today. The new version adds a host of visual tweaks to bring the launcher up to date with 4.4.

Emergency care for cats and dogs is incredibly varied and requires years of learning and practice. But basic first aid is pretty much the same as it is for people, minus a few pounds and plus a little fur. So if your pet has an injury or mild illness you might be able to take care of it yourself, or at least mitigate further injury until you get to a veterinarian.

If you've never heard of Hisense, or you didn't know they made tablets, I wouldn't blame you. And for our part, we've done little to draw attention to its products. That doesn't mean they aren't desirable. People are buying its budget-friendly Sero 7 tablets, and some are even demanding that the source files get released. A quick visit to the company's Facebook page reveals more than a few comments on the matter.

After a brief (read: 1-day) hiatus, popular ROM management app ROM Manager has returned to the Play Store. It was originally removed for violation of Google Play's Developer Program Policies, specifically the subsection regarding in-app purchases. Koush, the developer of ROM Manager, had long included a PayPal upgrade option inside of the app, a feature which doesn't jive with Google's policy that apps on the Play Store must use the Play Store billing service exclusively for in-app sales.
