Update: It seems these instructions aren't working for most people. Until another method is found, you'll have to wait for the OTA update to be pushed to your device.

Still waiting for that Android 4.1 OTA on your AT&T HTC One X? Well, wait no more: you can manually flash the update to your stock AT&T HTC One X running the latest firmware using the following instructions (your data will not be wiped).

What you'll need:

  • The update file:

It's been a long time coming, but Motorola today officially announced that the Android 4.1 (aka Jelly Bean) update for the DROID RAZR and RAZR MAXX will be rolling out in phases soon. The update brings all the Android 4.1 trimmings you may have already come to know and love, like Google Now, enhanced rich notifications, and more.

RAZR_jellybean_announcement

This update is also supposedly heavily de-bloated in terms of Moto's old don't-call-it-BLUR software suite, with many apps having been replaced with their Google-made counterparts. Here's Motorola's detailed changelog:

New User Interface

  • Look and Feel: Updated colors, font, icons, and animations.

New Features

  • Google Now: Added feature that generates real-time notifications throughout the day with relevant, contextual information such as weather, traffic, calendar.

Update 2: The blog post is back, and the update should be rolling out today!

Update: It sounds like the blog post announcing the update was published erroneously, and has since been pulled down. While that's definitely a bit of a disappointment, it does mean that the update should be headed out very soon. Just not today. Bummer.

AT&T just announced that its version of the HTC One X will be receiving an update to Android 4.1 starting today. Here's the brief changelog that AT&T has published, which basically just explains Google Now and the new rich notifications of Android 4.1, along with a tweak to the front-facing camera.

sprint-and-samsung-announce-the-galaxy-victory-4g-lte-99-99-after-mir-available-sept-16th

If you've got a Sprint Galaxy Victory 4G LTE in your hand, you're no doubt craving a little Jelly Bean, since the budget smartphone launched with Android 4.0 back in September. While Samsung hasn't seen fit to update to the latest Android release (and likely won't for some time), you can still get some spiffy new features via the 4.1 update. Samsung Updates has posted what appears to be the official 4.1.1 over the air update, and it's downloadable right now. The L399VPALJ9 package weighs in at a beefy 370MB.

We haven't heard from Sprint or Samsung on this, so keep in mind that flashing this software to your Victory 4G isn't exactly sanctioned.

Motorola, through its Feedback Network, has indicated that it is readying a "new Jelly Bean software release" for the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX on Verizon, asking participants – as usual – to test the waters before the release is made final. We know that the RAZR/MAXX duo are set to get a 4.1 update in "Q1 2013" from Motorola's own update schedule, so the following email (sent to members of Moto's feedback network) is a good sign that things are on track.

Hi,
Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx on Verizon to participate in an early preview of a new Jelly Bean software release, and provide feedback.  If you are not currently using a Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx on Verizon, please excuse and ignore this email.

Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-HD-LTE-3

The Rogers version of the Galaxy S II LTE is finally receiving its update to Android 4.1.2, aka Jelly Bean, and the firmware upgrade is currently available through Kies (Rogers' own site does not yet show the update as available).

You can also download the update from Samsung Updates, software version I727RUXUMA7. Android 4.1 includes new features like Google Now, enhanced rich notifications, and some of Samsung's newer proprietary additions like Smart Stay. Rogers had originally promised the update in January, but yesterday announced that it had pushed the update to a February release.

Note-N7000

According to SamMobile, Samsung has begun the promised rollout of Android 4.1 to the original Galaxy Note, originally teased back in December.

2013-02-18-08-15-24 2013-02-18-08-19-08 2013-02-18-08-13-58

The update brings much of the software functionality of the Note II, including multi-window mode, pop up video, and of course the many changes associated with Android 4.1 at large. The new software build number is JZO54K.

Commenters over at SamMobile are indicating the rollout has begun in Germany, which is quite typical of Samsung's OTA distribution practices. A sort of "test" rollout often begins in a specific region before spreading across the world, and Germany has been one of Samsung's most-favored locales.

Good news, basketball fans. Google has been gradually upgrading the Now service to include a wider range of sports teams, and today Division I NCAA basketball teams from all over the US can be manually added to your personal Now results. Go into the Google Now settings page, tap "Sports," and search for your favorite school. Only basketball is supported at the moment - here's hoping that football teams are added before the season starts.

Previously, a few NCAA teams were showing up in the Sports card dynamically, if you searched for them enough. Now you can make sure that you'll be alerted whenever your guys hit the boards.

Last Updated: February 8th, 2013

Update: We've heard from US Cellular that the rollout will begin on February 12th - apparently someone jumped the gun on the update page.

After promising to do so in Q1 2013 back in December, Motorola has officially begun rolling out Android 4.1.2 to the Electrify M on US Cellular. The Electrify M is basically a de-Verizoned RAZR M, so it makes sense that the Electrify's update follows after its DROID kin's.

You can find a link to the standard Motorola Jelly Bean upgrade overview on US Cellular's website. The build number is 9.8.2Q-50_SLS-7. The OTA update will probably be rolling out in stages, so keep hitting that 'System Updates' button over the next week or two.
