Owners of the Xperia T, TX, and V had a little hope before today that their beloved devices would see some of that KitKat goodness, but now their hopes lay dashed to bits at the feet of Sony's heartless engineers. These devices won't be making the jump to Android 4.4 KitKat, but will continue to live on with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Plenty of US smartphone users have owned a ZTE device, but they might not know it. The Chinese OEM has been providing phones for carriers to re-brand for years, but its US presence has grown considerably. The unlocked Nubia 5S Mini will be a test of how positively the brand is viewed when it launches on August 27th for $279 on Amazon.

It's no secret that Bluetooth has been a problem child for Android, plagued with poor audio quality and connectivity issues. I've already covered a handful of common problems in a previous post, but another issue has been emerging in the last few months that threatens to virtually kill all Bluetooth operation on a device in the right conditions. The culprit is a nasty little oversight in the Bluetooth Low-Energy code added with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

It's not KitKat, but at least the Sony Xperia M is getting a little update love from the mothership today. Android 4.3 is rolling out now, but as usual, the exact timing varies by country and carrier. Heading into the update menu and refreshing will pull down the file if your device is eligible.

Update: It looks like T-Mobile got cold feet. The support page has been reverted to its previous state, showing only the Android 4.2 update from November. Sorry, folks.

Do you use a Sony Xperia Z? Did you buy it from T-Mobile? Then check that Settings menu - according to this T-Mo support page, you're getting a taste of Jelly Bean 4.3 starting today. Of course these things tend to go out in waves, so those without patience can follow the links on T-Mobile's site and manually download and flash the new software (10.4.C.0.797) using the Sony PC Companion software.

The Galaxy S4 on AT&T started getting its KitKat update today, but the Note 3 is still on the waiting list. Some users were excited to see an OTA notification pop up on Samsung's latest phablet only to have their hopes crushed by what turns out to be another build of Android 4.3.

Just yesterday HTC committed to two full years of updates after release for new phones, but it looks like the company isn't keeping the updates to recent hardware. Last night Martin Fichter, one of HTC's US vice presidents, posted a link for a ROM Update Utility file ("RUU") for Sprint's HTC EVO 4G LTE to Twitter. The RUU updates the phone to Android 4.3 and Sense 5. If you've got an EVO 4G LTE phone and a Windows computer, you can flash it right now.

Sony bumped the Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra to Android 4.3 in December, but a new software build is starting to make its way to users starting today. This one has build number 14.2.A.1.136, but it's still Android 4.3 – Sony is just doing a little housekeeping.

Last month the upgraded Butterfly S got the last version of Jelly Bean and the shiny new Sense 5.5 UI, and it looks like HTC's software team has worked their way to the original Butterfly model. Noted HTC leaker @LlabTooFer posted the over-the-air update screen this morning, and at least one blog showed the same software update going out in Malaysia yesterday. According to a Twitter reply, the Taiwanese variant is being updated as well.

An update is hitting AT&T's Galaxy S4 active today, but it's not KitKat. No, this update is finally bringing the more durable S4 variant up to Android 4.3 with the rest of Samsung's current generation.
