If you've been waiting for a good deal on the ridiculously fun (but admittedly expensive) Parrot AR Drone, now's the time to get one. Amazon has the 2.0 version of the smartphone-controlled, camera-equipped quadcopter, plus a spare first-party battery, for just $271.99. That's 20% off, a savings of $68 on the combined retail prices. As with all Amazon Gold Box discounts, it's good for one day only, July 26th.

The Parrot AR Drone has made a big splash in the world of tech and computer toys, thanks to its impressively stable flight and solid smartphone app, which allows Android and iOS devices to remotely control the drone, plus view and record 720p video through its onboard 720p camera.

If you've ever wanted a Parrot AR Drone that feels more at home in the water than in the air, you'll want to check out the Ziphius Kickstarter campaign. This remote-controlled floating drone just passed its $125,000 goal with less than a day and a half remaining, and is scheduled to go into mass production later this year with backer units shipping in March 2014.

Ziphius is a floating drone, a Raspberry Pi control board, twin propellers, and a 1080p video camera with an LED flashlight, shoved into a lightweight waterproof chassis.

Professional portrait photographers swear by their expensive wireless shutter triggers - those little remote gadgets that let them take photos while waiving a stuffed bear at a toddler. Now someone is trying to bring the same functionality to smartphones with the oddly-named Muku Shuttr, a tiny Bluetooth remote that lets you snap photos without holding your smartphone. It's a novel idea, and the Kickstarter campaign has already passed its modest $10,000 goal with more than three weeks left.

This morning, SanDisk announced its newest line of microSDXC cards, the Extreme series. And they're Extreme[ly] fast. But as you and I know, manufacturer speed claims for microSD cards aren't exactly indicative of real-world performance figures (especially in smartphones), so we actually compared SanDisks's new Extreme cards to the older Ultra series. Here's what we found.

On Android, we used the A1 SD Bench app loaded on a Galaxy Note II to compare performance between a 64GB Extreme SDXC and an older (used) 64GB Ultra SDXC.

Good light meters are expensive. The other problem with light meters is that they're often clunky and outdated in appearance. Pricey and ugly as they may be, they're a hugely convenient tool for photographers looking to get their exposures right the first time.

Lumu is looking to address both of those problems with the similarly-named Lumu light meter for smartphones. The Lumu, to put it simply, is both beautiful and awesome.

We've seen Android running on a lot of things lately (outside of phones and tablets, that is) – ovens, game consoles, and a lot more. With people wanting more and more out of their TV, we've also seen an influx of devices that aim to turn that boring old HDTV of yours into a "smart" TV. But Sceptre is doing something a little different – it released a soundbar that runs Android and turns your TV into something more intelligent than it currently is.

Do you find that your devices constantly need more juice while you're out and about? There's a good solution for that quandary: a portable charger. As a day-one Verizon Galaxy Nexus owner, I quickly learned how important always having one with me is, and now I never leave home without one (even though the N4 is extremely battery efficient by comparison). If you're in the market for just such a charger, Amazon has a couple of good deals going right now for EasyAcc's 10k and 12k mAh chargers, at $28 and $37 respectively.

Andru, PowerbyGen's hit device charger based on our favorite robot, is unquestionably the most adorable adapter you'll ever see. Since his debut last year, Andru has been joined by white and dark versions and international accessories.

Today, PowerbyGen has expanded the family with Andra, a "more graceful" alternative to "her hunkier companions."

If you're familiar with Andru, you already know what you'll be getting with Andra: a pink version of the charger, with pose-able arms, a stand, and light-up eyes.

There are a lot of options out there if you're looking for a quality Bluetooth speaker. Most of them have flashy names, like Beats or JAMBOX. But Cambridge Audio, a UK company that doesn't get a lot of press across the pond, has just introduced the Minx Go speaker. It has specifications that should be music to the ears of audiophiles, and a $150 price tag that fits neatly between decidedly low-fi solutions from Logitech and the pricier territory occupied by Bose and Jawbone.
