The Pebble Steel was announced at CES 2014, and here we are just a few weeks later and the device is on its way to buyers. Orders are being shipped as they are completed, so more recent buyers still have some time to stare blankly at their bare wrist.

It's that time again, obsessive collectors: time to fight the masses for a tiny hunk of vinyl and cuteness. Chinese New Year is coming up on Friday, and to celebrate the creators of the ever-popular Android figurines are releasing yet another special edition toy. This time it's dedicated to the Year of the Horse, with a red paint job inspired by the Zodiac figure.

Dead Zebra tends to get swamped when new special editions are being sold, so they're releasing them in two batches: one at 11 AM Eastern Time (right as this story is published) and another batch at 11 PM.

There are oh so many options for a nice pair of headphones, but how many of them can survive being trampled by an adult hippopotamus? Only one that that I'm aware of. The Philips O'Neill CRASH headphones are on sale through Amazon and they claim to be able to survive almost anything and continue rocking out.

Nexus devices might be a great deal compared to other devices in the market, but you pay the price when it comes to accessories. They're either horrendously expensive or take so long to go on sale it's almost time for a new version of the device. We might be lining up for the second one here, as Asus has just now posted English listings for the wired and wireless charging docks for the 2013 Nexus 7.

The Play Store device section sure is hopping today. Google dropped the new Moto G Google Play Edition earlier, then a new red N7 sleeve popped up, and now folks in more countries have some accessories to splurge on.

Wireless

The updated wireless charger is now live in the Play Store for Australia, India, Japan and Korea. Pricing will vary, but it should be about in line with the $49.99 US price.

There are undoubtedly many people out there who received a new Nexus 7 for Christmas last month, and now they need a means of keeping it safe. There have already been three sleeves to choose from on the Play Store, but today that option jumps to four. Now owners can get the sleeve in bright "Ketchup" red. This unofficial name nicely complements the equally unofficially named Mustard Yellow, Pepper Black, and Salt Gray pre-existing options.

As even a brief survey of the world could tell you, we live in the future. As such, isn't it about time to stop plugging wires into all your devices? Qi-compatible charging is showing up in more phones and tablets to make it easier to get some juice by just setting your phone down. Still, there isn't a good wireless solution for the car, but the Air Dock might be the first.

Sony understands wearables, for the company's no stranger to Bluetooth headsets, earbuds, and, more recently, smartwatches. Now it's hitting CES with a new vision of SmartWear, a.k.a, basically whatever Sony makes that can pair with a phone and fit comfortable on, or in, your body. The most interesting of the newly unveiled gadgets is the SmartBand, a FitBit Flex-style bracelet that logs your activities throughout the day. It's thin, safe to wear in the shower, and has enough battery life to last for up to five days.

Get this - dedicated GPS units are still a thing. Not only do they still exist, people are still buying them. So with these two things being true, Magellan has announced a new line of RoadMate GPS units running Android. These products aim to address a key advantage smartphones have had over their more-focused counterparts, their highly responsive screens. The company is now bringing the finger-friendly capacitive screens they've reserved for high-end models down to a more affordable level.

Smartwatch fans now have a new Pebble to drool over: the Pebble Steel. This is functionally identical to the original pebble, but it's smaller, thinner, and of course comes in a steel wrapper. This new model of the Pebble comes in black or silver colors and demands a $100 premium over the standard plastic model, retailing for an impressive $249.

Pebble Steel comes with a matching metal band and a bonus leather band, custom made for the unique head (which may not work with interchangeable watch bands).
