Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Release Date Officially Pegged By Verizon - Coming March 1st

The Ice Cream Sandwich-packing Galaxy Tab 2 it may not be, but the Galaxy Tab 7.7 that Verizon unveiled at CES last month still isn’t to be dismissed out of the gate – the now-official tablet will be arriving in stores on March 1st, complete with:

7.7 inch, 1280×800 Super AMOLED Plus display
1.4 GHz Dual-Core processor
Android 3.2 with Touchwiz
16 GB storage
3 MP rear camera with LED flash
2 MP front-facing camera
7.9 mm thickness
SD card slot
LTE

Sure, Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) is a tad outdated, but still, it would be hard to resist the largest Super AMOLED Plus display to date, right?

Verizon Offering Droid RAZR, Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Stratosphere Free To Select Customers

Verizon customers will want to keep an eye on their inboxes today, as big red has begun sending emails to select customers offering a free upgrade to Samsung's Galaxy Nexus, Stratosphere, or Motorola's Droid RAZR with a new 2-year agreement.

The email is presumably being sent out to those customers who have a 3G-only plan, or who haven't made the jump to a smartphone yet, judging by the following snippet of text, though it's hard to be certain exactly who qualifies for the deal.

“There’s never been a better time to move to 4G LTE – Upgrade to your FREE 4G LTE smartphone today!”

The Next Web rightly notes that while the offer may seem bold for offering customers discounts between $99 and $299, it is likely that promoting 4G data plans will pull in enough cash to make the deal worthwhile.

[Rumor] Sprint Planning To Light Up NYC Market With Network Vision/LTE In 2012

Sprint's list of 2012 LTE rollout markets (confirmed or otherwise) seems to be growing by the minute. Last week, it was revealed that construction was beginning in the San Francisco Bay Area, headed for official activation by the end of 2012. Today, S4GRU revealed that NYC may also be on the list of 2012 markets, explaining that Sprint is not likely to announce second or third-round markets because there is no way to accurately determine when activations will occur.

Currently, Sprint's NYC market spans all the city's boroughs, plus Westchester, and the Hudson Valley, extending up to Saugerties. S4GRU explains that Long Island and southern Connecticut are in separate markets, set to deploy later.

Life Without AT&T: T-Mobile's Plan To Rejuvenate Business With An LTE Network Rollout In 2013

Wow, what a year 2011 was for T-Mobile. We watched as AT&T tried to purchase T-Mobile USA to no avail, while Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T all launched the iPhone 4S and made progress towards their own respective LTE networks.

In fact, the latter two items hurt Magenta so much that its revenue dropped 3.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2011. Ouch. Don't underestimate the underdog, though; T-Mo has a plan. A plan to draw in more customers, make 4G services more affordable, and, best of all, launch its own 4G LTE network.

Since T-Mobile is the last of the big four to announce its LTE plans, it's also going to be the slowest to get started.

[Rumor] San Francisco Bay Area Lands On Sprint's LTE Rollout List For 2012

Talk of Sprint's upcoming LTE network has been on the rise over the last several weeks, with Dan Hesse himself announcing the first four cities (Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio) to gain the ultra-fast network, and Kansas and Baltimore being added to the list shortly after.

We're now hearing word that the San Francisco Bay Area is likely to gain Sprint LTE before the end of 2012, with construction of the network already underway. The Bay area rollout will cover nearly 900 sites and take approximately six months to complete, putting the estimated launch date for the finished product sometimes in October or November.

Verizon Announces LTE Expansion In Four Markets, Adds Service In One On February 16th

Verizon's list of LTE upgrades is a short one this month. Big Red is expanding its 4G LTE network in four existing markets, and only adding one new market to the mix this go around:

Expansion in Little Rock, AR
Expansion in Rapid City, SD
Expansion in Clarksville, TN
Expansion in San Antonio, TX
Activating 4G LTE in Cookeville, TN

We normally see between 10 and 20 new markets on Verizon's monthly upgrade schedule, but with most major metropolitan areas already covered in blazing fast LTE, VZW appears to be slowing down before blanketing the rest of the country. Don't feel alone if you're one of the many who have yet to get some Big Red lovin' - we're all in that boat together.

Verizon Announces Five New LTE Markets, Expansion In Three Others For January 19th

In its continuous journey to bring blazing fast LTE to the entire country, Verizon Wireless will be hitting the "on" switch in five new markets tomorrow, January 19th. The markets in question:

Glens Falls and Utica, NY
Lawton, OK
Brownsville and McAllen, TX

Big Red is also expanding 4G LTE coverage in three existing markets:

Atlanta, GA
Houston, TX
Spokane, WA

Congratulations to all who live in the above mentioned areas - you're going to love the enhanced connection speed. I recently spent a week in an LTE area and it ruined me - going back to 3G is just painful once you've experienced hyperfast.

Sprint VP David Owens: Sprint Won't Be Releasing Any More WiMax Smartphones, And Don't Expect Any Windows Phones In The Near Future Either

It would appear that Sprint plans on going full speed ahead in focusing on product development for its 4G LTE lineup this year. David Owens, Sprint's VP of Product Development made clear at CES Wednesday that Sprint "won't be introducing any more WiMax smartphones," adding "April, May, June, July, August, those will be very aggressive times for us." This may be a hint that we could begin seeing LTE devices as early as April, which is great news for customers holding out for a new device (like Samsung's Galaxy Nexus, which is poised to be Sprint's first LTE device).

While Sprint doesn't plan on releasing new WiMax smartphones, the carrier evidently plans on selling WiMax hostpots (like the Sierra Wireless hotspot we saw at CES) alongside LTE devices.

Sprint's 1900MHz Network Vision Is Nice, But The 800MHz Rollout Will Drop Your Jaw

As I wrote back in October, Sprint currently has major network issues, but the company has been planning to address the woes with the Network Vision rollout in 2012 and 2013.

Network Vision is a project to improve existing cell towers and roll out LTE across the U.S., and it's already underway in the existing CDMA 1900MHz range. 1900MHz is nice, but just wait till you see what the 2nd stage of NV (Network Vision) has in store when it starts rolling out in the 800MHz range in place of the current iDEN network.

These Sprint webinar slides surfaced last month, but only now made it to our inbox and prompted me to order a support brace for my jaw.

[CES 2012] Video Hands-On With The Motorola DROID 4

Late yesterday, we got a chance to spend some time with the Motorola DROID 4 over at the Verizon booth here at CES, and we have to say - It sure seems like Motorola has done it again. The DROID 4 will likely once again set the bar for QWERTY slider phones, and thanks to the addition of 4G LTE and a snappy TI OMAP 4430 dual-core processor (the same one found in the DROID RAZR), it's also going to be the fastest DROID yet.

Of course, the biggest feature on any DROID is the keyboard, and you can rest assured, the DROID 4's does not disappoint.
