It's Official: LG Revolution Hits Verizon Stores May 26, Packs LTE, Bing, And Froyo For $250 With Contract

Official word just came our way from Verizon that the LG Revolution will be available at Verizon beginning tomorrow. Let's be honest: the Revolution is not an exciting device, and as with the Charge, is probably overpriced for what it is. But then again, it's not as though the Revolution is sub-par, either:

4.3" 480x800 display
Bing (ಠ_ಠ)

Aside from the LTE, some fairly average specs by today's standards. Still, the similarly-equipped Droid Incredible 2 managed to impress me, and David had a chance to play with the Revolution at CTIA and came away with a positive impression.

Samsung Infuse 4G Now On Sale For $199.99 At AT&T, $149.99 On Amazon Wireless

As promised, from today the AT&T online store is offering the Samsung Infuse 4G for $199.99 with a 2-year contract. The contract requires you to additionally purchase a minimum data service which starts at $15/month. Alternatively, you can pick up the 4G device for $549.99 sans-contract. Oh and there is also free shipping.

Dubbed the "nation's thinnest 4G smartphone", this 8.99mm Android 2.2 device features a gigantic 4.5" Super AMOLED Plus display (it really does look enormous on such a thin profile), a 1.2GHz Hummingbird processor, an 8MP rear camera with 720p video capture, a 1.3MP front camera, and Samsung's proprietary Touchwiz UI.

Samsung DROID Charge Review, Or: How Slow, Buggy Software Ruined A Phone

Make no mistake, the DROID Charge is a cool phone. It looks cool. Its boot screen looks cool. Hell, even the camera has been carefully crafted to look like some sort of crazy piece of future-tech.

In the past week, I've had three separate people ask me what phone it was (something that I never experienced with my Nexus One or the HTC Inspire), and then proceed in some way to compliment its appearance or the vividness of its display. Unfortunately, this just goes to show that the Charge is a classic case of "don't judge a book by its cover." Why?

[Hands-On Video] DROID Charge: First Impressions

While Verizon has temporarily pushed back the release date of the DROID Charge after a 24-hour 4G LTE network outage yesterday, I did manage to get my hands on a review unit this afternoon.

The first thing I noticed was how sleek and futuristic this phone looks - it is just plain cool, in a way that no HTC or Motorola device even comes close to. The boot animation is probably the best on any DROID to date. It's shaped like it was designed to thwart radar detection - and it's pretty light to boot, a perception that is reinforced by the Charge's faux-carbon fiber battery cover.

Verizon Has 565,000 4G LTE Subscribers, Will Speeds Start Suffering Soon?

Verizon released the first subscriber figures for its rapidly expanding 4G network today - presumably to highlight strong sales of the carrier's first 4G handset, the HTC Thunderbolt.

Of the 565,000 (500,000 is the number Verizon added to its subscriber base in Q1) 4G users, about 260,000 are utilizing Verizon's LTE service via an HTC Thunderbolt. This means that since the launch of the Thunderbolt on March 17, Verizon has been gaining over 100,000 new LTE subscribers a week. And with 4G devices like the Samsung DROID Charge and the Motorola DROID BIONIC on the way, it seems Big Red's 4G campaign is just getting started.

Verizon Expanding Its LTE Market To 6 More Areas Starting Today, For A Total Of 47

As of today, Verizon Wireless has announced plans to expand its 4G LTE market to 6 more cities, including Clarksville, TN; Hopkinsville, KY; Cleveland, TN; Columbia and Hilton Head, SC; Wilmington, NC; and the Greater Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. These new additions will bring the total list of 4G covered areas to 47:

· Phoenix, Ariz.

· Los Angeles, Calif.

· Oakland, Calif.

· San Diego, Calif.

· San Francisco, Calif.

· San Jose, Calif.

· Denver, Colo.

· Washington, D.C.

· Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

DROID Charge Release Date Confirmed: Welcome The Newest Member Of The Family On April 28th... For $299

We've been hearing rumors about the release date for the Samsung DROID Charge for a few weeks now, but VZW has just announced that the official launch date for Sammy's first 4G LTE smartphone will be April 28th. Considering that Samsung released the source code for the Charge last week, this comes as little surprise.

The Charge will hit the sales floor for the ridiculously high price of $299 with a new two year agreement. What do you get for all of that green, you ask?

Sprint Motorola XOOM With WiMAX 4G Now Imminent

Boy Genius Report dropped a piece of information this afternoon confirming a long-standing suspicion that the Motorola XOOM will soon be available on America's most budget-friendly carrier, Sprint - and it'll be packing a WiMAX 4G radio.

The tip came via Sprint store employees, who found XOOM case SKUs in the Sprint inventory system, along with an actual case in an accessory shipment, as shown below.

Pricing has not yet been made public, but expect some kind of subsidy to be available with a 2-year agreement.

Is the WiMAX-ified XOOM just what you've been waiting for? Or do you like your XOOMs cheaper, contract-free, with only the wi-fize and fewer gee-beez?

T-Mobile Launching Even More Plus Unlimited Plan For Just $59.99 A Month

T-Mobile is starting to get aggressive with customer acquisition and retention, and in light of less than stellar fiscal performance and the news of the AT&T deal, it's not hard to see why.

On April 13, the carrier will begin offering a new off-contract smartphone plan, and it's a steal - for $59.99 a month (down from $79.99), you'll get unlimited talk, text and data*. But, there are some significant catches. The first is that you'll have to pay full retail for your phone of choice - the Even More Plus plan is a month-to-month affair.

The second is arguably worse - your data usage is technically unlimited, but after the first 2GB (as opposed to the current 5GB) your data speeds will be throttled down until the next billing cycle.

T-Mobile Bringing 4G HSPA+ To 10 New Cities, 42Mbps To Vegas, Orlando, and New York

Merger be damned, T-Mobile is continuing the expansion of its (potentially short-lived) 4G HSPA+ network, having added ten new cities, along with promising to double download speed caps in some major markets. The cities that have recently had T-Mobile 4G coverage activated include:

Ames, Iowa
Anderson, Indiana
Battle Creek/Benton Harbor/Jackson, Michigan
Fort Collins-Loveland, Colorado
Lawrence/Manhattan, Kansas
Springfield, Illinois
Wichita Falls, Texas

The major markets receiving the upgrade to theoretical 42Mbps HSPA+ (note: there are no 42Mbps HSPA+ phones out there) will first be Las Vegas, Orlando, and New York, with Chicago, Long Island, and Northern New Jersey following shortly after.
